Hey there...I'm just making this topic because I was curious as to why people decided to join the Gay-Straight Allience. Nobody has to post here if they don't want to, or if they think that their reasons are plainly obvious! It's just another topic for the curious.

I myself joined because my father and sister won't let me join the allience at school and I'm too much of a goody-good to disobey them. Also when I was in middle school I had a guy friend who was funny, energetic, and all around friendly. At the time I guess I was very naive because I was the only one in the entire school who did not realize that he was gay. I would sit by him at lunch and would have to be watchful because every day he was guarenteed to be pelted by atleast one serving of chili cheese fries. I didn't know then about hate crimes and prejudice, but I do now and am determined to stop it!

I joined because I am a firm believer in the rights of GLBTPQ people, and because I believe that a lot of people of that sexual persuasion have been really beat up by straight, homophobic people. I want to show that not only am I not against them, I really enjoy their company. Most of my friends are GLBT, and I have nothing against that. And I'm glad this is a support guild, because we need more of this kind of support for people.

I joined because I was questioning my sexuality and I wanted to be in a place where people would most deffinitely accept me.

This place... I joined while it was still a thread and was invited into the official guild once it opened. I was questionning at the time, and so many people I know are LBGTQPA. Just a few nights ago, my dad and my bestfriend got the s**t kicked out of him in Flemming Park by a group of Teenage Skinheads because he is in the sense "Stereotypicaly gay".
It made me smile that my friend decided to come out to me about being transgender(ed?) after such a long time of me being out to everyone. One of my other friends said if she saw her as a guy in twenty or so years that she'd drop dead. *Growls.*
Conn said he'd ask her on a date, and secretly, so would I. ninja 3nodding blaugh

One of the things I love about Gaia is that homphobics are a minority.
Anyway, I joined because I believe in the cause. Gay rights and all that good stuff.
And, I also joined because I'm still kind of questioning things, and I like having people here to talk to. I like reading everyone's stories, and I find it all very inspirational.

When I first started to really get into 'learning' about what gay was and so forth, it just seemed natural. My enty life I was brought up not to hate anyone just because they were different, ect. And that I was to like everyone unless I had a reason to dislike them. And it was no different with sexuality. (Though I know my family is against homosexuality, ect.) I don't know. I could be weird, but to me it just didn't seem right to hate someone just because they didn't like the same thing everyone else did. Yad yad yad. I'm not going to bore you with the rest. Also, I'm trying to find out my sexuality, and I'm a ally of GLBT kids.

I joined because i wanted a place to belong. Where i could be as flamboyent as i wanted without worrying about what others will say/do. I feel like i can be as open as i want here, and that i can depend on others here as well.
