Ariston's day had proved to be more eventful then usual. From getting in a fight with one, and from meeting many other Soquili, he was quite confused with the change in events. He wasn't a fan of any kind of drama, that is unless it involved someone being obsessed with him. He sighed and wandered off on his own, something that helped him enjoy absorbing his beauty.

He also hated the damage that the weather was doing to his golden locks. He knew that it would be alright, and that he still looked marvelous, but knowing that his hair was suffering pained him. He scoffed here and there, just pissed at everything.

There was something strange about the female. Something almost sinister, something feral. She was silent, quiet, watching the world through eyes the color of hellfire shot with gold. She did not fit into this place of smiles and flirtations, the tossing of manes more lovely than moonlight. It was foreign to her. Foreign, unknown... unwelcome. Desdemona had no use for such things. Soft hoof beats rang out along the snow covered deer trail. Flashes of orange, of red and gold showed through white blanketed trees, giving life to an otherwise deadened skyline.

She had not yet scented the male. If she had, she would not be moving so freely. The winter suited her mood. She enjoyed the thought that a good share of the wildlife in the area would die in its icy maw. It thrilled her, if she could claim to be thrilled by anything, that more of the creatures of this territory would find their deaths, and soon.

Ariston's ears suddenly twitched, feeling the faint sound of something moving. He wasn't acting as keen as usual, and he was allowing his neck to even slouch a bit for the sake of his energy. In the shadows of the forest, he was able to beautifully stand out in a golden but lazy haze. He sighed, wondering what could be in store for him now, especially since the air had changed into a different feeling.

Progressing forward, he stopped suddenly, seeing something bright approaching. He backed himself up, leaving more room on the simple trail. Whatever was coming towards him was a figure he had never seen before. His purple eyes rolled, and he lifted his head high in case it was a female. The scent told him that it was a female, but the air told him to stay away.

The branches rustled, giving Ariston warning that she approached. Desdemona's nostrils flared as she took in the scent of Kalona. Not quite a waste, perhaps... if he is true to the nature of his kind. She might not feel the need to kill or turn him, depending on what he meant to the world. Of course, that would not stop her from instantly despising him. Her kind had no love for any species, regardless of their "worth".

Her silver mane did not contrast so strongly with the snow as to give her away, but her pelt did. How unfortunate. It was as though somehow the snow had caught on fire, and the fire was moving towards Ariston. Padding her way through the underbrush, the mare came into view. Her head was raised proudly, fiercely. If he was a problem, she had no qualms with 'solving' him.

As Ariston's tired eyes caught sight of a brilliant arrangement of yellow to orange to red, he flicked his hair naturally, making sure to prepare for whatever was coming towards him. There was no reason to not look his best all the time, even if he was in a horrible mood. The faster the mare approached, the more confused Ariston felt. He was unaware of who this Soquili was, though from her actions he felt that she had a stunning presence.

The mare's expression showed no welcome, and Ariston decided to keep his mood, rather than try to impress someone with no intention of such a thing. He kept his frown, and rolled his eyes at such turn of events. Stretching his wings out to stay alert, he felt one hit a branch delicately, and he watched the snow ellegantly fall. He realized he looked bigger with his wings out, and they hid his slouchy back. He was finally ready for whatever was coming at him.

Was he displaying? Desdemona raised an eyebrow. "What do you here, stallion? Am I a threat?" she practically purred, tilting her chin up slightly. "Surely you do not fear me." A Kalona, posturing and posing, shying like an ordinary horse? No, surely not. There would be other reasons for his behavior, no doubt. Something burned in those golden eyes, and it was not hatred. No... there was no need to express what was so much a part of her being, her very soul. There were other things, more intriguing things to ponder.

"And you're waiting for me, the very soul of courtesy. Really, I must thank you for your formality, but I assure you that it is... unnecessary." It was her way to speak so, to throw those who met her off balance. Her scent spoke of danger. Her voice, while feral at its base, did not. She enjoyed the indecision it caused. An indecision that had occasionally proven fatal. But he was of the demons, so he need not fear her. Assuming he was true to his kind.

'Ah, she spoke..' he thought to himself, as the mysterious female had finally revealed herself. Although there was something dark about her, she was acting nothing like most Kalona mares. Ariston had had his share of dealing with Kalona mares, especially for their extremely violent natures. "No, you are not a threat.." He sighed, being asked that question soooo many times, for some reason by mares more than stallions. "I was just interested to see who was approaching me. I have not seen your face in these parts before, what a shame for me." He smiled at her, but not in his usual perverted manner. Those things would probably result in him being bucked, especially by this one.

"Unneccessary?" He chuckled, holding his composure. "Trust me, I am usually pretty honest on what is neccessary or not." With that he flicked his hair again, feeling it fall around him. His usual self would have either been trying to swoon the mare, or retreating for the sake of his bum getting kicked. With her however, he felt it was an interesting challenge. The challenge was not to sway, no no, it was a challenge of strength, but in a different way. He was holding his tongue almost constantly, only to see if he could truly handle her.
PostPosted: Wed Dec 27, 2006 8:23 pm

So he wanted a challenge, did he? Of course, this begged the question of whether she was a challenge he could truly handle. Probably not. Something wicked glinted in her fiery gaze. Something more wicked than her scent, her presence suggested. "Honesty may get you far, but it is not all that there is to be had in the world, nor does it replace wisdom or knowledge. If you do not know something, you cannot prepare for it. And honestly, stranger," -and she used the word in a rather sardonic way-"this formality is most unnecessary."

