Amaterasu yawned and stretched, watching beneath her feet. On this day, she saw that her pups had already taken off, likely exploring the nearby land. She wasn't afraid, not in the Pridelands. They had understood the rules when she had laid them down earlier. She had confidence they'd be ok. She squinted as the bright daylight hit her eyes. She hadn't gotten much sleep since the pups were born. They were already up and moving... They're such a handful... but cute,Ammy thought to herself as the picture of the morning hit her eyes.

"MOOOOOOOMMMMMYYYYYY!" Ukabe called as he ran towards his mom with all the strength and speed he could muster from his tiny body. He skidded to a halt but sightly crashed into her legs. But he was smiling and bouncing up and down. "Mommy! Can we play? Pleeease I really want to play can we walk around and see everything please please please?" he begged.

Amaterasu couldn't help but laugh at the little pup's energy.
"Yes yes, we can play. I'll take you..." Amaterasu paused to think... where would be fun? And safe?
"To the watering hole," Ammy finished. "The big one, not the small one nearby, it's a bit of a walk, you want to go?" Amaterasu asked. Her life had been so full of life since the pups came.

"Oh mom can we can we please?" he asked with the most cheesy look upon his maw. His grin a toothy long grin. He just wanted to play with his mommy. Plus, the word of water made him jump up. He loved the water, loved playing in puddles. Perhaps there would be fish in a bigger watering hole!
"Canw e go now, please??" he begged. Almost unable to keep himself calm and steady while he stood.

Amaterasu smiled and watched her son wiggle excitedly. The place would be a wonderful to spend the day, and who knew? They might just run into someone interesting along the way.
"Yes, yes, We can go now," Ammy said with a smile. Although, I'd like to take the both of them there... Oh well. I guess Taka can come some other day, Ammy thought peacefully. She started off in the direction Kaede had lead her in not so long ago, watching over her shoulder to make sure Ukabe could keep up.

Ukabe bounced after his mother. He loved her dearly and pranced around her legs, in between them and around them as they both walked on. He giggled and jumped sideways and rolled on the ground. Sneezed from the dirt that touched his nose. Laughed, got up and walked by her side again. "Are we there yet?...how about now? Now?" he was anxious, and his tail was wagging full force.

Ammy always slowed down when Ukabe weaved himself around her footsteps, scared to step on him. She giggled at his extreme happiness at everything, glad to have him as her own. Never could she have asked for better sons.
"Look up there, over the crest of the hill," Ammy encouraged. Over the crest was a strip of silver, shimmering, reflecting the sun's light in all directions. Thier destination loomed ahead. "Race ya," Ammy offered her son.

Ukabe bounced upon the ground, he crouched down, raised his hind quarters in the air and grinned up at his mommy with an 'I'm so gonna win' grin. But then he thought of something, she had longer legs! Not fair! "Your legs are longer mommy! Is that fair?" he asked tilting his head. He wanted to win, in one way or another, but he wanted to make sure things were fair first.

Amaterasu smiled. She had planned on letting the pup win, but... it seemed he was onto her. The solution, however, crept quickly into her head.
"How about I give you a head-start to make up for my longer stride?" Amaterasu offered. It would work, and it evened the playing feild. She did appreciate how sharp her sons were, she had learned so much from them.

"Okay mom!" Ukabe then crouched down again, wriggled his but in the air, then took off as fast as his small legs would carry him. Surely he could win if he kept this speed up! But then again, mom was fast, perhaps she could catch up quickly? He just kept running as fast as he could, perhaps he might win afterall.

Amaterasu watched carefully her son's attention. If he were to turn around, he'd see her loping easily after she had decided he was far enough ahead. However, he'd never be able to see her casual lope. She had become quite the seer over time, and would be able to know in advance when he'd turn around.
By now she could summon visions in the place and tense she wanted, and could move while she had a vision. She kept with the very close future, and right ahead of her. However, she still wasn't able to stop random visions, and she doubted she ever would. Still, she was quite content with her ability, and couldn't wait to see if one of her pups developed it.
She was getting close now... She stopped the vision and picked up the pace, to make it a close race. Now she just needed to see what would happen.

Ukabe turned to look at his mommy...she was catching up! Oh no! He turned around and tried to speed up, but his legs were getting tired, so close...so close there it was! He turned around to grin at his mother, when he tripped over something and hit the ground and skid a few feet. When he stopped, he looked to one of his forelegs, folded his ears back and started to cry.
He scraped his leg, it hurt...

The problem caught Ammy's ears before her eyes. She hadn't yet had her sons cry like this; cry out of pain. She sped as fast as she could past the remaining distance between the two and quickly laid down with Ukabe between her paws. The sound of his crying was heart-wrenching, she would happily take the pain from him if possible.
Ammy could see the scrape and started to clean it, saying calming words to her son inbetween licks.

Ukabe was not a happy puppy. His leg stung, and even though his mommy probably knew best, her tongue made it hurt. He had tears in his eyes, he wanted to be big and strong! Not hurt himself by running. His ears fell back and he curled against his mother's side. He sniffled and wrapped his tail around himself, he didn't even get to finish the race.
And to top it off his leg hurt now...how would he be able to play later?

Once she deemed the wound clean, Amaterasu stopped licking her son's cut. She snuggled him at her side and said, "Don't worry, you'll be up and running again in no time, you'll see. Today, even! It'll heal in 5 minutes tops," Ammy said. She knew pups were quick to recover if they still wanted to play. She licked the little diamond on his forehead encouragingly, but not meaning to rush him. He'd get up when he felt he was ready, and only Ukabe could make that choice.
