The night was just overcoming the sky as Yubikiri set foot onto the grass, bare-footed and wild-eyed. The sun still setting over the trees, it was still dark enough for the cat to be comfortable. He had become rather nocturnal as of late, but this didn't seem to bother the cat, as few things did. He crouched down before situating himself into a cross-legged manner, sitting between the trees and staring up at the colorful scenery. "Not going to see you much longer~" he sang lightly, tilting his head almost unnoticably. The sky always intrigued him as the colors swirled across its surface, but it was always better when the lights faded and everything slept for the night but for those few. The perfect time of day.

The unicorn chuckled as him and the winged fox left Kuro's cabin. He looked behind him to see the fox and noticed him feeling uneasy about leaving. Ever since the fox lived there, far longer than Ran had, he had never left the cabin without Kuro. "It's okay, Kaoru. I won't let anything happen to you. We are just going to the forest near here, nothing to worry about." He smiled gently at the fox, turning around and heading for the forest in front of them. He took a deep breath, the air here was so nice and refreshing. He turned to look at the sky and smiled, Ahh... just my time of the day to come out...
The fox had his ears lowered as he left the cabin behind him. No Kuro this time... out here? With this vampire... what irony. He was unsure about this situation Kuro put him in, he could understand why she would do this to him, but so sudden. Maybe she was having a bad day? And who knows, maybe it isn't such a bad idea. But right now, he didn't like it. Soon he would blend into the background, it was getting dark and he was the color of the sky.

Yubikiri's ears twitched to the wind as the two neared the forest's edge, and as he caught their scent a smirk unfurled across his face. He didn't usually like company, but he was in an unusually curious mood. Tail twitching playfully, Yu's grin widened as their footsteps grew closer, but he refused to budge until the sound grew little more than a hundred yards away. With a crack of a branch, Yubikiri lept high into the tree above him, careful to actually shake the branch as he went. Luring was so much fun, but playing was moreso.
As he crouched on the branch, covered in the canopy's shadows but for a few glints of light, Yubikiri found himself at his strongest during the nighttime hours. With a flick of his fingers, a small amount of movement emerged from the shadows below his perch, appearing as almost a transparent mound of charcoal dust. "Time to have fun, boys~" he sang excitedly to the shadows before motioning violently to the area he had heard them approaching from, the shadows following suit to his direction.

The unicorn stopped abruptly in his footsteps, causing the fox behind him to run into him. He didn't notice right away that he had fallen. His big ears twitched as he noticed the change in the winds, someone was here. "Kaoru... we are not alone..." He glared in the direction he felt the presence. "Stay close to me.." He voiced in a whisper, slowly heading for a nearby tree.
Kaoru just blinked at the one in front of him. He didn't have much time to talk and ask what this was all about, but he figured it wasn't the right time. Ran was being quiet afterall. He quickly picked himself up off the ground and followed him behind the tree.
Ran then turned to Kaoru, smiling even though it wasn't the time. He was trying to reassure the fox, and let him know everything was under his control, until he spoke. "I don't know what is going to happen, but I don't believe it good. Stay here at all times, okay? And if things get bad I want you to go back to Kuro's. You remember how to get back, right? So stay hidden here, and when the time is right, go." He didn't turn his head back around until he saw the fox nod, his eyes widened from fright.

Yubikiri giggled excitedly at the newcomers' reaction to his presence, seeing the whole thing as one big game of tag. "I'm gonna get youuu~!" he called playfully, more to himself than anyone else. This was more fun than he had had in a long while, not since he was told that "playing with others" was a bad thing. He couldn't help himself this time, though; he was just too curious.
The shadow slid through the landscape like water, as fast as any field mouse but much more menacing. It ceased behind the unicorn and fox, covered by the quickly fading light but visible when it rose. It's features weren't immediately apparent, but as it shaped itself it began looking more and more like a blobby, five-foot silhouette of a person, identifying features undiscernable. A wide grin appeared on the ball that was its head, much wider than what would be possible for a normal anthro or human, as it spoke, a voice as if speaking through a wall of water as the vibrations ricocheted the voice. What came from the shadow's mouth was Yubikiri's voice, speaking, "You do know that children are not to be wandering about, yes? But we're so glad you diiid~!" The voice sounded too sugary to be up to any good, and this became apparent as more of the shadow's brethren arrived, coming up from the floor. "We're going to have so much fun!" they giggled in unison, blocking the two anthros' way out of the forest.

