Me and my friend went into an eppic battle this mourning over one thing....

to cheet or not to cheet.

he was haveing problems with Devil may cry and asked for cheet codes, I said "No" because I am one of those die hard gamers who would rather die trying then live cheeting. That is unless I have totaly conqured and owned the game six ways to sunday and am just fooling around.

what do you think? to cheet or fair and square? why?

I only use "cheats" if I've beaten the game.
However, I sometimes use "walkthroughs" for a particular part if I've been stuck on that part for a few days.

I mean, if you're stuck on the same point for like a week, what's the point? You may as well just get past that part.

But stuff like cheats for "unlimited ammo" and whatnot are bad.

I use action replay with all my games(except for my fighting games), I dont really like spending alot of time on games especially when they're hard like resident evil 4 or MGS with the ammo and life running out and stuff, I just like watching all the cutscenes.

Sometimes if I've been stuck on the last boss for a long time and going back and leveling is taking for days, I will go ahead and cheat to beat the game. Case in point, FF7 and FFX. I had no problem beating 9, but those two I did. I think I just got lazy on FFX though, I hate sidequests...On 7 I tried to go back and level but I wasn't getting much XP and I was not going back to chocobo breeding at that point, so I cheated.

I don't think I own any games I could 'cheat' on, but I will use a walkthrough if I've been stuck somewhere forever. Things like unlimited ammo, invincibility or 100 lives are definately cheating a big no-no for me. Cheaters never prosper, right?

I'll play through something cheat/walkthrough free first time. Then walkthroughs come in handy for the 100% runs in rpg's. They also come in handy for such as Morrowind where doing things in the wrong order can cause glitches that affect being able to complete certain quests etc.

Had one instance where I needed to cheat because of a glitch. On the Target UC level on the PS1 version of Urban Chaos you have to blow up warheads but one of them just wouldn't, no matter what I did. So now I've had to restart the game & use the level select cheat (can only use it on a new game) to access the last few levels. Shame really.

The main game I use cheats for is the Sims2, because the game gets kinda dull unless you can make your sims have a ton of money and buy all the fun expensive stuff that could take forever to get without cheats normally.

I would never use infinite ammo or life cheats on any other games unless I had already beat the game without using cheats first. But I don't feel bad using cheats for the Sims2 since you can't actually "win" the game, so it's more about having fun.

I only like cheats if they get me new awesome weapons, costumes, new cut scenes, or another character or story line.

I only use cheats for easter eggs and stuff. Like big-head mode, make a guy green, flat mode... all that screwed up stuff. I don't like "unlimited: cheats because it makes it way less challenging. When you use a cheat like that, you give up your bragging rights, and I HIGHLY value my bragging rights.

I don't cheat unless I'm terribly stuck on a part of the game in which I'm done ALL I can think of to try to beat the part [when I'm stuck on a boss, I don't cheat--- ever, because bosses have strategies. I only cheat on like if I'm stuck on a dungeon... stupid puzzles. xD] . I only cheat willingly when I'm done with the game once--- but it isn't "OMG 10000xxxxx health!!11!" It's more like easter eggs, or just a walkthrough on how to get an ultimate weapon/ability, or secret sidequests. ^_^
