Her head hurt. Really bad.
Stumbling along, the young wolf grumbled and groaned. She had had a dream a couple of nights ago that she was to see some silver wolf near the sea. Something in her mind encouraged her to follow that dream, although she wasn't quite sure why. What was so great about some wolf she didn't even know?
"Stupid.. pain," she growled, her gait slow and rather unbalanced. She had achieved little sleep ever since that day she had heard the rabbits whisper in her head (although she had no idea it was actually the rabbits who had said such things).
Crossing over into the lands of Phib's pack, though unknowingly, she stumbled a little more. She was tired, hungry, and overall exhausted. The pain in her head didn't do much to help her, and was in fact making things worse for Hallie. Her vision blurred slightly and she was forced to stop, lest she fall over and hurt herself.
What was going on? Was she sick or something? It felt like a giant boulder was being dropped upon her head. And she couldn't ask Aziz or Carius what was wrong, they probably wouldn't even care. Maybe this silver wolf knew how to get rid of it, maybe that was why she was told in a dream to go and see her.
Driven forward by this new thought, Hal continued on. She tried to ignore the pain in her head, though it was rather difficult.
"Where are you, silver wolf?"

The silver wolf shifted, snug about a foot below ground in the depths of the small den she had dug for herself so long ago. It was somewhat shameful- after all, a blind wolf had dug it, but Phib even humored her and slept in it. She appreciated that. By now her mind was quite good at reflecting the world around her from other creature’s eyes- or by the pulses of life, and she knew enough about herself to know the den must have been crummy. But it was warm all the same. Phib was off again, but he usually was at this time. Things had been quiet in the woods this winter. It seemed so long ago since they had stayed in the lake country, and even longer still since they had lived in the north. She dreamt about it frequently, although as of late her dreams had been troubled by things to the west. What they meant she wasn’t sure, so she hesitantly waited for it to come.
...Where are you...?
Amélie’s head raised, and her ears perked upwards. Sometimes she picked up Phib’s thoughts without trying, but this one was decidabley feminine. Her head tilted softly, and the end of her tail gently began to shift. Her head hurt. Hers or the person speaking? Amélie supposed it didn’t matter. She was having a hard time shoving away her empathy now, and the headache was flooding hers as well. With a stumble, she crawled out of the den, shaking off some dirt from her coat. The ground was frosted and grey, but it hadn’t snowed yet. The grass crunched as she began to walk. The ache was fading now to a dull pulse- and she followed it eagerly. Was someone looking for her? “I am coming,” She resounded smoothly.

"I am coming.."
She stopped momentarily, lifting her head as pointed auds perked forward atop her head. Was someone here already?
"Hello?" she called, feeling like she was hallucinating. She hated this feeling, it felt so strange and powerful. All she wanted to do at the moment was rid herself of it.
After a minute or so, when it seemed that no one was going to show, she moved her paws again and continued forward. The sea. Her dream had specifically told her to meet the silver wolf at the sea. At the moment, she didn't have any other lead on where to go, so she figured that she would simply go there and see what happened from there.
As she walked along, her headache seemed to disappear, fade. No, it was pushed away. It confused Hallie, and made her shake her head with regret, as it seemed to pull the headache back to her. What was going on?
Following the scent of salt, she eventually found her way towards the sea. But she still felt uncomfortable. She had never before set paw on a beach, and so the fine sand felt awkward between her pads. Making a face, she tried to forget the weird feeling as she moved forward again. The sea, it was straight in front of her. Now, where was that wolf she was supposed to meet?
"The sea is here... but what about the wolf?"

