To Calamity, it had been quite the dry spell since the appearance of a new Kalona. He had heard very little from Rot and Maeryn's brood, though he supposed he was the one that owed a visit. Despite their rough words in the past, he was as fond of the family as he could possibly be. His sense of shared heritage was stronger than the wounded pride of his youth, and he'd matured with time.
Facing his own future family with NightShade, Cal felt a newfound sense of strength and calm, and also a growing desire to see his secret dreams realized.
It was quite fitting then, when the various ducks of his life fell into a row, that a new scent was carried on the wind to him as he sat on the shore of the lake. He smirked with knowing as he set of in the direction of the new kalona. It was about time something interesting happened...

Gwee flew over the lake, soaring over head a Kalona stallion. Gwee smiled at the sight of another Kalona, she had not seen one in these lands since her arrival. Gwee swooped down to the Kalona, her feet dragging in the lake's water as she skidded over to the shore by the Kalona. Stopping suddenly, she let some water splash at the Kalona as Gwee began to walk onto the shore.
"Hello there," she said, tilting her head as she examined the Kalona. Gwee circled around the stallion, examining his body closely. Finally, she came face to face with him and looked him the eye, giving him the look of death. It wasn't that Gwee already had negative opinions formed on him, its just that Gwee hated just about everyone she crossed paths with.

Calamity watched his inspector with a bored, disinterested glare, and sized her up calmly. She seemed quite...draconian was the word that seemed to suit her most appropriately, and in more ways than one. But she was appealing enough, though his bias was pervasive enough that he had never seen a kalona mare that hadn't been, at first glance, attractive.
No, he snorted a little and smirked, Necro was never much of a looker.
Snapping his attention back to the matter before him, Calamity's eyes brightened as he returned her glare with one of subtle interest and bowed his head. The was always the hope that she was nowhere near as mental damaged as his mother and sister. He hadn't seen it in her eyes.
"My name is Calamity."
He spoke simply and evenly, without a shred of layered meaning or emotion. Better to see right away what the mare's character was. He was no stranger to power games, but his nature was currently being overwhelmed by his impatient mind.

"Hello, Calamity," said Gwee. "My name? Hrm, well, that is something I may tell you, in due time. For now, I think I will torture you with the curiosity."
Gwee paused and looked off slightly, as if in thought. "It is fun, is it not? Torturing those inferior to us? Inferior to our race?" asked Gwee with a mischevious smile. "I find it fun, at least. Oh, the look on their faces as they plea for mercy, there isn't a thing in this world that can compare to the joy that it gives me."
Gwee circled around Calamity some more, eyeing him cautiously. The stallion apppeared to be strong and powerful, cut out right for a Kalona. Gwee smiled happily.

Calamity listened to the mare, his nose twitching as he resisted the urge to chuckle. His emerald eyes glittered as he considered her words. She was, he concluded instantly, of quite admirable Kalona stock. And the playfully, sadistic joy she took in her superiority...so full and resolute...Cal was unnervingly pleased.
"But if you delight in torturing your inferiors, dear, and insist on tormenting me by witholding your name...am I to assume you believe yourself superior to me as well? I'm hurt."
He emphasized the last words slowly, with deliberate, benign, mock despair.
Her smile, he decided, was something to be feared. It was much too pretty and disarming.

Gwee grinned slightly, the stallion had some sense of humor at least.
"Of course I find myself a superior to you," said Gwee, as if it were common knowledge that she was far more powerful than Calamity. "You must not know a thing about me, otherwise you would know that. I suppose I can tell you some information about myself, but that wouldn't be torturing you now, would it?"

"True," Calamity replied, nodding solemnly and slowing pacing back and forth before her, "but how can I know my proper place without being given good reason? Fear and inferiority are sentiments that must be instilled into others. It seldom happens naturally...especially with stubborn creatures such as myself."
He smirked and raised his eyebrows slightly. "In other words, prove it."
He confidence was inspired, but the true test here was not one of physical prowess, but of verbal sparring, a skill Calamity always held in high esteem. And so far, Gwee was impressive in...many facets.

