As all big O fans know about the event that earsed everyone's (or almost everyone) memiors. I guess its the mystery why it happen has made Big O one of greatest series in anime and makes everyone want to know more about it.

So one day I said myself what could be the reason why The Event happen? What purpose could the people or a person have to earse all memory of a civilization? Then I began to think our culture (america) and if everyone in our country have their memories earsed. Then I realised, if this happen all, no one would be truely different from the next person, everyone would be equal, there would be no prejudges, no debts, no history. A person could truely have a new lease on life, and do whatever he or she desires.

But there also something that was surposed to be forgotten, as seen in episode 26, when Rodger and Big O was sinking, he sees memories of a battle faught in the city and the level of destrusion. Whatever the battle was faught over, is a mystery, but it could be that it was bad enough that it made the people want to earse all memory of it, choose to do it. As Rodger said at the end of that episode, he likely gave up his memories freely.

Also if this true then why of some people still have their memories? If the battle or War was bad enough to made people want to forgot it ever happened. They probably left some people to insure it wouldnt happened again, as the saying goes those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. They also probably left written records of it, in case these people are killed or past away.

Another possible, this is pure spectualtion, that I've thought of is in The Event, Rodge faught a war with Gordon, over probably the same reason he fights Gordon's son Alex in episode 26 or something else. But unlike episode 26, Rodger is defeated and possibly killed, but finds he cant fullfill the role or it could be that Rodger and Gordon faught along side each other to defend the cities, which explain the picture of him and rodger shanking hands. But Rodger still dies in the final battle. In ether case, the city of paradigm needs Rodger, so it could be possible that they cloned him, as seen when Rodger remembers or given the memery that he was also one of the children with the bar code. And if hes a clone it could explain why he has flashes of memories because they werent earsed like the other people and can pilot a Big better than everyone else.