How strange! Amélie thought as she navigated through the frozen wood. Someone was calling her, and they did not realize it. She had thought for sure she would have known... but, no matter. It was her thoughts she had heard, and she was sure there was reason for it. The female changed directions and moved towards the sea, and Amélie did likewise. She would meet her there.
From the pinging thoughts she picked up as she ran, Amélie could tell now that this was a young female wolf. Something familiar...but what was it? She would have a hard time reading it until she was closer. Wolves she knew she could read from afar, but it was of some difficultly to read others she did not know. Dangerous, too, she worried. Who knew what her poking did to minds?
She followed the throbbing feeling. The female didn’t seem too good- she was hurting from a headache, and possibly something else, although it was hard to feel underneath that head. She tried not to rush herself. Soon she’d be upon the girl, and all would be revealed. And no sooner had she, did the silver wolf slide from the forest and feet touch the cool sand. She paused with a gentle step, her mind ‘peering’ about for signs of life. She felt, and heard, the thick static a moment lately and apologetically flattened her ears. Again the feeling! Something big was going on in the woods, that was for sure! “Hello there,” Amélie spoke softly once she was in earshot. She carefully sniffed at the air. Closer now- her mind... she was surprised to find she had some problems reading who she was. It was that headache! Nothing was getting through, except her voice. “Oh dear-“ She spoke softly, and gently rounded the female. “Are you alright?”

Hallie blinked at the sea. It was calm, still, so silent. It was the first time she had ever really looked at something like that. It surprised her, in a way. She never thought she could care so much about something so insignificant in her life as the sea. Or, she thought it was insignificant. She didn't quite know how big of a role this sea would play in her life from this moment forward.
Something moved behind her. She could feel it.. in her head? Her ears flicked as her head swiveled around to look at the approaching creature.
It was a wolf. A silver wolf. Her eyes shot open.
"You..." she whispered, a throb beginning in her head. It was different from before, however, as it wasn't so painful. Rather, it felt more just like a presence than anything. It was strange.
"I-I'm not quite certain," she admitted, feeling weak. This was bad. She wasn't weak! Her mother had taught her and trained her to become powerful and independent so that she could take care of herself. What was this now? She wasn't weak..
"I have.. had this awful pain in my head. It's seemed to go down now a bit though." Who was this silver wolf? Peering into Amélie's eyes, she noticed they were a thick blue, a sure sign that she was blind. Her mother had taught her how to recognize that. So this female was blind? And yet.. somehow Hal figured she could see well enough for herself. Strange.

Amélie smiled as the female turned to face her. “Hey,” She spoke softly, almost as though to an old friend, and began to sway her tail in concern. As she approached the wolf, she felt a sudden numb feeling flood across her side, and she pulled back in surprise. Subconsciously, Amélie broke the bond before it took her down as well.
This female wasn’t doing well at all. She seemed lethargic and weak... Nervously, the small female trotted to the adolescent, and gently flicked her tongue about her muzzle. “It’s alright. I’ll try to break it up a bit. But it is far too cold to be out here on the beach.” She doted. “Come- here, to the tree line.” Amélie hushed, taking a few steps backwards. Something familiar still about this one...she got it in glimpses, but could not identify it correctly. Jenna? Strange to think of her at such a time. “Here, here.” Amélie said again, and made motions to direct her. “Your head is very heavy. But I cannot feel it. You have to release it yourself...” She spoke.

Hallie took immediate comfort in the friendly nature of the other female. She was tired of being strong, but only in that moment. Only in that moment did she let her walls fall and allow for someone to get close. Perhaps it was that connection; she could feel that it was deep, but it was also rather unfamiliar.
With the licks to her face, she sighed and allowed herself to sit. But she was back upon her paws again as the silver female moved and motioned for her to go to the tree line. Following, as if subconsciously, she returned with the other to the place where the sand stopped and the trees began. It was such an abrupt line, she noted silently.
Jenna?
"Jenna is my mother," she said, almost absently. To her, it had seemed like Amélie had pondered the name out loud, and she was merely filling the other in.
Sitting herself down again, she sighed and let her head hang low. She was too tired to want to do anything else. "Release it myself? But how.. I don't understand. Am I sick?"

