Despite the protesting squirms and wriggles of the fair-haired child, Guinevere continued to hold Aya close as she navigated her way through the holiday season crowds in the overly-decorated department store. The naga was far from comfortable, dodging this way and that, cursing under her breath as her tail was trodden on by another inconsiderate shopper. Having ventured out for the sole purpose of finding clothing, toys and other infant supplies for her daughter, the naga found herself debating whether it would be easier and less stressful to allow Aya to run around naked instead and emerge to search for provisions once the holidays were over.

As a break opened up in the crowd Guinevere was quick to make a b-line forward, even more thankful for the reprieve when the rough path deposited her in front children’s clothing store. Finally, the frazzled woman sighed inwardly, slithering toward a rack containing brightly coloured sets of snow appropriate attire. “What do you think little one?” Guinevere spoke tenderly, a faint smile gracing her lips as Aya reached out to pull several of the garments toward her. Babbling happily, and now distracted from her earlier attempts to escape, Aya grinned at her mother and emitted a high-pitched sound akin to a squeal and a giggle that indicated her approval.

Ok... I can offically say. I. Hate. Humanity. Period. End of conversation. That was about the only thought Isdra had had since she had walked into this hell hole called a mall and for some unknown reason the only thought she continued to have. It didn't help that Arowana didn't have any legs. That in her mind was worse then having a screaming kid. At least with a screaming kid you could put them on you hip and not hurt your arm. But 'ya know, mer-people had to be challanging.

Glancing around her, not that she saw anything other people's body parts, she tired to get her bounds of where she was. Catching a quick glimpse of a bench, she pushed through the crowd and quickly jumped on it, looking above most of the peoples head. "AH-HA!" Isdra shouted as she saw the store and jumped down and pushed through the crowd to get into it. "My freaking god people," she muttered as she pushed on last person out of the way, finally getting into the story. "Is it really that hard to walk?! I mean I can do a back bend with out caring, they should be able to learn to walk."

Dusting herself out, she turned and set Arowana in one of the cribs the had at the store. "Sorry Ara. I know you don't like crowd in all, but you and Grey need clothes. And you know how I dislike even associating with your dearest twin." She smiled and gave the small child a quick pat on the head as she rearranged all her clothing.

“Aya, no, they aren’t for eating” Guinevere said with a light laugh, prying several items of clothing from her daughter’s mouth. Aya merely grinned at her mother, seeming more then a little proud at turning crisp red material into a soggy mass. Shaking her head in good humour, the naga laid the garments over her arm and turned back toward the stores entrance – searching for a basket to hold her purchases. Locating the dark blue plastic containers and depositing the damp clothing within, Guinevere paused to case the rest of the shop in hopes of discerning a general direction of travel. Failing to spot the other scroll child and the mer-infant amid the hustle the naga continued to scout the room; a frown gracing her features as she was left deciding where to start. In truth she knew little about the types of things that Aya would need, although she was going to her best to debate, reason and rationalise as she shopped.

Having little concern about the busyness, Aya occupied herself with taking in the different sights, sounds and smells of the store – finding it exceptionally different from the sub-terrain, earthen abode in which she lived. All the people seemed so strange to her, not possessing the same tail and pale skin of her caregiver; but the child’s eyes lit up and her happy expression brightened as an unusual girl and her equally unique companion caught her eyes. Reaching toward the pair, squealing and babbling in excitement, the spirited child waited for somebody to notice – whether it be her mother, who she hoped would move closer, or the teenager and the toddler with her.

'Ugh!' A loud grunt she had believed she'd only thought escaped her lips as she gave up on her skirt. It had been a futile to get her skirt back to a presentable appearance, but after the mad dash through the mall, the baby food that had gotten on it in her attempted to control Arowana's carseat, and the fact she had actually sat in it, the skirt refused to go back to it's original cute state. Her clothing was never meant for wear and tear, just appearance. The very thing her child siblings seemed to be brought to this earth to do. Weather it via spit-up, a food-fight, or Greyling's obnoxious obssesstion with markers, they some how managed to wreak them more everyday.

And, to join the ranks of her obnoxious sibling, Arowana, had to cry. And cry... And cry. The poor child had looked up. Not a good thing since her eyes were the most light sensitive things her teenage sister had ever seen. "Arowana! Come on baby girl, stop crying! Don't worry, you'll be fine!" In a frantice search, Isdra began patting herself down as quickly as she could. It was a less then dignifying show for the teen, but she felt horrible for her sister, not to meantion slightly embrassed. "Ah crap..." Realizing she had forgotten the mer-baby's sunglasses, she picked up Arowana and covered her eyes with her hand in an effort to calm her down. Though, it only serve to scare her and provoked a louder cry.

The shrill crying wasn’t something that would have remained unnoticed and unacknowledged by those within the immediate vicinity, and Guinevere was no exception to the unspoken rule. Frowning turning at the waist toward the sound, the naga was quick to analyse the situation and moved, as quickly as the crowd would allow, to a stand containing all manner of brightly coloured and decorated sunglasses. Seizing a random pair, which would prove to be of aquamarine colouring when the naga bothered to examine them, Guinevere slipped awkwardly back through mass of people and offered the sunglasses to Isdra with a faint, knowing smile. The snake-woman had her own issues with eyesight, namely that hers was worse then poor, although she had learned to compensate through the use of vibrations through the ground. “Maybe thissss will help?” Guinevere suggested, still holding the glasses within pallid fingers.

