This is from the Japanese Student Guild. I would really like to see how shiritori is actually played, so let's try it out. Here are Aiko san's rules. (I can't answer too many questions you may have seems how Aiko san left. XP)

Some of you may already know how to play Shiritori, but not many westerners know the real rules of the game. So, here they are.
~No verbs.
~Dakutens and handakutens can be removed Or added:
ぱ→は pa→ha
ひ→ぴ hi→pi
び→ひ bi→hi
ひ→び hi→bi
~Letters like きゃkya、Can be regarded as one letter, or you can choose to use the やya instead.
Ex. んにゃ→やくnnya→yaku
~No repetion of words.
~You may use ん nand っ small tsu at the end.
NOTE: These are the rules Aiko san provided. I add only one rule: Kanji is not manditory, but PLEASE USE KANA. I will allow roumaji, but only if you are still learning or cannot type in Japanese. If you CAN, please provide the kana for practice. I cannot stress enough on how improtant it is to know the alphabet of the language you are learning.
