Darkness bled into darkness, but Desdemona did not slip into the background so easily as that. It would be difficult, with a coat so vibrant. She found the shadows to be quite useful for this reason, and so it was to the shadows that she kept, another shape among shapes. Night hid much from the world, and she welcomed it. It made her hunting easier, and her prey off guard. She had a burning desire to rid the world of light, and to bring the darkness down to rest on the Earth. Those thoughts pleased her, and kept her moving through the masses of foolish, fluff headed creatures.

She hoped, eventually, to accomplish her goal. And she knew that she would not be alone in seeking it. Silent, sinister, and solitary she wandered among the ghosts of trees, edges which did not stand out from the darkness. It was winter, and so the ground was carpeted with snow, with drifts tall enough for her to blend into. Silver into white, fading out. The shadows could not fully hide her, but she did not need them to. They lent what they could to her cover, and she took what they offered. The mare prowled through the underbrush with little sound, padding along as though she, also, were a ghost.

Soth felt immune to the cold so embraced it. It was the only season that seemed to represent how he felt.

Cold.

Isolated.

Empty.

Even in the summer, the stallion had a chill to him. His body did not seem to warm up like others as if the heat had no effect on him. He was a dark creature, blending into shadows so perfectly yet the snow made it more difficult for him. The moonlight seemed to reflect off the snow and give away his presence more often than he'd have liked.

Still, it wasn't like he was approached often, nor did he approach many voluntarily. Most meetings seemed to be happenstance or have a reason behind them. It didn't take long before he realized he wasn't alone in the area. He had a feeling the the other creature also knew that he or she was no longer alone as well.

Cold did not trouble her. She was a being made of heat, made of Hell. She walked among the snow drifts, unconcerned by their relative lack of cover. Desdemona did not often hide, and when she did, it was for reasons most dark. She was not hiding now. She made her way with a purpose, and a feral grace that spoke of nights stained with the blood of her enemies (of which most Soquili numbered among). There were day time kills, but they were not important... not integral. They did not shape her. The shadows further strained, seeking almost to shroud the female who walked amongst them, but failed in their attempts.

She knew that she was not alone. There was a darkness that did not rest quiet, a shadow that was not of the night. She knew this, and knew that he must also know that she lingered by. He, because he smelled masculine, not through any other judgement on her part. He smelled also of metal, and that in and of itself was strange. She slipped along the drifts, and clouds of snow, carrying with her the scent of death. It was not a pleasant smell, but it was one that was quite natural to its bearer. She smelled of destruction of life and limb, of the dying, of the maimed.

A scent teased him. It was one he knew all too well. He turned towards the scent. If an adversary it be, he would meet them head on. He was not one to cower, to run away in fear. To be honest, he didn't give a damn one way or another. It would simply be another fight. Another battle. That's all he had to look foward to in his life. One battle to the next, hoping that perhaps one will end his life. He'd only allow such a thing in a fair battle. He had his honor to maintain, afterall. It's not to say he wanted to die, though the peace would indeed be quite welcoming. He didn't find much of a reason to exist anymore. He had done bad things. He was a monster within.

It didn't take long before he came in contact with the other creature. There was still a bit of distance between them but he had caught sight of her. Something was unnatural about the female. Unnatural being an understatement at that. Lord Soth was an excellent judge of character and creature and this was an entirely new one to him. It hit him instantly just what she was. He had heard the whispers in the night from the cowardly Soquilis.

He found himself slightly intrigued.

She did not fear him. In fact, it was entirely possible that she did not know fear at all. Could not. Desdemona raised her head, piercing him with a vivid gaze. It was blank of the emotions that usually stirred within Soquili. Within weaker, more imperfect Soquili. For that was how her kind saw them. They were things to be removed from life, for they embodied all that was weak, all that was hated. Disgusting little things that beat so frantically at life. Yet this wandering warrior was not of them. No, he was made of darker things.

Interesting. She had not met anything so dissimilar to the craven creatures. That did not change the fact that she was unlikely to find anything of worth in him. So few Soquili fit into the bounds of what she considered even passable, and he was not a Kalona. He did not even have that grace. She tilted her head, observing him from a different angle. But he had something else. Something... familiar. What was it? She drew closer, feeling the tugging of her instincts, and fighting them for the moment. No, there would be a time to battle and feud, to rip and tear. Now was not that time.

Soth arched a brow as the female moved closer. Her movement was graceful and she appeared to be quite relaxed. If she did intend to fight, it wasn't her plan at this point in time. To be honest, fighting wasn't on his mind either. He couldn't pass up a chance to meet one of those creatures. To get a feel for them. To know what they were capable of. Only a fool would pass up a chance to know his enemies. Know their boundaries and limitations. Know their plans.

It was for this reason that Lord Soth took a few steps forward as well. He was a creature that had long since disused his heart. He was not afraid of anything. He had little left in this world, to be honest.

"Interesting," he commented as his red eyes ran along her and took in as many details as possible. "I had been hoping to run into one such as you."

Desdemona stalked towards Soth without any sign of concern in her carriage. If the sight of an armored Soquili were something to cause her to worry, she did not show it. "Oh? Had you now? How thrilling." Her tone was dry, as though it could not be bothered to contain the humor that most would have employed while executing a line like that one. "And do I meet your expectations?" A vein of darker things ran beneath the undertones in her voice, and weaved itself around them.

There was something keen about the male, something calculating. She was not so foolish as to present all that she was all at once, nor so naive as to believe that showing weakness would save her if he intended to end her life. And more to the point, it was simply not something she could do. It was not in this mare to be as other mares. She was as unlike them as a bee was to butterflies. A wasp. She watched him with hollow eyes, eyes which had seen many things in this world.

What she found in him was beyond what she might expect from a "regular" Soquili. He was not untainted. It seemed to her that he, too, carried a curse. His was unlike hers, unlike any that she had seen. That intrigued her. She wondered at it, wondering what had caused it, and what exactly it did. There was just something about him that reminded her of a being which carried such a burden. Something shadowy and unclear. It was something she wished to investigate.