Having achieved her objective, Aya laughed and giggled to herself; reaching toward the tailed toddler with a mix of eagerness and concern for her tears. She found the other child fascinating, comforted by the semi-familiarity with her lower limbs yet intrigued by their uniqueness. Struggling and wriggling her legs until her mother shifted her, allowing her lower extremities the freedom they wanted, Aya kicked her legs and waited for the other child to do the same – wondering how her ‘legs’ worked.

((I'm so sorry that took so long Inu - real life decided it wanted to kick my arse >.<))

Shifting around quickly and grabbing them, Isdra nodded but only briefly noted the person offering them. Her main concern was the skreeching child in front of her. After taking a minute to make sure she didn't stab the toddler in the eye, Isdra placed the sunglasses on the girl. Arowana's fit didn't quit for another thirty seconds, only because the tailed child hadn't opened her eyes until then, but once she had her screams quickly stopped and the mermaid was reduced to sniffles and sobs. "Shh... It's ok, babe. It's ok." When Isdra was confident in the girl's silence, she turned bowing her head to the woman infront of her before even looking. "Thank you VERY much.... How did you know?"

Arowana blinked through the aqua tinted lenses and then smiled at the blond smiling toddler in front of her. Flapping her lower half around, she managed to hit the girl briefly with the tip of her fin, pleasing herself in her fins' reach. "Gah." She announced in a form of introduction between the two toddlers, hoping... Well, she forgot what she was hoping when she noticed the girl's gaurdian's area below her rump. Within instances, she was reaching, 'goo'ing, and all together trying to find a way to reach the smooth tail-like extremities of the women. They were like her own... Kind of.

(MANY APOLOGIZES!! crying Sorry. I really need the hiatus then, but I hope we can still continued this! Sorrys!~)

Offering Isdra a faint smile, one that expressed her relief that Arowana’s cries had ceased as well as her acceptance of the teenagers thanks, Guinevere answered – “I have my own vissssion issssuesssss, although they fall on the oppossssite end of the sssspectrum. That knowledge, coupled with the warmth, and assssumed brightnessss of the lightssss, made it a logical conclussssion”.

“You’re welcome” the naga added as an afterthought, inclining her head in a similar fashion as the scroll teenager. Lifting her crimson orbs, all the more vibrant due to the pale features in which they were set, the woman adjusted the toddler in her arms before proceeding to make formal introductions. “I’m Guinevere, and this is my daughter Aya. It is a pleasure to meet you...”. The sentence trailed off, waiting for the teenager to insert her name and that of her young companion.

Aya giggled delightedly as the fin’ brushed against her feet; their clean coolness momentarily startling to the girl. “Gahhhhh!” the blonde child echoed enthusiastically, grinning obliviously in the face of Arowana’s distraction.

Turning her attention to the toddler, Guinevere couldn’t hide the smile in the face of the mer-child’s eagerness and excitement. Shifting her weight forward to balance herself, the naga lifted the lower extremities of her tail to within the toddlers reach. “Not as impressssive as yourssss little one” Guinevere commented lightly.

Once the older woman mentioned her one vision problems, Isdra understood how she had made the conclusion she did. "Ah, I see now," glancing up at the woman finally, she blinked for a moment, but quickly got past the fact her wasn't full human. The teen grew up around non-human beings, so it never really occured to her to think of them differently than herself. "Thanks again... I'm Isdra and this is my baby sister, Arowana".

The toddler was instantly distracted by the Guinevere's lower half. Reaching and grabbing it, completely distracted from the other child by the cold, scale-y traits of the woman's tail. "Gah..."

Preparing herself for the wave of shock, generally followed by revulsion, that accompanied her presence, Guinevere couldn’t mask her surprise when Isdra instead returned a polite and pleasant introduction. “It issss a pleassssure to meet you Issssdra and Arowana” the naga replied, inclining her head in greeting, “although it issss a sssshame it hassss to be under ssssuch trying conditionssss”. At her statement Guinevere glanced around the store with a look of disdain, taking in the multitude of shoppers that dithered to and fro.

Not deterred by being over-looked, Aya instead turned her attention to Isdra, offering the girl a wide grin. The teenager was bright, and Aya certainly enjoyed bright; small hands reaching for the vivid strands of pink hair the rested atop Isdra’s head.

Wriggling the tip of her tail, now contained with Arowana’s grip, Guinevere continued to smile softly at the child. “Don’t ssssee tailssss like ourssss very often” the naga hissed, offering her tail another wriggle.

A smile spread across her face when the older woman did treat her like a child. Adults treated her like a 11 year old all the time and when that happens, well, it becomes an expectation. "A pleasure to meet you, also. It's great to meet such an open adult." The teen's grin widened, but quickly turned to a frown acompanied by a nod. "Agreed. It agravates me to be around so many people, but the this tot and her brother needed clothing and none of my old ones really works with um... tails."

Looking down, Isdra smalled and gave the child one of her braids to hold, "Like bright colors, do 'ya? Well, my head is bright, that's for sure." The teen grinned and chuckled at the toddler.

Arowana smiled and clapped at the wiggling tail infront of her. As if to answer the woman's wiggle, she slapped her tail against the changing table she was sitting on.
