((for the continuation of previous RP: Ransom, Steele, Mimic))
It was like the darkness drew up around him, and suddenly there was someone there. A cold violence radiated from it, along with a tinge of excitement that spoke clearly of a killer. Clouds rolled in, dotting the light of the moon. A dagger flew, ricochetting off of the pipes and objects of the ally, before coming to rest next to Ransom's head, imbeded to the hilt. The echo barely fading. Instinct kicked in first, and he was suddenly water- just gone, the daggers stored away on his person and dissolvng with the rest of his gear. He was very hard to pinpoint for several minutes, the rush of water magic screaming like a ghost through the streets, before he settled again and reformed. His eyes were locked on the darkness, searching...trying to identify it.
No sound met his ears, only the echo of another volley of throwing knives, this time not aimed to miss. "RANSOM! RUN!" Came Steele's voice as she came flying around the corner, snatching a dagger from the air and throwing it back at the darkness. Just because I wanted her to bring her games did not mean I wanted her to try and kill my son!
"We don't run from shadows," was the vicious reply, and it was unclear as to whether he meant Whitestars...or him and Nico. The knives passed directly through him, and he ignored them completely- darting forward in a formless cloud to find this attacker. Up close and personal. His real target was the industrial array of switches on the far wall- and full lighting for the area.
"They're already dismantled, pet." Echoed a cold, feminine voice through the ally. "I'm no fool to not know my surroundings." Oh she was pleased, this was a game she was really going to enjoy.
"That doesn't mean I can't use them." Unlike his mama, Ransom WAS water- and that was a source of electricity. Maybe. If not, he still had more information about this woman than he'd started out with. Something in her emotionlessness was comforting...a control he didn't possess.
"Let's see what you are made of Ransom Coldwave-Newark Whitestar." The the woman was suddenly behind him. Cloaked in complete darkness, except for the violet eyes that tested him.
"We don't use all that bullshit," he growled back, dropping down in front of her, solid, with his blades back in his hands and en guarde. There was no caution, only pure movement, and he lashed out like a snake without hesitation.
Fluid motions, she dodged with trained ease of an assassin, following the movements that she coined as Steele's influence. The edge of the blades shined in the night light as her style shifted and changed from one form to another - all poised to maim or kill.

Ransom hadn't actually TOLD Steele about the gun he'd gotten from Ogre. He hadn't told anyone except Aoshi, who had covered for him while he practiced with the thing on Brit's little gun range. It was, therefore, unusual for him to pull it from hiding and fire it. He didn't rely on that, however, moving quickly once the bullet was gone- putting the gun away, dagger back in his hands.
"What do you want?" He growled, breathing becoming a bit labored as he fought to evade her knives. He could see the poison on those blades, and it made him VERY nervous.

One flick of the wrist and the bullet hit a pipe sending water spraying into the street. "Don't even try using your petty mechanical weapons when tricks of tha hands are so much faster. I'm after you, precious. Or didn't you gather that?" The cloaked woman moved in closer, attempting to close the gap between Ransom and herself.
"That's enough!" The water from the street gathered around the attacker - forming upward and freezing to create a clear wall between them and her. Steele's eyes were black in the dim light of the city street, her hair floating about her like an underwater halo. "Mimic, I have not hired you as of yet. I suggest you leave off trying to kill my son, as the result would be most unfortunate for all of us." She stepped forward to stand next to Ransom. "Ransom, I will never forbid you to use a weapon when necessary, but you know my feelings on guns." Steele would not tell Brit about the weapon, and up to now he had kept it hidden from her view - that was good enough to pass by her standards.

"I'd not have used it if Aoshi hadn't beaten me into using it right," he shot back, but he stepped back to stand iwth his mother and keep a careful eye on the other owman. "Ogre gave it to me, it's not like I just stole it for kicks."
His eyes narrowed, and he glanced back and forth between the two women. So much water magic so close- Gods, but Steele was strong!- made his eyes flicker blue. "Same accent. Same opinion on anything mechanical/technological, and she knew my full name. Are you two related?"
Damn, he had family EVERYWHERE. >.<

Behind the wall of ice the assassin's weaponry disappeared from view. One hand reached up and pushed the hood of the cloak back, revealing a young woman with raven black hair and violet eyes. "Please, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Darkeeda Godsborne, but most know me as Mimic - I'm your Aunt of sorts," she said inclining her head slightly to Ransom. No malice hung in her voice, no emotion other than the faint trace of delight.
Steele noted the weapons being disregareded and allowed the water to return to it's previous state. With a glance all the substence returned to the broken pipe, sealed by ice. She turned back to her son. "I had requested her to come and see what she thought of you. Though I hadn't thought that she'd try to kill you."

"It's how YOU would have tested me," the boy pointed out, and shrugged as he turned back to Mimic, striving to remember his manners. He didn't use them often on adults- they had to earn his respect, but he figured Mimic had come close enough on first impression.
"Nice to meet you," he said politely, putting his knives away and nodding. His glasses slid down his nose, and he made a face as he pushed them back up. "So you're an assassin? Have to be, with that sneakiness. Thief would've just tried to disable or disarm."

Steele sighed and shook her head. "Yes, but I would have not been purposefully been trying to kill you. You are my son." Her attention turned back to her cousin.
Mimic nodded, a smile pulling at her lips. "That I am." She stepped over to the pair of them, eyeing Ransom. "Your mother trained you well - anyone without those practiced reflexes would have been dead. I hope this first impression leaves no ill will between us."

"I'll give you a chance to work it off," Ran replied with a wicked smile. "And I wasn't so good, really. If I couldn't turn into water I'd have been too slow. Mama says I rely on it too much...but it's not magic, exactly, so no one's ever been able to keep me from doing it. I say, use it as you'd use any weapon. It's kept me out of trouble a few times."

"That's a good way to think, but be careful - someday someone may come along that can keep you from doing it, and then you will be in quite the bind." She said eyes narrowing a tick. "You have potential, Ransom. I will consider your apprenticeship should you so choose to learn my art."
