"Sister..."

A pause. No answer.

"Sister, please don't scare me. You know I don't like it when you do that."

Still nothing (not that he'd be able to hear anyways). The earless pup wandered carefully through the forest. Mother had left them on their own again and he had done his best to keep up with his sister, where ever she had gone. But he wasn't exactly the best at anything, and so it wasn't long until he had been lost in the dust. His tail tucked between his legs as he let out a pitiful whimper.

"Sister.." he called again, hoping she was somewhere nearby. He couldn't smell her, and he most definately couldn't hear her. He had wondered why it had to be him who was born without ears. It seemed to cause him all sorts of trouble. His mother seemed to hate him because of it and she always yelled at him because he couldn't understand what she was telling him half the time. Father had said it was a gift, but it didn't seem like it to the little guy.

"Kraken!" he called, louder this time. "Mommy told us to stay in one place," he murmured. It was obvious he was the scaredy-cat and pansy of the two pups. It was also apparent that he was a momma's boy, despite the fact that his momma hated him and wished he'd fall off a cliff somewhere.

But that was besides the point.

What little luck Amoy was having was atleast better than his sister. True when it came to sounds Amoy was in the dark, but when it was sight, Kraken only saw darkness.

It was almost funny that each of the twins had a disability. One could see but not hear, the other could hear but not see. Kraken was easily annoyed by this fact.

While Amoy was scolded and yelled at by their mother he, atleast, couldn't hear it. Kraken felt some small pang of sympathy but was otherwise unaffected by Kiah's grumbling. Her mother's scoldings meant very little to her.

But some things she did prefer to hear. At the moment it was any call from Amoy. As his voice reached her ears she growled and pushed blindly through a bush. A branch snapped back and whacked her square across her forehead.

Stumbling backwards head over heels the pup yelped loudly in surprise and began a quick tumble down a rather bumpy slope. Darn this place and its uneven surfaces.

By the time she reached the bottom Kraken was a jumbled mess of pup and tree roots. Growling as best she could for someone her age she squirmed and chewed uselessly at her bonds.

The commotion from both pups attracted a rather curious visitor. Lestat stood positively puzzled next to the redish pup as she struggled.

What do we do? Who is it? Who cares? Let's go find someone to bite.

Although, according to Amoy, his sister was way better off than he could ever be. She at least had all of the parts that a wolf was supposed to have. She couldn't see, but at least she had eyes. He couldn't hear and he didn't have ears either. It was a total bummer.

"Sister!" he called again, for a moment forgetting that he actually wouldn't be able to hear his sister if she called back to him. But that didn't matter, he wanted to find her and that was it. He didn't care how he had to find her, he just didn't want to be lost anymore. What if mother stumbled upon him out here, helpless and such? She'd probably yell at him and hit him with her nose like she always did. He had at least a couple of bruises from it all.

Suddenly he sensed something through the pads on the bottom of his little paws. Since he couldn't hear, his other senses seemed hightened and intensified. It was very faint, but he felt it nonetheless. It was like a thud, and he could almost hear it... except for the little fact that he didn't have any ears.

Shaking his fur, he bounced over in the direction he thought the thud might have come from. The wind changed and he could now smell his sister. Good! Following the scent like he had learned to do, he eventually found his way towards his sister. Finding her in a heap on the ground, he whimpered and threw himself upon her.

"Sister! Sister I was so scared!" he cried, his body shaking. He didn't even notice the other wolf.

Kraken yelled a steady stream of curses and woes. It was ok, in her mind. Amoy couldn't hear, and she didn't even care if mother heard. Though a bit more respect would have likely done her well. She was a princess and that meant everyone was beneath her.

"Amoy! Get off you sissy! Don't be such a baby!" she screech with her throat going ragged. He really needed to learn to communicate with her. His antics where almost life threatening with the severity of their wussy-ness.

"Get these things off me." She hissed while wriggling some more. Which wasn't so easy when you were wrapped in vines and had your brother slumped on top of you.

Lestat felt completely and utterly ignored. Which was an improvement atleast. Because he could see Kraken's nose begin to swing suspiciously in his direction. She was the first of the twins to realize that someone foreign was about.

"Just who are you?" she growled, the attempt making her throat vibrate.

For a minute Lestat just looked all around, anywhere but at them, and then scuffed his foot against the ground. "Well, gee. I'm Lestat."

Becker wasn't half as bland as Lestat. There were a million things he would have said. Or atleast pointed out. Such as the fact that those two pups obviously were insane. The girl acted odd, and the boy could have practically cried it seemed.

Evem on the other hand pitied them. We should help them. He cooed to two unacknowledging other personalities.

