Y'know those really cheap mats that have like.. two layers of plastic material that bunch up while you dance? (Madcatz, I think...)
Well, since my RO Ignition never came in the mail (grr...) I had to settle for one of those.
But now that I've fixed it up a little, it works like a charm.
I just got a thin piece of plywood, a bit bigger in width/length than the actual mat.
Then a big sheet of thin clear plastic material.
Then just put the mat ontop of the plywood, and put the plastic over it and pulled it really tight and just stapled around the edges, on the plywood (not the actual mat). Then I just stuck some non-slip rubber grips on the bottom side of the plywood.
So now the mat never bunches up, moves, or gets dirty.
It's a really nice alternative if you don't have the money to get a good mat. 3nodding

Ah yes, the trusty soft pad mod. I wish I had done that with my Xbox pad.

i modded my first dance pad two summers ago (i think) using the instructions on DDRFreak.com. i had the "stay cool" mat and got some plywood for the base and this hardwood floor covering that had nice little raised grips on it from home depot for around $2.50 a foot (if i remember correctly). then i used staplegun and duct tape to hook it all together and it turned out and worked fabulously (until my pad died of overuse last summer). now ive got 2 gamestop pads (which are just a bit too big to fit in the modding), a tempremental wireless pad, and my beautiful heart Ignition pad heart . if youre looking for a way to mod your pads then id say definately go with the ddrfreak modding. (i think the total cost on mine was no more than $20-25 btw.)
good luck!

I've been meaning to do pretty much that exactly. But I haven't gotten around to it yet. (Those are the only pads I own!)
Well, no, I own 2 Madcatz, and... 4 Naki's I think. Of course, only 3 of the pads work, and even so, they're not great. sweatdrop One day I'll do it though... *triumphant stance*