She smiled, and it was not a pretty smile. Not the sort designed to attract stallions. Had she the needs of other mares, she might well have attempted to win Ariston, but she did not. Her needs were varied, and different. Diverse. Certainly not at all similar to those which females generally claimed for their own. "A shame? Truly, you cannot know of shame if you think that missing my face is shameful." She curved her neck, watching him from beneath a lock the color of liquid silver, rooted with lilac. A very odd mare indeed.

"Well excuse me, then." He said, scoffing. He had wasted plenty of his wonderful time trying to be formal to these mares, and none of them enjoyed it! "So, would it be better if I were not natural to myself? There is a difference between me being honest and me being natural." He slyly winked at her. Because of her harsh reaction, he realized that he needed not to put in the slightest effort that he usually did. Maybe his Kalona genes would help him out in this situation..it was worth a test shot. He was pissy and bored, anyhow.

"You are correct, I do not know what real shame is." He chuckled, 'man how spicy' he thought to himself. First she was judging his actions, and now his words? What could he do right? Obviously nothing. "I don't possess shame, I posses perfection, pride, glamour. Forgive me, but, " He growled, "Is that wrong by your standards, as well?" His purely white teeth were beginning to glimmer under his lip.

"Perfection? Truly. How fascinating," she drawled, arching her neck and quirking her lips in a profoundly amused way. She was verbally circling him like a hawk, or a shark, intent on some goal that was not immediately obvious. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, fair Narcissus. Tell me, what makes your so perfect? So beautiful to look upon?" For that was what he claimed. "Is it your hair? Hair that would not doubt get caught on thorns and the branches of trees. I can see no benefit to it but that it would be warming." This weather was, after all, cold.

Yet, he was correct. Many doubtless viewed him as perfection itself. Unfortunately, Desdemona had an entirely different standard by which she judged. "Pride is a sin... but sin has always been more appealing than virtue." Of course. "And what other sins do you possess, oh stallion?" She tossed her head, allowing her mane to settle itself into an almost military line. It was beautiful, that much was true... but it held a coldness that Ariston's did not. He spoke of beauty and self indulgence. She spoke of another thing altogether.

"I am glad you are enjoying the idea of perfection, though your opinion matters nothing to me." He eyed her, feeling his body heat sizzle. "So since you are so brilliant, what do you know of perfection then? I am perfect not only in sight, but also in breed, skill, and with treating a woman." He chuckled, wanting to continue. "Though, you do not seem as if you are familiar with such a subject."

But there was one thing that the cruel mare did bring up, and that was HIS hair. "I am sorry you were not born blonde, darling." He said, sneering his teeth, "But your little locks looks like it gives you the same problems as well." The Kalona in his veins wanted him to snap at this weakling, though he was impressed with how she manuvered her words. Lifting his head again, he shook it lightly, feeling that his beautiful goldmine was still there. "My hair is who I am, and like I said, you are just going to have to get over what I am."

Sin. Now that was a sketchy subject. "Many lable Pride as a Sin. To this day I still don't know why. How can loving oneself be a Sin? It isn't a matter of just loving oneself," He paused, glaring at her. "You should look at yourself, you carry pride around as if it were stuck in your hair. And you challenge me to such a thing?" The mare was tough, though what she was rebelling against wasn't going to work on Ariston, not this time. He continued to chuckle at the pride the mare carried herself.
PostPosted: Wed Dec 27, 2006 9:18 pm

"Oh, is it pride you think you see in me?" The wickedness flashed in her eyes, filling them entirely. "My poor little bird, you have broken your wing in your attempts to fly." Desdemona grinned devilishly, revealing teeth not so dissimilar to a Kalona's. There were odd shadows, it seemed... shadows which made her skin seem to ripple in strange and hitherto unseen ways. "Is that what you think of me, son of the demon raven? That it is pride that you see here? Look harder, stallion."

And in the depths of her eyes was an evil most foul. He could die, and she would be pleased with it... because another death would mean one less creature to riddle the world with weakness. But she did not wish for his death now. No, that would be wasteful, and now was not a time to waste what one had on hand (or hoof). "Your mane is quite beautiful, that much is true. But you must admit that it is far more luxurious than mine, and thus it is more likely to tangle. No doubt you guard it jealously."

Was he, perhaps, a bit irritated? Had she put his back up? How delightful. She enjoyed the show of strength. It told her that he was not useless. Another stepping stone into the future that she desired. Perfect. "How do you define sin? Do you feel sin to be... reprehensible? I do not. Sin only means that something is against the morals of a society, and I do not value morality highly." No, she had other interests. Other things of worth.