"Who are you two? And how come I've never seen either of you before?" he took a step towards Amoy and poked him curiously with a paw.

Unable to hear his sister, Amoy remained piled on top of her for at least another minute. It was only after she began wriggling and he couldn't keep himself thrown over her that he fell back onto his paws and shook out his fur. His back was still turned to Lestat, however, and so he didn't notice him quite yet.

"Sister," he began. "You've got this stuff all over you." He seemed genuinely surprised at this discovery, since he hadn't heard her tell him to get it all off of her. Almost out of habit, though, he began to n** at the things and pull them slowly away from her body. He was careful, however, since he was more of a girl than his sister and much more sensitive.

He continued pulling the vines off up until he was poked by Lestat's paw. His eyes shot wide open and he whirled completely around, almost sending up a nasty dirt cloud.

Attempting to read the other pup's lips, he tilted his head. But all he could get from the other was the word 'before'. Whimpering, he turned himself towards his sister. "What'd he say?"

To Kraken's satisfaction Amoy had pulled away enough of the vines and roots that she felt able squirm out of them. Pulling herself into a sitting position beside Amoy she didn't feel entirely settled until atleast some part of her was touching her brother. He was emotional, sure, but it was comforting atleast to some degree.

Shaking her head and body but too disgruntled to get up Kraken's head swiveled to face the 'intruder'.

"Don't fuss Amoy." Was the nicest she could manage. Talking to him was just something she did, even though she had become aware that he couldn't hear her.

With more agitation she stood and bumped her head against Lestat who backed off a few paces. She couldn't tell exactly where he was, but now she could tell roughly how large he was. She also knew he shouldn't be in these areas of the woods.

"Listen," he mumbled in confusion. "I asked you a question."

"Shut up!" Kraken barked. No one could talk to her like that. Older pup or not. "I don't know who you are, but if you want to keep that pretty little breath of life of yours you better listen and listen good."

'Visitors' were not welcomed here. Mother had explained as much.

Lestat stumbled back another step then moved closer to Amoy's side than Kraken's. The boy was obviously less harmful. "Hey, tell her to back off. I was just asking."

Amoy, his attention now focused solely on his sister's face so that he could read it, nodded his head and settled back onto his haunches. He listened to most of whatever his sister told him, as he felt he could trust her more than anyone else. She seemed to have some sympathy for him sometimes, which was more than he could say for anyone else.

Glancing sideways at the other pup, he blinked. What was this guy doing here? Didn't he know that he could get eaten hanging out in a place like this? Especially with mother around. He didn't think she really liked wolf meat, but she often got so hungry that there was no telling what she would eat. Besides, she'd given him enough looks to convince him sometimes that she'd eat him if the mood struck her.

Feeling his sister tremble beside him, mostly with rage towards the new pup it seemed, the little magenta pup shivered. His sister had the same temper as their mother, and he feared for anyone that got in her way.

Turning his attention back towards his sister, he wiggled his tail then sank to his belly. He made sure that he could still see her lips, however, because he felt that what she had to say was important. Amoy completely missed what Lestat had said, and so he merely remained quiet.

These two were nuts. Completely and utterly nuts. One didn't have ears and the other was obviously blind now that he got a better look at her eyes.

It was almost funny, in a mean way. How in the hell do they communicate? I feel bad for their parents..

But Kraken considered Lestat to be an idiot. And obviously one that was hers. They'd found him after all. Finders keepers.

"You!" She barked. "You don't get to talk, at all! Slave! Slaves don't talk unless their masters say so."

Lestat blinked, utterly taken aback. ..Slave? That didn't sound good..

"But-"

"Shut up!" She lurched at him, cathcing his side at least. Tackling someone when you couldn't see them wasn't always so easy.

Clamping down on his ear with her sharply forming puppy teeth she bit until she could taste blood and hear him yelping above all else.

Amoy continued to lay where he was, watching his sister. He was comfortable when he was with her, since she was the only one who seemed to even care an ounce about him. Everyone else... well, they just didn't seem to love him. Which made him rather sad and caused him to whimper his lonesomes to himself in the middle of the night.

It wasn't fun.

As Kraken lurched forward and began chewing on the other pup's ears, making him bleed, the earless puppy wailed.

"Noooo!" he yelled, squirming to his paws and jumping into the fray. "Don't hurt him, sister!" he whined, attempting to push her off of Lestat. But he was rather small and skinny, keeping him from having any real strength. He'd probably only ever be able to push his sister anywhere if she allowed him to.

"Please!" he cried, the expression on his face making it look like he was about to cry. "He didn't do anything wrong!"