Gwee smirked, oh, he was asking for it. Gwee laughed quietly as she prepared to 'prove' herself to Calamity. Hrm, shall her target be him, or just nothing? Gwee tilted her head up and blew out a flame, aiming it away from Calamity. Stopping the flame, she then turned to the stallion Kalona and smiled wickedly.
"Top that," challenged Gwee.

The mare's sudden pyrotechnic exhibition was quite successful in halting the stallion in his tracks. Fire, seriously? He nodded in benign concession and smirked. "If I could, I certainly would. That's quite the parlor trick your got there, little girl. I'll think twice before crossing you."
He considered the possible percentage of Kalona that could possess the same or an equivalent power. He'd done much traveling and not met anything close. This was a very special mare, and best of all...she knew it. And loved it. Calamity liked her immensely.
"Ah well, you've certainly put me in my place," he chuckled. "But how about a name...as a consolation prize?"

Gwee smiled and very slowly leaned in closely to Calamity, putting her mouth up near his ear, as if she were about to tell him a deeply intimate secret. She slowly opened her mouth, ready to speak. "No," she said, then slowly pulling away from him. "I think I may torture you a bit more. Torture you with the desire to get to know me. But I know your name, Calamity. Doesn't the curiosity just kill you?"

Calamity couldn't stifle the loud, barking laugh. Gwee's cruelty was inspired. The truth was, he did want to know. She had played him like the meanest violin, but it hadn't irked him in the slightest. But she had managed to picque his curiousity, for better or worse.
"I owe you, my friend. And believe that I will pay this torment in kind some day..." He smiled and tossed his mane amiably. She'd played her hand expertly. Calamity doubted he would have given her a second thought in other situations...but she was clever and deviant, certainly worthy of keeping an eye on.
He chuckled and shook his head again. "You're a mean little dragon. But I generally approve of you, even as nameless as you seem to be. And for the record, I am entirely within my rights to give you as awful a nickname as I see fit."
He smirked darkly, speading his mighty wings and giving them a powerful flap before resettling them on his back. Calamity was certainly no masochist, and gave just as good as he got.

Gwee yawned as Calamity threatened his revenge on her. Ah, the revenge threat, Gwee had heard it so many times. Of course, noone has ever gotten their revenge on Gwee, those who try to mess with her at all are usually later found dead and burnt. "An awful nickname? Ooh, I'm terrified," said Gwee sarcastically. "You don't seriously think you can ever get revenge on me now, do you? I mean, seriously, you know you don't have a prayer of a chance of getting slightest bit of revenge, right? Or at least, not before I get the chance to kill you." Gwee smiled tauntingly.

"Not that you've done something to warrant a physical assault, my fiery friend, though I don't put it past you. I don't know you well enough." He raised a sigle eyebrow. "I don't even know your name."
"But while I applaud your confidence, it is generally a bad idea to underestimate your opponents. Especially me. I may not spit flames, but really have no idea what I'm capable of, do you?"
He nodded with finality, no longer caring to hear the mare spout asinine threats. It was beneath her and any other kalona. A waste of time better spent doing more productive things...like threatening the inferior soquili races. Or better yet, actually acting on said threats.

"Foolish stallion," said Gwee, swinging her body and tail around to have her spiked tail fly towards Calamity, then stop, having the pointy tip of her demonic tail point at Calamity's throat. Gwee leaned in, breathing out a small flame for a moment, not too far from Calamity's face. "Don't underestimate me either." Gwee lowered her voice down to a whisper. "I want to hear you beg for mercy," she said. "Only then will I tell you my name."

"Don't think I'm as foolish as you are, pet. I never would." He smirked arrogantly, even as ther tip of her tail threated his throat. He leaned in just enough to allow the tip to make contact with his pure white coat.
With a throaty growl, he narrowed his eyes. "Even if I wanted to know your name that badly, I have never had to beg for a thing in my life. And I never would."
That was a satisfaction she could NEVER have from him.
