Time of day: Afternoon Climate and place: In the clearing, Winter, Sunny with some cloud
Spice was enjoying the day so far. The birds where singing and despite the cold of winters usual bringing the day was rather warm and bright. Her green eyes shone as she looked around the clearing. With no one in sight she laid down and proceeded to roll about in the snow.
She hadn’t had a good bath in a while and the snow would surely clean her coat well. When she got up there was an indent to where she had rolled but her coat looked healthier and glistened in the sun. Pawing at the earth below the little snow that covered the ground in her spot of rolling, she proceeded to graze and eat the dead grasses underneath. While she did this she stopped paying attention to her surroundings, felling no threat or danger any where near her.

Deep in thought, the white stallion waded through snow so deep that his deeply colored socks were all but invisible, buried beneath the enfolding whiteness. It was a lovely day, but Kildegard neither seemed to notice or care, entrenched in his own thoughts as he was.
And really, why shouldn't he be contemplative? The changing of the seasons was long past, after all, and winter had become such an established thing that Kilde neither noticed or cared about the frigid temperatures or the ever-present snow; they were just one more aspect of the world to ignore when he had other things on his mind, a relatively common occurance these days.
However, he was not one of those Soqs that, when thinking, was completely oblivious to his surroundings. He simply corrected for such random events as trees in his path, ditches to cross, or other creatures to pass with what could pass for mechanical indifference...as was the case today.
He sensed the multicolored mare more than saw her, sidestepping to keep from colliding with her as he wandered his way across the clearing. Automatically, he accompanied his passing with a "Pardon me, Miss," but otherwise gave no indication he even noticed her. Just another part of the terrain...

The day was warm and spice was injoying it. The sun brightly shinig down on the earth and all it's creatures below, who wouldnt notice it?Spice jerked a little as she looked at the stallion who passed her. He seemed to be in some sort of trance. She watched him for a bit and then gently said,
" Ohh not at all Sir"
She didn’t know what he was doing but was rather curious and just watched him as he continued on his way. Such strange stallions there where around her.

"Glad to hear it." Without so much as lifting his head or batting an eyelash, Kildegard continued in his plodding, a trail in the snow the only really solid evidence of his passing he'd left behind. Just like always. Though he could carry on the basics of a conversation without it disrupting what he was thinking about or doing, an individual would be hard-pressed to get him to remember that fact later. More than likely, the white stallion would simply blink in confusion, then wonder what said individual was talking about...
Just like now. If someone asked his later who he'd been talking too out in the clearing, he would have shrugged and said 'no one', for he couln't remember to save his life...

Spice looked on as he kept moving and she really didn’t want to interrupt. It seemed like he wasn’t even there. Sure his body was moving and he was talking but if you looked into his eyes you could tell the lights where not all on up stairs.
" Nice meeting you I guess"
She yelled after him unsure of weather or not she should try and get to know the blank stallion. Shrugging she went back to grazing and didn’t think another thought of it. Besides if he decided he wanted to talk he would return if he even remembered she was there.

"Likewise." It was difficult to say how Kildegard had acquired the habit of talking without paying attention; all that could be said with certainty was that it went back to his foal days, probably as the result of hearing without listening to his parents when they told him to do something. It had become so common that it was like a second nature to him now, and it took a bit of doing to get him out of what had once been dubbed his 'zombie state'.
Besides, at the moment he had important things on his mind, specifically the question of whether it would be better to wait until he found the teepee to have lunch, or whether he should just stop somewhere and have lunch. Important thoughts, to be sure.

Spice lifted her head and snorted a bit. How can one talk with out being there? She trotted up to him and walked beside him looking at his eyes. Thy were almost blank it appeared... indeed no one was home. She only walked beside for a little bit before stopping.
" you are indeed a strange one and that’s some talent you have there. I’m sure you wont remember any of this or me when you snap out of what ever daze your currently involved in."
She turned around and proceeded to go back to her lunch that she had scrounged for earlier.

"Perhaps." Simple questions, questions that could be answer yes/no/maybe, were always the most conducive to the continuation of Kildegard's inattention; if he ever got directly challenged by a situation that required attention, now THAT was a different story.
But the issue of lunch was indeed a pressing one. He was leaning towards waiting until he found the teepee, though that meant he'd have to figure out where the teepee was, or rather REMEMBER where it was, which could be complicated; maybe he should just eat now? No, that would be a waste of time...but he wouldn't be hungry while searching...hrm.
Difficult thoughts, and important ones; aside of his earlier comment, the white stallion gave no indication at all that he'd so much as heard Spice, let alone seen her. Clueless he indeed was.

