Recently, I have gotten a few of these things. They are lovely all purpose nepalese knives, made famous by the ghurkas, who I won't explain here.

Now I'm not here to talk about these things, I'm looking to buy one. I already have a couple of very shoddy ones I bought within the us for around 20 dollars. But I've been trying to find a more traditional, higher quality, or at least sturdier one. The problem is, all the khukris like that seem to come only out of nepal. So then what happens, as in the case of the above website, they have some decently priced well made knives. But you go to order and behold, $40 shipping cost. Thats what I get for ordering from nepal.

So then, can anybody reccomend a place to buy a good khukri thats not on the exact opposite side of the world? I'm looking in the range of $30 - $40 if possible, and without $40 shipping charges. I've scoured the internets, and I don't know what to do!

I should mention, the spelling of these things is not constant. It can be kukri, khukri, kukhri, khukhri, kukuri, you get the idea. Those first two are the most common though.

I actually have some of those cold steel ones already. They are decent, but not exactly what I'm looking for.

Nope, I haven't seen them around, I look out for them.

Look up, ex-army ones on ebay. Since they are army issue for the Ghurkas they turn up allover the place
