I'm wondering if anyone has had any experiences with mind-altering substances? If so,
Was it positive or negative?
What substance(s) did you use?
and
What did you feel?

I wouldn't really call alcohol a mind-altering substance, but I've used it and I'm using it as I type this.

I never drink enough to be drunk or really buzzed. I like the feeling of energy it gives me. I feel like I can fight 20 or 30 people, but it's not the same kind of frenetic burn-yourself-out energy you get from an energy drink.

I don't know if this affects my psi or not, but I certainly feel it physically.

Most of the time, mind altering substances are NOT a good idea to use. It will mess you up, bad. Though, if the substance in question has no drastis side effects, or side effects that could become drastic with multiple use or continuous use, then it may be a good diea to sue as long as one doesn;t become dependant on it. But, as far as I'm concerned, unless it's something conjured by trustworthy magic, don't mess with it. Instead, rely on your own abilities and energy.

Yeah. It wasn't intentional, but yeah.
I used ecstasy, and I think it was about half meth since anything less doesn't have any effects.
One "dose" is good for most people, I had taken a little over three.

I eventually go home since I have to and just lay down on my bed trying to relax and enjoy it. Now, my heart was pretty close to beating more then it is capable of, and I was under a lot of physical stress from it. So, suddenly I just have a weird feeling laying down (face down the entire time) and realise I'm not quite in my body anymore.

I decided to go and "see" a friend if I could, I did, and then came back got up and went to do something else because I was getting restless. The next time I talked to that person and told them about it they said asked for a time and they said that what I "did" would explain something.

Now, I don't know if it was just in my head and the thing was a coincidence or not, but I expect I'll have future chances to test that again. I don't think it was astral projection, I think it was probably energetic, just more vivid, but it was a out of body experience for me, lol.

I would highly advise NOT attempting this, since ecstasy, meth, and heroine are very dangerous and addictive. (usually addictive mentally, but you get it)

There are three "mind-altering" substances that are safe to use when messing around with energy (at least in my opinion).
1.) Alcohol (In very small amounts!)--I'm not entirely sure why it helps, but it does.
2.) Caffeine (In the form of tea, particularly green or chai.)--For some reason, they tend to help with focus and conentration, as well as maximum energy levels.
3.) Salvia Divinorum-- A fairly rare plant growing in highland Mexico and Central America. Its leaves can be smoked or made into tea. It nearly always produces some form of spiritual vision (always spiritual, for some reason). Legal in every country except australia, and the smoked form is equal to about 0.1% of a cigarette in terms of lung damage. The tea form is weaker, but has no side effects. Apparently non-addictive.

I don't think any of those have ever worked for me.

A majority of drugs out there also count... but I wouldn't recommend doing them... I have plenty of friends that dabbled with E in their youth and are paying for it now. Their minds constantly produce a sort of hormone... ish not pretty.

I used to use mind altering substances all the time (I quit five years ago, aside from my alcohol.). I never used them for divination purposes, but either way my suggestion is still the same. Stay off drugs! They are a horrid pit of despair where your only hope (yeah, right) is the high. They aren't fun, they don't make life easier to deal with (quite the opposite, really. considering the cost, monetary and otherwise) and they don't help with divination (I've tried doing tarot readings while drunk, it doesn't work out well at all.). As for what substances I used... ummm... a lot (I really hated myself back then.).

I use salvia and weed, that's about it (it works better if they're together). I've had some pretty interesting experiences when using them for magic or divination ^^

Don't do drugs. Pure and simple. When dealing with the metaphysical it all comes down to concentration and focus. Instead, try using herbal incense. It can place your mind in a mood and set that is most inductive for you.

Tough question. In terms of alcohol or "recreational drugs", then nope. But some incences and herbal teas are mind altering, even if very very slightly, and I suspect nearly everyone here will have done that at some point, even if they weren't aware of the effect.
Mind you, some incences and herbal teas will make you see stars, most drugs are botanical - so yeah, I'm talking about subtle ones that you perhaps woulnd't completely notice