It took Amélie a moment to wonder if she had pondered aloud or not. No- she must not have; why would she bring up Jenna’s name in such a time? She had been right then on her first assumption. But in that case, her headache was something of a much more dangerous matter. Somewhat subconsciously, her mind flexed to being read, and tried to block any other thoughts from unwillingly slipping from her. “Jenna, Jenna-“ She repeated softly, but she already knew the name. “Jenna’s daughter?” She finally concluded. Cassidy? No, no- this one was different. Affectionately, she licked the top of her head. “It’s alright. Your with family then.” The girl spoke, and Amélie lowered her head so it was at level with the female’s droop. “I do not know, love. Your mind is troubled, and it fights too harsh against your mind. You can control it and tell it to silence. You can make the noises stop too. The rabbits won’t talk anymore if you close them out. But that takes time. Now, just try to stop the aching. Let it calm...” She breathed.

Hallie thought nothing of it. She still didn't understand what sort of power was welling up inside of her own head, and she didn't understand that she had picked up on the other's thoughts.
"Yes, Jenna's daughter. My name is Hallie," she spoke softly, peering up into the face of the silver wolf. She was beautiful. As the tongue hit her head, she smiled quietly and allowed herself to calm down. The calming sensation worked for her brain as well, it seemed, for the clamor in her skull quieted down a little. It wasn't much, but it was a great improvement for her. Her head--it hurt too much.
"But.. how?" she questioned, not understanding any of this. Was this female mad? And how did she know about the rabbits? Glancing suspiciously at Amélie, her tail swished against the ground once. The clamor came back in her head, causing her to flinch away.
What was happening?
"I don't understand. It feels too strong. I don't even know what it is, so how am I supposed to get rid of it?" she questioned, her mind too hurtful to really think more about how the female might have known about the rabbits.
Opening her eyes, she glanced up into the pale eyes of the wolf in front of her. She was intrigued, fascinated. The female was blind but she seemed perfectly aware of her surroundings. It was eerie, the way she seemed to know her way around so much. Had she once had vision before? As she focused on the other's eyes, the noises in her head died down, almost to a whisper. She blinked. Did she just do that?

Jenna’s daughter! Of all things. Amélie smiled and continued to baby while speaking softly. Phib would want to see her. She looked a lot like Jenna- although Jenna had been a deeper brown. Black stripes about her body in splotches, no doubt from her father. There couldn’t have been any question about this one’s birth. “Hallie,” Amélie repeated softly. It was just the kind of name Jenna would have chosen. For a brief moment, Amélie couldn’t help but feel homesick. How many other lovely daughters did the alpha have? Cassidy had come here looking for Phib- but this time, she felt the meeting was more coincidental. It had to be, considering the brindle’s state.
“It is very strong because you are very strong,” Amélie hushed. “Not used to such power yet. I am sorry it came on so quickly! Usually it is softer, but sometimes, it hurts.” Amélie remembered her worst of it- she had felt herself dying with an animal, and had not been able to break the connection until the very last breath. She had never experienced anything more heart breaking or painful then that. She felt a slight tingle as the female looked into her eyes, and she felt the heaviness in the other female’s head start to quiet. “Like that,” Amélie spoke again. “Careful though, do it slowly. Just fade it back a bit-“ She tried to settle it with her own mind, but hers was still reflexively blocking it. Hopefully Hallie could manage-...

The young wolf smiled with the other, her tail swishing slightly. All of her earlier suspicions had disappeared with the pain in her head. She no longer feared the knowledge that Amélie possessed. It was okay now, there was nothing wrong with the way that she was, the way that either of them were.
As the silver wolf spoke, she found herself calming down even more. It seemed that her head had throbbed and pained before because she had been fearful of it, she had been unsure of her own power to control herself. But now, now that she was calm and quiet, she felt her self-control rushing back to her. It was a tingling sensation, but she loved it so much.
Yet she was still new to all of this, and so her control over her powers was not so absolute. Even as she was encouraged by Amélie, her control over her powers wavered and she felt the pain come back again. Flinching, she whimpered slightly.
Her legs shaking, she sighed and sank down to her belly. The pain was back in her head. "It tires me too much.. I can't hold it.."

