It's a contest held in Begium. Every 4 years it is for violin. It is the most demanding contest in the whole world. It is always broadcast on the tv. Some of you should know it ^_^

Ahh! Belgium! Yeah, that would explain why I have not heard of that competition.
I live in the US, a country that is very...you could say sheltered from the happenings in other countries. Our news has stories on the "pervert of the day" or "look at all of the stupid thing this political figurehead did this week!!!" You have to tune in to BBC to understand what's going on in the world (and you can only tune into BBC news channel if you have digital cable or satelite.)
When it comes to classical music you have to go online or read from STRINGS magazine to get any information on that. I guess we're not supposed to care about other countries or something.
One boy in my math class (the top math class you can be in for my grade level, I might add) thought that Madagascar was an island near Italy. He was very confused when he heard about the movie about the zoo animals and asked, "What does Madagascar have to do with Africa?"
Perhaps that's why some people wear T-shirts that say "I love my country, but I think we should start seeing other people."

I want that T-shirt.
Anyway, I also live in the US, and Belgium is... not very well advertised, as Tarienquest said. I need to look into that contest; it looks like something to look out for. I'll ask my teacher about it; he's Bulgarian, just moved to the US a few years ago, so he might know a little bit about it. 3nodding

Not in this guild. In Belgium. Real people play in person.
...but that gets me thinking. Perhaps we should have a contest here. Any ideas for the subject?

Belgium and Bulgaria both start with a "B" and therefore they are the same. There 'ya go. (I'm kidding. If you don't know that you're stupid.) Anyway, any ideas for a contest in this guild?

It's for violinist of the whole world. I mean, the USA is part of the world, is it not?

Emmylientje There was also an American in the final. It's for violinist of the whole world. I mean, the USA is part of the world, is it not? Unfortunately it is. For everyone else, I mean. We just don't hear every detail about the music world here. You have to search for information about anything. It doesn't just come to you. Unfortunately, if you don't know precisely what you're looking for... It took me nearly 10 minutes to find the website for the nearest animal shelter.

Heh... yeah, I guess that sounded pretty ignorant... "Something's happening in Belgium, so I'll go ask my Bulgarian teacher about it," but that's not what I meant. I just meant that most of the world is better informed than the US, like TarienQuest said. 3nodding