Spice looked over her shoulder from eating and simply shook her head.
"stallions"
She said to herself under her breath before she went back to grazing. Never before had she felt so ignored and this just reminded her of one of the reasons she really didn’t like seeing or talking to others. It always seemed she either got ignored or got the wrong kind of attention. She sat there for a bit and found she was extremely bored.
Turning around she could still see the stallion and was a tad curious what he was up to any way. It wasn’t natural for one to be walking around with a vacant expression on their faces for no reason. So she loped up to him and came to a walk as she went beside him.
" What is it your looking for any way? if I may ask.."

Walking along as he was, it took a moment for Kildegard to register the fact that something was not quite right, something had cropped up that couldn't be handled by his usual autopilot. But as usual, clicking over from automatic to manual control wasn't without a bit of disorientation.
Stopping in almost mid-stride, he paused and turned his head to look at the mare, his black eyes gaining clarity and expression that rapidly became confusion. Who was this mare, and when had she turned up? "I'm sorry, what was that?" He was vaguely aware that she had been speaking to him; a feeling more than a conscious knowledge. Now then, what was it?

" well i tried to talk to you before as you almost ran me over in the clearing... But that’s well into the past. I asked what you where looking for."
She smiled a little confused herself but she quickly picked up that he must had been thinking about something needing the utmost attention.. or at least to him it might of. In her pause she realized she forgot to introduce her self and in her embarrassment her face flustered a deeper red in her cheek area.
" Ohh and I’m Spice.. I’m sorry but before i thought it would be rather pointless to introduce myself for you didn’t seem .. all there. Not meaning to be rude but that’s how it seemed..."

What he was looking for? Kildegard stared at Spice, his black eyes somewhat vacant still, but mostly just confused. Though he could be drawn out of his thoughts, he tended to take a bit of time to figure out exactly what was going on around him. At least this time he had someone explaining what was going on.
Confused expression still in place, Kildegard listened patiently as she explained what had just happened, introduced herself, and clarified. Obviously he'd been out of it for quite a bit now, because none of this seemed familiar...exactly.
However, that didn't mean he couldn't react to it. At her introduction, he bobbed his head slightly, acknowledging both the comments and the name at the same time. "Kildegard is my name...and while I have to say I don't really know what you're talking about, I have to say what you're telling me is unfamiliar."
Raising his head, his black eyes met Spice's green ones, the cloudiness dissipating and a clear and rather attentive look of understanding taking it's place. He knew what he tended to do, had been told what he did enough to know that he'd gotten bogged down in his thoughts. How typical.
"No need to worry about rudeness; its unsurprising you'd think that talking to me would have been pointless, and it probably would have. I'm sorry for my behavior, especially if I disturbed you at all...I just have a tendency to 'lose myself' in my own thoughts."

Spice listened attentively and noticed that the light seemed to be coming back into his eyes. She listened and noticed that perhaps he was unaware of his condition and that she should had probably explained it a little better.. He didn’t seem to be aware that he was even awake. As soon as he finished she dipped her head to him.
" It's a please to meet you Kildegard. And it wasn’t really disturbing so much as curious. And at least you think. I must say I have met a few Soquili who don’t even look like they have thought a day in their life to tell you the truth...."
Feeling a little rude at the comment she shifted shyly from left to right again and Looked down at the snow. It lead her looking to his legs and she noticed some of the strange coloration peeking up over the snow.

Shaking his head, Kildegard had the grace to give Spice a rueful smile. He had been in this sort of situation enough to know that she was trying to be polite, even when he'd decidedly been anything but.
"No need to feel awkward on my part, Spice; when I'm in one of my ponderances, it almost takes a crack upside the head to get my attention, as you seem to have noticed." Even if she didn't hit him, the principle was the same. What had he even been thinking about that was so important? She'd asked him, he was pretty sure, and he'd been walking...
Food. That was it, he was thinking about food. Unaware that his feet were of great interest, Kildegard looked up suddenly at Spice, expecting to meet her eyes and meeting her ears instead; well, that worked also. "Say, do you happen to know any good grazing places around here?"

" Actually yah I do. over back in the middle of the clearing there’s a spot that i just foraged in.. there’s plenty of long sweet grasses under the snow in that area"
Spice looked back into the direction of the clearing and then back to him smiling. So that was what was on his mind it would appear. Always something to think about she supposed and she headed back in the direction and looked back to see if he would fallow or not.
