How are the tri-cities? I haven't heard much about them...ever. Are they like Seattle downtown, Spokan, Suburban or really urban? Why are they better known as the tri-cities than their own separate names?
Haven't checked this post in a while but I will give it a try to answer. So in your order of questions.
How are the Tri-cities: Just fine thanks for asking, not sure how else to answer this one.
Like Seattle, Spokane, Urban sub-urban, rural?: I would not call Spokane Urban really, but neither is it rural. I would say we are a bit more rural than Spokane. I can't remember what we are related to population wise, the big difference is in compactness of the downtown areas, and how much "culture" we have. Not so much on the entertainment side of things and not as good marketing for the region as Spokane.
Why the Tri-Cities?: Well they are right across the street or river from each other, and sometimes Richland is closer to you than the other side of Kennewick. So being so close to each other is part of the reason. Also for demographics when assessing client/shopper potential or community infrastructure all three need to be taken into consideration.
Hope that clears up or confuses you.
