SaiHina, How and Why?
This is going to be the post where I try and convince you, the confused reader, that SaiHina isn't completely crack, and that it actually has a good chance of happening, if we trust Kishimoto isn't a total sexist.
Now, almost everyone that I know who supports Sai at all, and has pairings for him, love SaiIno. Now, I have nothing truthfully against the fans, it's the pairing that annoys me. It is, like many other pairings that I dislike, a couple that has the girl crushing on the guy when in Shonen Manga, you'd expect it to be vice versa.
Other pairings I dislike that use this 'logic' are SasuSaku, NaruHina, SasuIno and NejiTen.
You'll see a patern - female crushing on the boy. These couples would be even more logical if Naruto was Shojo - but it's not, so that makes them really a lot less likely to happen. Believe it
So, onto SaiHina - how exactly would this work out?
You must admit, Kishimoto has neglected Hinata greatly as a character. She has only ever really been noticed by Naruto, Kiba, Shino, Neji, and Kurenai. Even the female characters don't really talk to her. So, wouldn't have Sai notice her bring upon some BIG CHANGES?
Now, here's an idea I'm using for a fanfiction.
Since Kishimoto can't neglect Hinata any longer, let's say he has Sai meet her. It's likely he'll remember what Sakura said about giving nicknames, and study Hinata, looking for something to call her. Seeing how stuttery and shy she is around Naruto, he'll realize something.
She truly is beautiful beyond belief. Unlike Sakura and Ino, she's shy, quiet, and has a cute blush. She's different - and it's obvious she's not a fangirl of that b*****d Sasuke (from Sai's point of view. <<<>>>) but of Naruto. Seeing how different she is - he'd think she was beautiful. And he'd probably say something about her.
Now, wouldn't that be an interesting twist? And then, perhaps, Hinata would blush, mumble a quick thank you, and have a hard time talking to him? And perhaps she'd grow a love interest for Sai, seeing how kind he is, and seeing that he actually notices her, unlike Naruto. (Sorry NaruHina lovers! You've gotta admit...Naruto sees Hinata as no more than a good friend.)
Really, I think something could develop quite well between these characters.

SaiHina - If It's So Likely, Why Haven't I Noticed It?
If you're completely new to this pairing, and have never even heard of it before this thread, it's most likely because, well, it's not the most popular pairing ever. Almost everyone in the Gaia community of Naruto fans knows about NaruHina, SasuSaku, and NaruSaku, but I doubt even a third of the fans know about SaiHina.
Why? Because one, Sai is a newer character in the manga. And two, everyone is so focused about NaruHina, or another Hinata pairing, they barely even see Sai getting with Hinata, because they have currently had no interraction - it's basically a MUCH less popular SasuHina. And yet, doesn't it truthfully have more of a chance than SasuHina?
Most people don't notice it because of the fanbase - and it's not that NaruHina. Perhaps it's SaiIno that people chose to see, or they just block out SaiHina because it just seems like so much crack that it's painful. Of course, I have grown a great liking for these two as a pairing - even though it's quite unpopular/neutral among the fans.
If this is your first time experiencing anything SaiHina, and you'd like to know more, just search the internet! There's not much, even on google, but you still might come across something you find interesting. PMing me is also a good idea, if you'd like to hear even more about my opinion on this pairing.

If you have/know any fanfictions/AMVs based around this pairing, please tell me! I'll be uploading a SaiHina AMV later today, but it's a slideshow, and it basically sucks...Of course, I know there are a few fanfictions, so here's where they will go.

After reading your NaruSaku post, and getting very inspired by it, I decided to give this one a try too. I gotta say, this was fantastically done as well. Especially considering how small of a fanbase this pairing seems to have as of yet (Or so I'm guessing from what you wrote); that probably made it harder to make this. This pairing sounds interesting to me, from what you wrote, and I think I'll give it a try. Though, I'll wait a bit before I do so, so I can do my research as I know only a little about Sai himself. For now, though, I have to say neutral on this one. ^_^ Anyways, great job so far! I'll try to check this pairing out soon!
