^_^;; mmkay. I put velcro on my little Emilie's head beucause her wig hates me and kept jumping off, it's perminant i think...but it won't be bad for her, will it? like her head won't start to esplode? Dx

And also, I took her headcap off jsut for a peek, and was all "WOAH! S HOOK!" because..well, i didn't know it was attached to the top of her headcap, and now she has a mild case of Crazy Legs. >-x Is there any way of adjusting her without completely restringing her??

The velco is fine( but will come off after a time.....just replace it then) and reattach the S Hook if you havent already. If not, your only choice is restringing

Toshi, I'd suggest wrapping a rubber band or two around the circumferance of Em's head. I do that with Thack and his wig's been staying on just fine. It doesn't "stick" but it keeps his wig on fairly well. It's pretty simple with no real fuss. biggrin

Depends, if the legs are floppy and loose, then yes, you need to restring to tighten her. However, if the string is too tight and causing the legs to kick like crazy and not be able to stand, then you can just try and stretch the elastic just a bit by posing them a certain way (I left mine sitting with his legs under him.. japanese style, I guess? and that worked) and leaving them like that overnight.

Restringing isn't so scary though. As long as you have a ribbon you can use to pull the elastic through, you shouldn't have too much of a problem, should you need to restring.’

Velcro won't hurt your doll any. I actually got one of my dolls straight from the doll company with velcro on her head (because her oh so gorgeous curly wig wouldn't stay on without it, the back was just to heavy). My problem with it was that was that the sticky back gave out more easily then the little velcro hooks.

i'd recommend doing the rubber band head wrapping trick more than velcro since it's less permanent. but if you do use rubber bands, check them every now and then because some get brittle and gross when they get old and can stick to the head

Just a comment:

although velcro sticks to the wigs, and sometimes leaves slightly sticky residue on the headcap that can fairly easily be removed; I have heard that rubber bands can actually DAMAGE the headcap by putting enough pressure on it to make an indentation in the resin if you leave the rubber band on the head for long periods of time. This doesn't mean I don't use rubber bands, because I do, but I figured I'd let you all know that rubber bands can cause permanent damage.

I don't mean to push brand products but Volks sells wig velcro. It's not normal velcro and doesn't have little hooks. Little hooks are BAD FOR WIGS. They can pull at the fibers and completely ruin mohair. Not all the time, but it can happen.

This stuff is basically little strips of plastic with little numbs on it that catch the wig without damaging it. So far it's been great for keeping my dolls wigs on. The only exceptions are where the wig is MUCH larger than the dolls head.
