Helios was not in the highest of spirits as he trudged through the snow. The wet, white stuff had drenched his legs and underbelly, leaving him chilled to the bone. He wasn't watching where he was going at all. Why should he care, afterall, not like anyone was gonna tell him where to go, were they!? His head was lowered, his one good eye glowering under a golden eyebrow.

He stopped, briefly, at a section of river where he could slake his thirst. This section was swift-moving with a fast undercurrent and it had stayed clear of the ice which seemed to cover most of the rest of the water around. He didn't wish to resort to eating snow - the stuff tasted odd and, bseides, it made him cold and he didn't like being cold. Not one bit.

A little way behind the golden male, perhaps a few hundred feet, was a small, brown, dowdy female. She was picking her way from rock to rock and managing to keep her coat relatively dry. Although the wolves' coats normally kept themselves from getting dampened by the snow the slushiness of this early covering had penetrated even that barrier. Erin didn't like getting wet any more than Helios did but unlike him she was not impatient and spent a few extra moments to pick her way carefully and save what little warmth her small frame still held.

Noticing that Helios had stopped she hurried up to him.

"What takes you so long, anyway!" Helios moaned at the small female as she finally caught up. "I mean, i'm slowing down as it is just so you can keep up!". The golden wolf wasn't doing anything of the sort but he said it anyway, hoping the guilt might speed her up a bit. She was so sloooooooooow. He harrumphed, turning back in the direction they'd been headed, and carried on, ignoring the dark-toned female once more as though she were below him.

The rest of the pack members had their own tasks to manage that afternoon and so Anya had taken to the meadows by the river to look for smaller game that she could manage by herself. She had already spent some time with the pack, getting to know each and every wolf- but she remained with Ouranos, looking to him as her guide in the pack, despite his pup like demeanor. The young female was happy in this area, it was a fertile land despite the upcoming winter and even though a layer of slush dampened the she-wolf’s dainty paws it did not hinder her spirit or search of food.

But instead of finding rabbits or voles she heard the faint muffle of words spoken in the distance. Her body grew stiff- she did not recognize the voices. The question was should she find another pack member to help her investigate? Eager to prove her loyalty to the pack she decided to confront the strangers head on. Her small frame could not withstand a fight but she was agile and new the territory well. But just to be careful she craned her neck back and let out a howl to alert Zagerus, Callipe, Ouranos and any other pack member that something was going on where she was.

Careful to keep her distance Anya crouched to the ground and approached, circling around the pair of intruder wolves to eventually arrive at a knoll. She not stood above them and at a slight distance. “What is your business in these lands?” She called to the strangers. Anya’s stance was square, her legs from and her neck arched high. Her snowy body was thick with winter fur and she looked down with intensity at the pair, waiting for an answer.

Helios was half way through an internal griping session when he heard the challenge. Before he had bothered to look up he had half started a challenging reply along the lines of "My business is just that, mine, not yours" but as glad that he'd not when his eyes met the stunning sight before him.

She was like the snow itself, pale, beautiful, delicate. Such green eyes too, like his own but a tad lighter, softer in tone. She seemed to have a scratch across her face - like he himself! this was surely an angel, fate! Or at least a good oppertunity. The golden male had never been short of females before and had mourned their lack on his travels. He had been quite the Casanova and believed himself gifted at getting what he wanted from female wolves.

"Why my precious.." he began, in tones that bespoke confidance but also a familiarity. "I came here in search of beauty and here I have found it standing amidst the snow." He looked at her with what he imagined was his seductive look, his tail proud, held high, his body language saying "Look at me, look how wonderful I am." What he was, in fact, was a damp, slightly underfed, large wolf in a strangers territory and too stupid to think this might not be the best way to introduce himself.

Erin hung back, rolling her eyes as her male companion began what she thought of as one of his "tirades". What the silly thing hadn't seemed to realise was that it was his power and position that had gotten him the female interest in the past - not his cheesy chatup lines or fawning self-aggrandisement. She sighed, wondering when would be the best time to step in. If Helios was rejected he might well do something to get them both in trouble but, yet, the male could do with being told he was not, in fact, gods gift to she-wolves.

