Van D'ien

Van D'ien is named for a old time gypsy tradition, where one is named from both the parents. Van however, get his name from Ki's parents who just happened to be named Van and D'ien.

Stage: Mole
Item: Spectacles
Disposition: Shy, bookwork (ha. mole bookworm)
Gender: Male
Eyes: Gold... he's very near sighted.

Generally Van D'ien reads all the time... or at least Ki fancies that he does. He prefers to stay in the calm coolness of the wagon, away from the light and noises of an everyday society.

He does not like being addressed by part of his name, and he doesn't like it when Ki bothers him and makes him go against his better judgement.

Ki Kelson

Ki is the portly adult, red haired, gypsy girl with little or no manners and a very unorthosox gypsy attitude. She has a tendancy to be a little strange.

Species: Human
Disposition: outgoing and mannerless
Gender: Female
Eyes: Green
Hair: Red and loooooong, kept in five braids.

Ki is ver brazen and always says what she thinks. Her honesty has been both a positive and a negative factor in her world, and even her friends sometimes don't know what to think of her. He favorite hobbies are fishing and driving her silly wagon

Her wagon is a strange one. It is named Rusting Canvas, however there really isn't a canvas. After a brief encounter with a mountain lion the original wagon rolled down a hill and into a valley. Not only was the wagon destroyed, but all of Ki's personal belongings were lost or destroyed... now her wagon has a sturdy wooden top, complete with sleeping platform, cubby holes, and shelves few new personal belongings, including mole children.

The wagon is pulled by two very sturdy horses, both male and both gelded to keep them calm. Their names are Sigurd and Sigmund, born as a pair, they've been together their whole lives, and have been with Ki since they were very small. They have a tendancy to bee skittish around newcommers, but welcome a loving hand and pat on the back.

Of all the things that you can do to upset Ki, calling her a liar is the worst. Just short of that is the rudness of other people and the anti social behavior of Van D'ien

Quests...

This in the quests shelf... here I keep the images, items, and information for all of Van D'ien's quests...

FIRST QUEST>>> Spectacles into a mole

Valelldia

As smoke billows up to the ceiling of the wagon, Valelldia cuts her deck thrice, looking directly at Keppit as she does so. She places three cards onto the table- one from the top of each of the separated heaves, and peers at them for a few moments.

She looks up at Keppit again, waving her hands over the cards.

"The spread indicates that your animal is a timid one, and one that needs a great deal of protection. Before the spirit will allow itself to come to the surface, name three things you might do, to make your Fortunette feel safe."

arrow First I will make it a bed, comfortable with a cover and lined with a scarf that I used to wear all the time... this way it will have a place to hide if it feels the need...
arrow Second I promise to keep it in my sight at all times when it's around the other fortunettes... this way it will never need worry about being lower in the life chain for I will protect it.
arrow I promise to never treat it's fears as trivial... this way all it's fears will be dealt with in a way that wil help it to understand and hopefully, eventually overcome them...

Poems and Promises...

Journal::

My name is Ki. I live in a wagon with a mole and we travel around with the caravan. This is a new book, to replace the one that I lost when I lost my wagon, and I will try and scribe in this one as much as I scribed in the last, if not more. I'm usually pretty good at this but I have my lapses.

Let me start with my book worm wannabe. I do love him, but I also find him so exasperating. It's terrible of me I know. But I can't help it. I love the outdoors... the sunshine and thesound of the birds, the warmth and even the rain (sometimes) but all he ever wants to do is sit in his cubby on his shelf and dwell in the cold and calm blankets he keeps there. I'm pretty sure that he likes me well enough, but I wish he and I shared more intrests... he's also rather plump for a mole, and he squints at everything he looks at. I think he needs glasses.

Journal...

So I've been away. I don't care.

But that's a lie. Van and I took our wagon and we pursued a life alone for a while. It was a lark. I wanted to see if I could do it, and I can...

Now I miss my friends and 'family' ... and I think poor Van Dien needs friends and family.... other kids his own age.

So I'm back. and I think I may like it here.

As for my little mole-child... I don't really think he's changed any... he's still extremely shy and self involved. He won't spend more than an hour outside each day, and he doesn't seem to be able to see very well. There was a pair of spectacles left on the wagon steps before I left.... I think it was Rojiza's mother that left them there. Who knows.... Van Dien might need them. It might be a sign or something.

Gypsys are strange folk, and far be it from me to turn my nose up at prophetic signs and whatnot. ....

Journal

He's still a mole. Now that I'm back with the wagontrain of all the other fortunettes, I'm seeing that all the other children are progressing much faster than I had thought they would. Some that are technucally Van's age are already children, while my 'child' remains in animal form...

possibly to punish me. Did I do irrepreble harm by trying to pursue a life away from the others? Is it my fault that my child is stunted?