Ran snorted as he saw the shadows appearing around them. This was nothing at all, he could beat this battle no problem if this was all that was coming for them. But his face twisted as the shadows started giggling. He slightly covered his ears, "God, stop with that annoying mirth..."
Kaoru squeaked as he saw the two were surrounded by this shadow magic. The fox could sense that he wouldn't be very helpful in this battle. And the urge to bolt it to Kuro's cabin was immense, but they were surrounded and it wasn't the right time to move. He just clung to the unicorn's shirt, his ears flat against his head.
The unicorn noticed the foxes behavior to this situation and turned his head slightly to him, talking in a low and soothing voice. "It's okay. I told you this was nothing I couldn't handle. These are low level dopplegangers." He turned his head back around to the shadows in front of him, smirking evilly. So unlike him a second ago. "You will have to do a lot more than this to stop me..." He said loud enough so the cat could hear. He held out his right hand and almost immediately white soft smoke started to grow in front of his hand and around his forearm. When the smoke was big enough, it lunged out at the shadow in front of him. When it was done engulfing that one it then weaved around with elegance and speed to the next, until they were all gone. The smirk on Ran's face never ceased and he never broke sweat.
(( I would have Ran's stats down, but I haven't gotten to him yet. I'll post them up later when I have them. =3 ))

Yubukiri's head tilted at the calmness in Ran's movements, his voice unable to be heard from such a distance. His curiosity, like it always does in this state of mind, got the better of him in the end and he found himself slinking silently through the labyrinth of branches to their position. In the tree above their heads but opposite the trunk, he arrived just in time to see Ran in action. His tail dangled from the branch he perched himself on as he watched with interest, mischeviousness twinkling in his bright blue eyes. That steam... now that is what he called magic!
"Impressive..." he murmured from the trees as the unicorn took care of all the shadow puppets Yu had conjured. "But can you handle... this!?" he emphasized as he rose his hands swiftly, molding the shadows into stone-hard blades, rising from the ground. The blades moved quickly, giving little time to move even if one was prepared for it, and trapped the two of them in a cage of shadow and stone. However, as he lifted his hands to create the trap, he lost his balance and fell to the ground before he knew what was happening. "Ooooow! Ow ow ow ow..." he grumbed as he held his blonde head in his hands, his pointed hat at his side, cringing into a ball.

Ran was a little alarmed with the shadow, like fingers rising from the ground beneath, but stood still. "Hm.." He mumbled as the little cat fell from the tree. Despite the darkness that slowly covered the sky, he could see the anthro now squirming on the ground. "Little kids shouldn't be out this late at night. Why don't you go home... you should be in bed." Ran's eyes seemed to glow with anger. This battle was becoming ridiculous and he was sick of this already.
Kaoru could sense the annoyance the unicorn was projecting. It was unnerving, and made the fox want to curl up in his room. He let go of Ran's shirt and stepped back only twice. His ears were as though they had been glued to his head, and his tail against the backs of his legs. When was this going to be over? Kuro was wrong, it wasn't a good idea for him to be out here without Kuro. She could get him out of here with ease.
Ran's hand came to his face, only inches away from touching. After only a second light began materializing out of the air. Only this time it was a different type of light. Instead of being soft, it was pointed and fierce, writhing around his hand like an angry snake. When it came down to his elbow he hastily extended his arm toward the stone in front of himself. The walls immediately crumbled before him, creating a way out. He slightly glared at the anthro on the ground before him, as he walked out of the cage. "Now if you are done with this silly game, we would like to go."
Kaoru watched the unicorn closely as he used magic, once again, to get past the obsticle before him. He did it with so much calmness that is was almost amazing. But right now the fox was too demoralized to 'praise' this anthro. Then he followed Ran out of the cage slowly.

Yubikiri found himself cradling his injured head, feeling quite embarrassed the first actual hit of the game was done to himself by himself. Cracking an eye open to catch a glimpse of his captives, he watched with awe as the unicorn cast his light magic to escape the dark claws. He blinked a few times as he held his torso up with his arms, waving his tail happily. He didn't realize the harsh words the anthro was giving him until he stopped to think about it. He laughed, "I'm not a child! But you... you're amazing! This just proves how rusty I am." His wide eyes gazed at the two of them indicated respect and curiosity, and he smiled.
His ears twitched to the last part of Ran's comment, and Yu found his head tilting. "Where are you going? You can't leave! That's no fun!" he pouted, rising to his feet again. He was rather tall, a feature that made his attitude seem to hide.

