Yes, it has to do with the full moon, it is determined by the Lunar calendar. It's also known as the Lunar New Year. The Chinese/Lunar New year starts on Feb. 18, 2007. It is the year of the pig/boar. 3nodding Chinese/Lunar New Year2007- Feb. 18- Pig/Boar 2008- Feb. 7- Rat 2009- Jan. 26- Buffalo/Ox 2010- Feb. 14- Tiger 2011- Feb. 3- Rabbit/Hare 2012- Jan. 23- Dragon 2013- Feb. 10- Snake 2014- Jan. 31- Horse