Amélie frowned, and lowered her frail form down as the other female sunk. She had had a brief lapse of strength, but now it was wearing down on her. Nervously the silver wolf whined, and flicked her tongue against the girl’s snout. “It is good, you did good.” Perhaps now she could hold it back a bit- and Amélie went to tinkering. Her mind was still as thick as mud, but carefully, she tried to dam the threads up enough so Hallie could at least rest.
“It will take some time. But not long- no...already so strong. You need to rest now.” She hushed, and pulled her mind from that of the other’s. “And get some food in you. I will have Phib find Cassidy. She will get you something,” She spoke, her eyes flickering about as she tried to focus on one thing or another.
“With some rest, it will get better. Sometimes you have to let these things run it’s course. But if you relax, it should not rise up so terribly again.”

Hallie shifted slightly, allowing herself to become comfortable where she lay. The presence of the other really assured her, and it helped her to not feel so alone. She was with someone who understood, and she didn't need to hide anything from her. It was wonderful, and it allowed her to have a great weight lifted from her shoulders--at least for now.
"You really think I did good?" she asked, glancing at the other female. She felt like she had failed miserably, but what did she know? All of this was entirely new to her.
At the mention of Cassidy, her head perked immediately. "Cassidy?" she echoed. "My sister! Please, I need to see her." She remembered now, that was the whole reason she had come out here in the first place. To find her sister now, it would simply make everything better for her.
"Do you think I could rest with my sister?" she asked. Little did she know, Hallie was an aunt.

Amélie’s tail wagged eagerly. “Yes, yes- I do think.” She calmed. And she truly did- it’d taken her a year or two to even realize she had abilities, and almost another to stomach showing them. Hallie was almost an adult, but she was still much younger then she had ever been. The fact that she had been able to find her in such a condition both touched and intrigued the silver wolf, who was still making nervous attentions at the other female’s face and ears. “With time, it will get much better. You need to let your body catch up with your mind. It reacts badly, I am thinking- too much of a surprise. They’ll sync soon.” Her head turned to the side, picking up the slight pangs of Cassidy far off. “Yes, I can take you to her. She isn’t far. She’s with her children.” The small grey spoke, and pushed herself against the other female to help her stand. “She will be very happy to see you!” Cassidy never spoke much of her family- and Amélie had wondered if it was because she was homesick. She would be delighted to see her sister- and how much she had changed from the puppy she had once known. “I will tell Phib too- he will want to see you. But when you’re feeling better.”

Hallie rose to her paws quickly, with the help of the other female. The prospect of finally seeing her sister had suddenly given her new strength. She was tired of Carius and the way that he clung to her somtimes, she was tired of Aziz and their little antics together. It was nice to finally escape their crazy ways and to finally be somewhere sane. Or more sane at least. And young. She needed to be around wolves her own age, she had decided.
Her tail began to wag when the silver wolf mentioned that she could take her to her sister, but she froze immediately when she heard the word children slip from her mouth.
"Puppies?" she stammered, tilting her head slightly. She was an aunt? Her tail slowly began to wag again. She was an aunt! Her sister was a mother and... their mother was a grandmother. It made her giggle to think of that, for some reason. "How wonderful!" she yipped, bouncing around Amélie.
"Phib?" she echoed. Ah, she remembered him. Aziz had spoken ill of him, seeming bitter whenever he came up in a conversation. She still hadn't figured out why. Shaking her head, she figured it was nothing.
"I'm ready," she told the other, her tail wagging slowly. She wanted to meet her sister, and her nieces and nephews.