Ran silently glared down at the cat, annoyance written all over his face. He didn’t know exactly what caused his attitude to be such like this. Rarely does Ran get annoyed. He shrugged it off his mind and figured it was just that he didn’t feel like fighting tonight, especially because of Kaoru accompanying him. Ran noticed the respect the cat had for him, but this wasn’t enough to forgive this anthro for terrifying Kaoru. He will not get by this easily. “I don’t care how excided you are about my magic ability,” He began in a harsh tone, “But I don’t think tonight is the right time to just randomly start a fight. I do not appreciate that.” He glared once more.
The fox anthro just stood behind the unicorn in front of him. He wasn’t sure what to do at this point as they conversed. Kaoru’s spirit lifted slightly as he noticed they might retreat home soon. Oh, how the fox wanted that so badly. He softly grabbed the unicorn’s shirt sleeve, looking at the cat in front of them.
The unicorn looked at the fox from the corner of his eyes as he felt his hand. “We are going home.” He said, with a slightly less harsh tone this time, as he turned his back to the cat before them.

"Fighting? Oh no, no! I was playing!" he said with a chirp, sticking his tongue out playfully. His tail swayed from side-to-side as he continued, "If I wanted to fight, I would have hurt you with those blades! No, I just wanted to have some fun! What? You didn't?" He looked to the ground, realizing that the unicorn and fox felt threatened by the attack. "I'm not here to hurt you, honest! I have no grudge!" he tried, but he felt discouraged to find it was too little too late as Ran turned his back to him. He didn't know what to do; he didn't mind being alone, but it was always better to be able to play with someone when he felt up to it. Otherwise, his dark thoughts might come creeping back into his head and he might really hurt someone. "Could you... could you teach me some of your techniques? You were really good," he tried, stepping forward a bit. He couldn't just let them leave!

He was taken aback with the cat’s request and stopped stiff in his steps. Teach? This anthro wanted him to teach him? The unicorn never taught anymore before… how would he know if he was any good at it. Ran turned his head around slowly, a confused look on his face. “You want me to teach you my techniques..?” He repeated, still uneasy about the situation. “I don’t know if I am any good with that… But I guess I could.” He said slowly, thinking to himself. But can I even trust this cat? He was ‘playing’ with us… what an odd way to ‘play’ with a stranger...
Kaoru’s face twisted. He wanted to tell the unicorn not to trust this cat, he didn’t. But to teach him? Who knows what the cat would do after he knew of Ran’s techniques. The fox tugged on Ran’s sleeve. “How do you know he wouldn’t turn on you, like he did just now, when you teach him…?” He spoke softly to the unicorn.
Ran looked at the fox as he spoke. He had a point, the unicorn would have to think this over.

Yubikiri grinned sheepishly; he didn't want everything to end so quickly with the two of them going home in a huff. He didn't want them to get upset, he just wanted to play! He couldn't seem to understand why people got upset when he played, and in this frame off mind he was but a juvenile, however was being more grown-up by apologizing. The layers of personality in his mind were so abstract that the cat was hard to understand, even to himself, sometimes, but he didn't know how to make up for it if he had no idea why they were so upset. "I'd be happy if you could..." he replied, waving his tail slightly, "You don't have to leave..."

Ran noticed the depression the cat held around himself, and as he noticed the anger ceased. He didn’t like to get into many arguments, and tonight didn’t seem like the right time for enemies either. The unicorn let out a soft sigh, “All right…” He began looking to the cat once more. “I will… but I can’t guarantee I will be a good teacher… No one really wanted me to teach them before.” He lightly scratched the back of his head in nervousness.
Kaoru couldn’t believe his ears. Ran was going to teach this cat, despite what he just did. The unicorn was angry just a few seconds ago, and now he has a student? What? Kaoru nervously glared at the cat, but fear was also very visible in his features. No matter what, he was still scared of this one...

Yubikiri tried to hold in a screech of excitement as Ran reluctantly allowed the cat to be his student. He spun around a couple times before wrapping his arms around Ran and jumping up and down. "Thankyouthankyouthankyou!" he said happily, releasing the unicorn from his grip once he regained his composure. He coughed lightly into a balled fist nervously before turning his eyes back to Kaoru, catching his glare. He blinked, unsure of what the matter was with the fox. "What's the matter?" he asked, unsure of what to make of him. He didn't seem to notice Kaoru's silent composure and shyness in the least bit, unable to relate to it.
