Introduction

In Celtic Europe it was thought that there was another world under the ground beneath our feet. This could be explained by the second set of branches underneath the trees and how springs of water would magically appear from below the earth. This was one of the origins of belief in the Underworld, another plain that could be reached after death.

Lately that story has been viewed as a load of nonsense, and while the Celts had not got it entirely right, there was still a different world, completely separate to our own which only a select few may see.

This world like any other had it's conflicts, as different races of faery folk tried to live together and ageing empires crumbled to smaller nations. However one land remained the same, regardless of what was going on outside.

The Labyrinth lay right in the center of it all, but very few were granted access to it, and even fewer were able to solve it. Some believed its daunting walls were built to keep everyone out but some suspected that it was built to keep something in. It had been there so long that those thoughts disapeared for it was merely there and always had been.

The Labyrinth had been granted to the Goblin race, so long ago that nobody remembered when, or understood why. Still the goblin nobility had been easily influenced and had made some particularly disastrous mistakes in the past, one of which was allowing marriages with foreign royalty which caused all sorts of problems with land ownership and asylun and goodness knows what. In fact the royal blood of the original goblin royalty had been so watered down that it's present king was practically Fae and looked nothing like his tiny subjects, but more like a human.

Jareth paced impatiently back and forth across the throne room. That blasted envoy was late again. The unseelie were always horribly unpunctual. However the world was becoming a smaller place and if they had any chance of survival they would have to make a trade agreement with the other nations. It was in their best interests to come this eve.
But the unseelie were a stubborn race, intigration was not part of their vocabulary and they they were notoriously secretive.

Leoven sighed nervously as his carriage drew him ever closer to the forbodding castle. The path had been lit clearly for the occasion as it was rare for visitors to be granted safe passage through the Labyrinth.
The young lord was worried, he had never left his home country before and had only once seen an outsider in his land. Of course he had read about the outside world but the reality was frightening and for the first time he felt lost and out of place.

'okay this is boring....' Macy thought, lying on his back in his bedroom. It had still been kept the same even though he hadn't used it in months now. If he went wandering about he'd have all the stupid little goblins swarming around him, making sure he wouldn't refind his way out of the Labyrinth.

So he had chosen to shut himself up in his room, lying on his canopied bed with his hair down and out of it's usual twin ponytail style. He had forgotten how boring the castle could be at times, the court was holding nothing formal for guests so he was left alone. Unless he wanted to speak to the most unconversational Fae around, that always ended badly anyway. Jareth was too stuck up for his tastes, well 99.9% of the time he was. And he had that new guy coming into court aswell, maybe he'd be entertaining?

Leoven entered the throne room, which had once been a complete tip but the goblins had diligently cleaned once word had gotten round that they would be having guests soon. An elderly and rather ugly goblin announced him and hundreds of beady little eyes turned upon him, each pair filled with mischief. The unseelie felt quite ill at ease.

Having noticed that the diplomat had arrived, the Goblin King rose to his feet, not quite so accidentally stepping on a few of the creatures as he walked towards the stranger.
"Lord Orczy, I'm so glad you could make." he said brightly, obviously making an effort to be agreeable. "Any longer and I might have given up on you. I trust you had a safe journey."

"There were heavy storms as we crossed the mountains I'm afraid." said Leoven, who was nervously fidling with the hem of his cloak.

Jareth gave the man an odd look. He certainly didn't seem the type to go travelling. "You must be tired." he said quickly changing the subject and intructing one of the goblins to prepare a room for the new guest "We'll discuss things in the morning, once you've rested."

The castle had many passages, and many secret passages also. One was behind Jareth's throne, covered with a curtain of red. Even if it was a bit ripped at the hem it still managed to suficiently hide Macy from Jareth's view. He had peeked out at Leoven and then retreated to standing behind the curtain, back pressed to the grimy side wall as he listened to them talk.

He frowned upon noting a few pairs of beady eyes staring at him from under Jareth's throne and hissed lowly making a lundging motion that made the goblins spying on him scamper or retreat further under Jareth's throne. Macy smirked, playing with this new visitor could prove to be very interesting. Especially if he managed to tick off one very stressed out Monarch in the process.

'maybe it's not so boring...' he thought, narrowing his gaze as a few beady eyes returned to stare at him. He had the biggest urge to kick them, but then his hiding place would be revealed.
"go away you stinky little gits" he hissed lowly, giving them his most evil glare.

