So. first post in the GD forum not made by Momo

Reine Devilla. She had style. She had panache. She even almost completely
won her fight over Momoko, DESPITE Momo's possession of the Saint Something Four and Tru Luv, which is awesome but haha spoilers for those who have not seen it yet. biggrin

But...does she have BACKSTORY?

No, really, does she?

In that interest, why did all those silly demons willingly follow her so hard? What were their motivations?

Speculation thread: What do you think the Akumakai (Demon World's) structures were like? Before Reiny-chan came along? After she set to power? What'd she instill in the Akuma that made it so easy to be in their base, subverting theri dudes?

How do you think that compares to other Hostile Takeover tactics? Like with Beryl and the Dark Kingdom? Or Debonair and her anime-only sleeper takeover for Rayearth? Discuss.

Also, favorite devil.

I kind of think that part of the message of Reine Devilla's story was that it's really easy to let bad emotions take control of you. It seems to me like before she took over, the Akumakai was basically just full of elemental spirits and other harmless and semi-harmless creatures like that (I mean come on, like 90% of the Ojama are a total joke, the only exceptions basically being guys like Blackie in the anime and the kissing vampire dude whose name I can never remember - Takashi? Something like that). More like traditional Japanese Yokai, you know? Also, if you'll notice, each human-shaped demon has an elemental alignment (according to my artbook, anyway. It's interesting).

So basically, I think Reine Devilla said "******** the Angels" and the other demons went "Yeah! ******** the Angels, I ********' hate 'em too!" And if they didn't agree with her, I'm willing to bet she either killed them or did that Katsusha thing where she put them on steroids just to watch their roid rage.

Other than that, from stuff Uragano says, and from the OVAs, it looks like the demons were a pretty chaotic bunch to begin with, with no central organization before her.

U been holding out on us artbook we demand scanzzorz. :O

Makes sense. I always pictured them a civilization of, like, tribes. Say Beyond the Thunderdome types, with specific elements and just a general taste for the negative and power, leading to the occasional feud/competition/etc. There's no solid rule, but if one group feels they need to expand/show off/one-up another group...there ya go. Feudal lords, only without any reigning monarchy.

At least, until Reiny came along.

It's easier to get a hold of her and not place her too high on the EVIL b***h pedastool as much when you consider the trials she went through (the reason for the Angel/Demon War...wonder how long I last with spoiler vagueness before I get bored/lazy). But Stuff Happens, and because of it, she seems to do this large-scale coercion scheme that the majority of the demonkin fall for hook, line, and sinker. And never really question it, either by hook or crook.

But it makes me wonder also how much of her "extra" influence reigned on the mindless masses? I bet a whole bunch of key persons noted that her power was Maximum and that wasn't good. Or they thought it was good.

Either way, I'm gambling that she's responsible for Petora being even MORE retarted than he is.

I still like your theory that she sealed him in stone just to get him to SHUT UP. I mean, if I'm like emo and pissed off and everything, I wouldn't wanna listen to that a*****e, either. :/

Come to think of it, she probably sent him to earth in hopes that he'd annoy the Love Angels to death. Or that they'd put him out of her misery, one or the other.

And I think the majority of Reine Devilla's power came from tapping the most basic negative emotions, like jealousy and self-doubt. Hell, just from talking to people on CFUD, it's easy to see how a negative attitude spreads like wildfire or how people start to dislike other people by proxy because they did this or that to one of their friends.

She probably did. But somehow it's funnier that she may have been the REASON he went nutters in the first place. He was probably a pretty level Folzen man and then THE EMO TOOK HIM AND HE HAD TO FIGHT BACK SOMEHOW.

That makes a terrible bunch of sense, too. The infection-by-proxy of negative emotions. And then you have to marvel about how far it went (Potamos is a polar opposite to the example, but Pluie is, like, a hardcore candidate. Directly to the bitter end. Like some super hate nazi).

It also makes me wonder if it's possible to plant things like that in camp. twisted

He was just an EXTREME BODYBUILDER one day and then the next BAM! Psycho!demon!

And I think Potamos was never really a *bad* person, just... very immature. Possibly because she was raised under Reine Devilla's rule, but also I think it's in the nature of her personality. Whereas Momoko (and also Usagi) respond to negativity and challenges with courtesy and love (most of the time), Potamos basically only reacts in her own best interests -- which makes her... really very human after all.

I think early on in CFUD I realized that the primary difference between Momoko and Potamos was that if they were both told their crush loved someone else, Momoko would step aside and Potamos would become a creepy stalker.

Tell 'er that and she'll run you through, though. twisted

But really, it shoked the daylights out of me when I first RPed her. She was a serious difference in the character type that I usually become infatuated enamoured with. She can be very sweet, very nice, charming, etc. And MEAN it. But she's also got this hungry side that's up, awake, and in your face.

And MAN you better not oppose it, Or Else. (Ah, stabbing of a Kyon. V. Good memories~)

And all of them come off as very versitile like that. It's why most (except toward the end with the last four) stick out so much to me. Thundora was calm and calculating and manipulative, looking for a boot to lick. Pluie's the super nazi. Petora's the FUGGING INSANE MARINE WHO WILL DO ANYTHING FOR THE CAUSE AND ALSO THE VOICES IN HIS HEAD. Ignus was the...hippy. Potamos was almost completely self-serving (unless you count Viento, hence the almost).

They're all lovely and colorfu--heck I haven't had this much villian love since...Ghaleon of Lunar: SSS. And Nephrite. And those are just individuals.
PostPosted: Fri Dec 29, 2006 11:54 pm

Yeah, that was a difference between Momoko and Potamos that I distinguished like... a month into playing Momoko, because situations with guys refusing her for lame reasons kept popping up in camp. So I've pretty much always had this distinction between the two characters in my head.

And how is Ignis a hippy? XD

And yes, I love the villains. :3 And I loved Nephrite, too~