Ouranos had also heard some commotion and come to see what was the matter. His tail, which had wagged happily at seeing Anya and what he thought of as 'new friends' before seeing them, suddenly dropped at the sight of Helios. What in the hell was he doing here? It was a long way from home... was that Erin with him?

As Ouranos heard the younger male's words to Anya he hastened his steps towards them feeling oddly protective of her. He didn't know why it would bug him so much that another wolf might talk to her in such a way but it did...

(BIG LAWL- i love Helios xD)

Anya took a moment to carefully observe the pair. A male and female…mates? Hardly. The way they held themselves told that they were nothing but extreme opposites. The male, tawny golden in appearance, was impressive in stature and appearance but ragged and hungry from his travels. The smaller brown creature besides him was in the same state and she appeared to have a sweet nature. But however alluring the golden wolf was his first words were nothing to be impressed with. He began to speak romantic word, his stance displaying the man candy that he was.

Anya’s fur prickled, offended at the stranger’s words, and a slight wrinkle tipped her muzzle. The creamy female began a march towards him to tell the male off. “Stranger! You have no business here,” she decided for him, “So leave, and take your arrogance with you!” Her voice rose feverishly, her body within a leg’s length of the tawny male. Caught in the moment Anya had failed to notice Ouranos who was swiftly approaching.

Helios brushed off the comments of the female, more content to stay in his own little happy world. "Ah, you're fiesty as well as beautiful - makes for strong pups!" he grinned, taking her movement closer to himself as a sign of her like of him rather than threatening despite her loud tone. "I'd like to make it so I'm not a stranger to you, darling." his grin was preadatory, or at least attempted to be. It came off more as smarmy.

The large male leaned forward, unaware of the whole 'personal space' thing most other wolves had going on.

Ouranos could see two things. 1. Helios was getting far too close for comfort to a she-wolf he rather cared about and 2. Said she-wolf looked about ready to rip his head off. Ouranos was caught between conflicting emotions. He wanted to chase Helios off, like Anya was doing, drive him away. On the other hand he knew Helios, knew he was big, strong, simply better than Ouranos. The fawn wolf had come a long way but here was his past confronting him - one of the many superior wolves who had given him so much fear when he was younger intentional or not.

"Helios!" he barked, brows furrowing in an uncharacteristic manner. Then to Anya he called "Anya, he's... kin" letting her know that perhaps ripping his throat out wasn't the best idea. For now.

Helios looked up as a buff toned wolf came into view. He was larger than Helios (which the golden male did not like one jot) and he appeared to know Helios' name. And called him kin?! What outrage was this!? "Who in the world are you and can't you see I'm busy with the lady here?" the sun-tinged wolf replied, huffily, somehow insinuating himself between Ouranos and Anya. He was not about to let some wandering male get in on his act!

Erin instantly recognised the big wolf. She scurried forward with a joyful yelp and came to Ouranos with ears down and tail tucked low but wagging. She was a picture of restrained joy as she licked the muzzle of her cousin. "Ooo Ouranos it's been a long time" she whimpered softly, then looked over her shoulder at Helios. "Is this your land? you know he doesn't know any better..." her eyes looked down apologetically. She was an omega in her deference to everyone but, truly, she was as intelligent and friendly as any wolf.
Intelligent and friendly aside, the whole situation seemed to be getting really confusing...

Pups? PUPS?! Anya curled her lips to reveal sharp teeth as she let out a low snarl. The male, this STRANGER, was so…so...Insulting! His arrogance and promiscuity were enough to suffocate any female wolf and although her may have had a story body and beautiful pelt his personality was nothing short of elk dung. Anya’s snowy fur bristled as she moved closer to MAKE him shove off but instead she heard Ouranos’ voice. She had not noticed the large fawn male’s approach and his words took her off guard. Kin? This beast was his KIN?! Confused, she turned to head to her fellow pack mate, whipping the tip of he tail across Helios’ nose as a symbol of rejection, or at least…she hoped it would be taken that way. The brown omega had already greeted Ouranos, were these old pack mates of his? Anya, a bit dazed, didn’t know what to make of the situation.

Helios, of course, took the brush off in his stride, delighted in the tingle as the female's fur passed over his nose. "Honey, now, there's no need to get all mad, you don't look so pretty with a big snarling snout like that." he drawled, his eyebrows lifting suggestively. "Now why don't me and you just ignore that big lump over there" he nodded towards Ouranos "and go find us somewhere more private?"