Leoven followed one of the goblin servants through a myriad of passageways and halls. The castle was indeed a Labyrinth in itself and had he not had a guide then the young lord might have been lost forever. It was dark but Leoven was used to the darkness, and his vision was not affected by it. He admired the tapestries, wall hangings and paintings as he passed them, they were beautiful but a little old and damaged. He still couldn't help feeling uneasy, as if something was watching him. He shrugged it off and blamed it on paranoia, and those goblins, they had really freaked him out.

Macy stepped out from behind a tapestry at the end of the fifth hallway, noting as he dusted his clothes off that the 'Lord Leoven' was being guided down the corridor by those stupid little goblins. Macy narrowed his eyes in distaste as one scampered to stick to his side.

how were these things meant to keep him from escaping? one kick and they were floored. Jareth was an idiot sometimes.

Just out of spite he did kick the goblin and it ended up hitting the oppsoite wall and slumping to the floor in a daze, he smirked, feeling his anger and annoyance duly vented. His black-tipped red hair was still cascading down his shoulders, a look he rarely held.
Being the vain being, he had to look immaculate. His love for jewellry and shiny objects came from his dragon side, and his supposed beauty and vainness from his unicorn side. All in all Macy was a very greedy person down to a point, Jareth spoiled him a lot and it showed in his 'twisted' personality.

"make sure you take him straight to his room, no 'bog of enternal stench' tricks" he said in a commanding voice to the Goblin Leoven was entrusted too. The goblins loved to do such things to Macy, though by now he had learned to anticipate and backfire their tricks. But he wasn't so sure this timid newcomer would handle them. He put on a thinking face before rolling his eyes at his mundane decision.

"on second thought, i'll take him. you bugger off before you become a wall decoration" he said to the Goblin, giving it a pointed look. They were so stupid and ugly to him, he hated them.

Leoven blinked as a strange figure appeared from behind a tapestry, no doubt from a secret passage or something. He was a rather interesting looking creature with red and black hair and five horns upon his head, all very showy in his opinion.

"And who might you be?" he said, sounding a little angrier than he had intended while trying to cover up his initial fear. "And how do I know that you won't lead me astray as you've so rudely accused my guides."

"oh yeah, I want you stinking out the castle while i'm here so i'll just go tip you head first in a place I won't go to, do you know how disgustingly vile smelling it is? best to keep it out of the castle in my opinion, the Goblins stink the place up enough...just shut your yap and follow or I will put you in the bog." Macy answered, rather cruelly. He had tried to help the guy and he'd gotten a venomous tone in response, some gracious and timid newcomer he was turning out to be.

He'd vent his annoyance on Jareth later, he always found that fun, especially when half the Goblin army had once been sent out to track him down one time when he'd left the goblin city and ventured into the actual Labyrinth itself. Being on the run for two days was a laugh.

"I'm Macy Tresquax..but you can call me sir seeing as you seem the type to stick to titles" Macy answered, smirking quiet wickedly at Leoven, though it held more teasing than malice. He turned on his heel and grabbing Leoven's wrist tugged him into a walk, heading for the west wing. The sleeping quarters.

Leoven frowned but let himself be led by the other creature.

"Well, I'm glad I'm not the one who finds those things disturbing, and trust me I've seen disturbing things in my time."

They turned corner after corner until the unseelie truly had no idea where they were, but for some reason he was less worried now. As brash and haughty as this other creature was he didn't sense any harmful intent.

"mm...really? I don't care very much for bragging" Macy answered, fianlly coming to the room Leoven was to be assigned to. He pushed open the heavy oak door and held it open, gesturing with his hand for Leoven to enter, havign let go of the others wrist.

"this is your room, on suite and all..bye bye" Macy answered, a smirk on his face. He knew full well Leoven wouldn't be able to find his way back unguided.

"I was only trying to make conversation." Leoven sniffed "It's rather hard when you've essentially been kidnaped by a.... And just what purpose do you serve here anyway? Are you a servant? A pet? A concubine? It wouldn't surprise me, you certainly dress like one."
PostPosted: Tue Feb 13, 2007 11:22 am

Macy clenched his fists.

"yes i'm a little hussy Jareth keeps around, you'd think that wouldn't you? you with your over-high views...don't bother talking to me again ya priss" Macy answered through gritted teeth, this guy really ticked him off. He turned on his heel and stormed off, not caring for manners or behaving himself as he stormed into the throne room some time later and sat himself in the pit. Looking decidedly put out.
