Sukari skulked through the tall grasses on her way back to her "home." The moonlight glistened on her back as she sorted her way through the grass. She hadn't missed her birthplace one bit since she left, but it was time to return. She had grown strong and confident. She would meet her mother again, and this time, her mother wouldn't be able to ignore her. She smirked a toothy grin, eagerly awaiting the day she could finally get her revenge.

She didn't care that it was her mother she was going against. She didn't even consider the female her mother. She considered that lionness the sole reason her life had been so hard. She had had to leave, or die. She had known it, and chose life.

Her thoughts turned back to the oncoming fight. Yes, everything would go as planned. Sukari chuckled quietly, continuing on through the night.

A large slanted back rose and fell as the sleeping behemoth lay on her belly, white tipped paws crossed and a white chin resting on her crossed ankles. The large ex-firekin lioness was quite the sight to behold, from her sheer size to her fiery fur to her scars that raked down the left side of her body.

With each deep breath that she took in, the lioness' eyes flickered and her horrid looking scars shimmered in the moonlight from how the sun had baked them so smooth.

Normally she was awake during the day, normally she was travelling when she was awake and thinking of places to go when she was resting or sleeping. The lioness knew that in order to be able to relax she was going to have to stress herself first, she was going to have to work. Eventually when she found the Ela' then Khepri knew she would be forced to calm down and finally relax, but until that day the large lioness was nothing but skin, bone and solid muscle from how much she ran around.

This moment, when her sharp golden eyes were closed and ehr body was lax, this was the calmest time of her existance as of late.

Sukari stopped to take a break. She herself had been working too hard to get there. If she continued at this pace with no break, she would be weakened already before the fight begins... She wouldn't allow that.

She stopped and sat in the grass, not feeling like sleeping yet. A frown creased her face as she scanned the horizon for anything to eat. A figure in the distance caught her attention. She crept up to it, close enough to be able to tell what it was.

A lionness. Sleeping. "Hmmp," Sukari grunted. Lazy monster, Sukari thought as she watched the crimson beast's ribs oscillate in its sleep. From the scars, the animal was nothing to startle. Sukari decided to just try to pass it by, and continued onward, watching it the whole time.

She, however, startled some small animal that made a loud squeal. Sukari glared in the direction of the sound, hoping the lionness wouldn't wake.

A golden eye snapped open and the large lioness stood up slowly, her body rolling as she unravled her tail from her hind legs. Once she was completely up the lioness was a true sight. All muscle and stocky body, Khepri was proportioned but she was the size of a middle sized god or goddess.

It had just been a bird or something, nothing for her to really worry about. Her reaction had been immediate, from the time the noise had been made until the time she was up had been a few nano-seconds in the making and now she was left staring with blazing gold eyes at the dark lioness with the white stripes on her shoulders and the flower on her a**.

Letting out a yawn and keeping her feet purely out of respect despite her evident exhaustion, Khepri nodded her head to the other and blinked away the film that had rolled over her eyes the moment she realized she wasn't in any immediate danger.

"Anotha' nigh' walkah then are yo'?" Khepri asked out as she squared her large shoulders and ruffled her soft, thin fur to release the heat that had been sucked up by the hollow fur that rested on her body. That had been one of the adaptations her kind had made for the desert home they inhabited.

((XD))
Sukari swiveled to face the lazy beast, a look of extreme displeasure spread across her face. "I'm not a night walker," she spat. "I just happen to be travelling at night."

What a dumb creature, Sukari thought. It can't even talk properly! What a waste of time. She rolled her eyes impatiently. She didn't have any energy she could waste on this big moron.

"Look," Sukari said, annoyed, "I'm just looking for a place to rest for the night, so if you'll pardon me..." Sukari said, trying to get around the big lionness.

A thought dawned on Khepri that there was a place she knew of just to the south a little... towards the Mistweaver lands, that this lioness could rest. As rude as she was she was still another being.

"Ah know a place yo' can stay at if yo' wan'. It's safe for yo' at least." Khepri said slowly, her golden eyes flashing as she saw the insults in the other lionesses eyes.

This was why Khepri didn't open her mouth around newcomes, this was why she didn't trust well and why she didn't make friends too often.

No, it's just cuz you're an idiot.

You can't hold conversation because you were never taught hot to speak.

The voices goaded her once more and Khepri simply blinked to ignore them, rather than ramming her head into the ground like she so desperatly wanted to.

((*feels bad for Khepri and hugs her* >.<))
Oh great, Sukari thought. Well.... I do need shelter. I don't know where it is, personally, Sukari thought.

A strange look spread across her face as she started to speak again. "I suppose I could go there," Sukari said reluctantly.

She really didn't want to, but beggars can't be chosers, she supposed.

Not really one to stand and chat about the birds and the flowers, Khepri turned and started to walk towards the destination, striding past the female towards the little den made by ratels.

"Jus' follo' meh." Was her simple response to the other, her larger paws carrying her a little slower than normal thanks to the exhaustion she was dealing with.

Without saying a word, Sukari followed the slow beast closely. She hated following, and hated being dependent. If there was anything she had learned in her life, it was that weakness killed you. Kindness, affection, compassion... these were all cousins to weakness, and would lead one to the same fate. Sukari had learned that without these traits, she could survive. She hated weakness.

So she skulked about a shoulder's length behind the large firekin, not wanting to show too much reliance.

Khepri also knew that she wasn't welcome sometimes, in fact she knew that she wouldn't be wanted by just about anyone. So she picked up a little bit of speed despite her exhaustion in the hopes of getting there faster.

It really was only around the bend, that was why she was so lucky. The hate that was directed at someone else woudln't be directed at her for very much longer.

Sukari continued to follow Khepri, wondering when they'd get there. She gained a bit of "happiness" if you could call it that, at the faster pace. Hopefully it'd be close, and hopefully the huge lionness would leave her alone. She doubted it though, and that made her skulk behind even more.

She continued on in awkward silence, but Sukari wasn't going to be the one to break it.

Paws left barely a mark as the tapped the ground and Khepri finally came to a stop. Her eyes watched as the other lioness came up and she nodded to the little alcove in the ground.

"G' sleep there. Ah need ta be movin' an' Ah know Ah'm no' welcome." That was all she said to the other before turning and walking back where she'd come at a decently slower pace. Her shoulders shivered with the movement but sheer stubborness kept her paws moving over the crisp grass. Of course Khepri didn't begrudge the lioness that she'd woken her from the first sleep she'd had in almost three days, but the lioness' attitude didn't make it any easier on her.

So here she was, keeping herself moving to find what she'd spent months looking for. Maybe in the direction she was headed there would be a way to discover the Ela', heck.. maybe they were even there.

Sukari said nothing as the large firekin meandered off into the night. Once Khepri was out of earshot, she started mumbling to herself, "Good riddance. I don't think I could even stand a night with that... thing." She put a paw near her eyes, as if she had a headache.

There was no time for headaches now. She'd have to travel far, and she was certain she'd be at the mistweaver lands soon. Then the battle of her life would take place...

Sukari laid her head on her paws and slid her eyes shut in the new place. By sunrise, she'd be gone.
