Can't you see the irony of it though?
Sasuke = Rejecting Sakura to kill Itachi.
Itachi = Accepting Sakura and finding some sort of happiness
Sakura = Caught in between two Uchihas. <3

ninja Itachi was mentally unstable and his family and clan as a whole pushed him to the breaking point. Personally, I think that of all people who should've died and did was his father, for destroying Itachi's childhood.

We still don't really know why he killed his entire clan.
For all we know it could've been some really dark and angsty reason.

Eh, Kishimoto can't bear to kill his own characters half of the time.
Maybe though, its true NARUTO is dark to a certain degree, and looking at the villains may be a lot different.

I could never see Sakura in love with Itachi, or the other way around.

I love them as a lusty/angsty/tragedy pairing. It's pretty easy to see if a fanfiction is going to be bad, one can tell just by reading the first three sentences.
