The title is pretty self-explanatory - name your favorite gothic rock or gothic metal albums, as well as your favorite songs off of that album... though I don't listen to gothic metal, my favorite rock albums have to be: *Crackle - [the best of] Bauhaus (Favorite songs: Bela Lugosi's Dead, Hollow Hills, Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie cover) *Disintegration - The Cure (Last Dance, Prayers For Rain, Love Song)
EDIT: After a recent purchase, I have to add: *Unknown Pleasures - Joy Division (New Dawn Fades, Wilderness, Shadowplay)

darkest_hour91 children of bodom - the living dead beat or kittie a real goth band. Children of Bodom is admittedly a good band... but they are melodic death metal, not goth metal Kittie is alternative metal, though they might have a few gothic metal albums... I don't know their music (just like how The Cure has a few gothic rock albums - like Disintegration - but they are generally alternative rock) In any case, out of those albums, what were your favorite songs?

Dead Ed GilAskan "Deep" - Peter Murphy "Subway" - Peter Murphy Huh, I never knew he went solo. smile Yeah, he's released more solo albums than he released albums with Bauhaus. In the last 21 years (his first solo album came out in '86), he's released 8 albums. "Deep" is widely considered his best album. "Subway" is a single from his album "Cascade", and is my favorite individual song of his.

The Cure and Nightwish are the only real "Goth" Metal/Rock bands I like, unless you count Evanescence, which most don't. Actually, Lacuna Coil too.
Everything else is either Grunge, Emo, Punk, or another form of Metal.

Is there any significant change in the sound from Bauhaus to his solo career?

Although a lot of the albums still feature post-punk and goth-rock, he also experiments with some adult-alternative and pop.