Ouranos did his best to pretend he wasn't bothered by the large, golden wolf's words but a lifetime's teasing about his size and other such trivial things came flooding back and his tail drooped, ears flicking down. "Yeah.. not long enough..." the big wolf muttered softly, looking at Erin and then Anya and back to Erin. "Zag's land, he's alpha here. I'm sorry, Erin, I am glad to see you but why are you hanging around with him still?"

If she could have, the brown wolf would have coloured. "He's family and, well, he's good deep down inside... I know it." The she-wolf turned to Anya and, ears and tail still tucked low, half whimpered an apology "I'm sorry about Helios... he's... often like this if you just ignore him..." she sighed, wishing her cousin would have more sense to see when his attentions weren't liked. It was odd to see Ouranos riled, though, perhaps the female was his mate? She didn't like to presume at all and so didn't mention it.

"Oooohhh oohh waiiiit" Helios said suddenly, as if hit by an epiphany. "You're that...uhh... Oran?" he paused for a moment, staring at the fawny wolf. He hadn't been listening to Erin, hadn't caught the big wolves name, but he vaguely remembered a wolf who'd left the pack a while back. He hadn't taken much notice of him except to be slightly jealous of his size. Helios was a big wolf himself and not many stood taller. He didn't like it when they did. "Oury?" he tried again, sounding bored as if he had to make pleasantries.

"Ouranos, Helios. Your cousin, aunt Aria's son. Zagreus' friend." the omega supplied, doing her ususal job concerning Helios.

That name he knew. "Zagreus? He's about?" Helios became slightly peevish sounding, disliking the male, as dark as Helios was golden, who'd given him a run for his money with the female's when he was younger.

Ouranos was getting a little tired of Helios' self involved manners and took the time to explain to Anya. "He's my cousin, so is Erin" he motioned to the female." His mother was one of the Alpha's of the pack Zagreus and I left. I don't know why they're here but he has always been.. a bit not nice.." Ouranos summarised. The words were probably the harshest the quiet male had said in a long time but he was riled by the arrival of a wolf who had indirectly caused him so many problems.

Anya moved away from Helios, turning to stand behind Ouranos, brushing against his side as she went. The snowy female wolf shot a glare in his direction as the intruder tried to recall his relationships. She was glad that the small brown female was kind, but in Anya’s disgruntled composure, she couldn’t manage a smile towards her. Only a sad look of forgiveness and appreciation could be afforded.

Anya listened to Oura’s description as well, and she huffed, her fur still bristled. “Not so nice indeed,” she said, “what does he want here?”

(( XD S'ok hon it's been a while. Hard to get back into - I'm havin' the same trouble myself D8 We could probably wrap this one up in a post or two if you'd like. ))

Despite not being in any way in control of Helios' actions Ouranos felt slightly responsible for him or, rather, he felt guilty and ashamed. The only one of his close kin Anya had met and it was Helios. He was a braggart and a bully and Ouranos would have been happy not to run into him ever again in his life. "I don't know..." he answered quietly, looking up at the big yellow wolf and waiting to see if an answer would be forthcoming.

Helios was pretty much oblivious to the glare, noting it more as 'fiestyness' in his mind. He was concerned that he was on Zagreus' land. Maybe that b*****d had a pack of females at his beck and call. Hmph. Then again, the other large male had never been one to press his advantage.

The question, though. "I was simply passing by" he said, almost crooning at the pale female "but then I spied you andwas drawn like the moths are to the moon." He really didn't know when to give in.

Erin, taking her cue, filled them in with what they really wanted to know. "We were passing through, travelling. Honestly we didn't know you were here.... I'm sorry" she squeaked, again repeating her constant apologies for the sandy coloured male. She hadn't missed the look the female had given her but had consigned it to the back of her mind. She often came across that same one in females with whom she made apologies for Helios. "We'll likely be on our way soon..." she added, knowing that this was the most important part.

Helios harrumphed. Despite being the 'leader' of their small group it was surprising how he'd sometimes accede to Erin's plans. Not with good grace, though. "Yes, well, Erin needs time to go find me some food and I want to get out of this mud." he said, shooting a glance at the muddy coloured female, a glare in fact.