"But I am not under what you are, so I cannot get over it." A quip, designed to either amuse him or infuriate him... and the distinction was not quite so clear as it had been with her previous comments. Another smile revealed the curve of a canine, most wickedly sharp. A feature shared between their kinds. How charming. A pity she had no place for charm.

"To tell you the truth, I don't know what I see in you. I don't know what you are hiding, or what you want me to see." His purple eyes looked at her, more serious then before. "I don't know what you would expect of such a lowlife as myself. Being a sin, it is what one should expect." He scoffed at her, kicking his leg into a tree angryly. "Why should I waste my time trying to figure out a mare who carries evil beyond words?"

"Tangle isn't in my vocabulary." He said, with the same confidence he always possessed. His ears were twitching with every comment she made about his hair, and his insides felt like they were going to explode. "But I am glad you see the comparison at least."

He thought for a second before answering her, and narrowed his view on her eyes only. He had gotten himself into a mess, indeed it was quite a mess. "It is obvious that there is nothing wrong with sin. It is actually an honor to know that I and seven others are creating such fine specimans of society." He chuckled, but agreed with that part. There was nothing wrong with his sin, at least. "Life is dull as it is, and if I am not creating others who posses a sense of vanity, then it is better to crush those who fail at obtaining it." He was suprised by his words, only because he had never said them so boldly.

Through her devious smile, he was confused by what he saw. 'Sharp.. teeth.' He thought, as the crazy female got.. more crazy on him. 'WHAT IS MY LUCK TODAY' he thought to himself. This female though, was not one to laugh about.

"Why do I feel that I am doing all of the talking?" He asked, with a harsh grin. "Its not that I don't mind but, I am interested in what you have to say as well, especially on sin."
PostPosted: Wed Dec 27, 2006 9:56 pm

"Do you truly see yourself as a lowlife? I cannot believe it. The pride which you claim to have would suggest otherwise." No, it was far more likely that he considered himself to be the pink of the ton... the cream of the crop. The best of the best. Desdemona did not believe for a moment that he was serious in that regard. "I think that that is a question you should ask yourself. Why do you waste your time trying to figure me out?"

Why would someone who saw himself as the most beautiful being in existence wish to figure out a mare who found him without the appeal most would see in him? Perhaps he wished to win her into his worship. Probably not. It was a futile exercise, and whatever else he was, she didn't think him stupid. Foolish, maybe, but not stupid.

"I am not blind to my appearance. It is as it is, and so it will remain." Nor was she caught up in it. That she resembled hellfire itself was only of faint interest to her. Her appearance alone would not bring about her wishes, and she did not find it a useful angle to pursue. "Life is wasted on many who do not deserve its embrace. Death is a much more fitting state for the majority of the population." She allowed a hint of her beliefs to show through, but only a hint. "Does it surprise you that you feel so strongly?"

"Perhaps you enjoy hearing your own voice," she suggested almost mildly. "I can't imagine why you might find my insights to be interesting... when you are Sin itself. That is what you are, is it not? You hold yourself as though you are Pride. Also, your earlier reference to the numbers of your fellows suggests that you believe that you are what I have said. Why listen to another voice when you clearly find your own to be so enticing?" Another reference to Narcissus, but only an indirect one.

"What can I say to you that you will find as intriguing as your own words, your own views?" She arched her neck again, pawing at the snow. "Sin is what it is. One man's poison is another man's cure. No doubt you enjoy it. I can see that you do. Sin is one form of behavior, virtue is another. Little separates them but the ideas of Soquili." Views, ideologies. Trains of thought. Things that Desdemona had very little use for.

All Ariston felt at this moment was a headache. The low-life act obviously wasn't something that she would buy, he felt dumb for even trying it. At this point though, he had no way of slinking around her words. "You are intriguing, so I thought it would be alright to see what you are. At this point, it is doing nothing but driving me insane. I hope that was your main goal, congratulations if it was."

His hair felt heavy on his pulsing head, and he was beginning to growl from it. "Fine, this is how I see it. I came in here with a challenege I thought I could take. Don't get me wrong missy, I stomp you in many different ways, though, especially beauty wise.." He sighed, just wanting her to stop playing with his mind. "Death?" He heard her say. That was something a little harsh for him. He enjoyed playing with the minds of others, but she obviously was at a higher level with this sort of thing. "I don't use such tactics. In your eyes, that must be weak, then?"

"Of course I enjoy hearing my own voice," he snapped. "But everytime I say someting, you pick at it like a piece of meat. You pick and pick and pick until there are flies also helping you destroy it." His eyes were starting to get red in veins, and the air coming out of his nose felt hotter than before.

"Thank you for giving me all of this insight," He said, colder than before, "But what is YOUR problem. Seriously, I can see that your way of doing things is a way of attack, which by the way is impressive. If I could applaud you I would," He raised an eyebrow. "But you have reached a point where I can't even listen to you anymore. I asked you about yourself because what I say obviously has no meaning ANYWAYS." He realized he was yelling, but didn't care anymore. Why should he have manners for the crazy abomonination anyways.

He put his head down, blocking whatever else she was saying for that moment. He didn't believe in the inner-peace whatever, but he felt better knowing she wasn't tearing apart his mind.
