It had been a long while since Jibanza had last explored the drier areas of the savannah. She usually had hung around her own home with her own pack, but lately she had taken to straying far away from this home.

It just didn't excite her.

She was almost ready to move away from this place, to take up residence somewhere else. The jungle, with it's lush vegetation and running water. Soon, she'd leave for it.

Until then, she needed to prepare. And that was why, today, Jibanza had gone foraging. The little earth-coloured wild dog padded forward, stopping from time to time, raising her nose to try and catch the scent of some of these foods.

She cared not for meat today. Frankly, she wasn't in the mood, and when she was, bloodlust kicked in, and she would often loose control of herself. It was safer to take a nicer, cleaner option... herbs, berries and water.

The little wild dog winded her way through some of the taller grasses she came upon, and hoped there would be some sign of suitable food soon. Maybe she should stop and ask for directions, or advice?

But to find someone... that could be tricky.

Little white feet trotted over the long grass as Amai Kabocha headed on her way out onto the savannah. It was nice to be away from the jungle and the heat that came with it.

Granted her family lived in an alcove off of it but she also hated it just for the fact that if she walked a few steps at all she was in the middle of the steamy swamp. Her mother and father never seemed bothered by it, in fact her father didn't really seem to get bothered by anything at all... ever.

Something streaked past her leg and the small orange and black cheetah glanced down to see a field mouse, though she wasn't hungry. She'd eaten her fair share of fish when she'd been at the creek about a day ago, so her tiny belly was full to capacity with good white meat.

Besides, Amai was on a quest to learn how to heal, not to take life.

To Jibanza, Amai's presence went completely unnoticed.
She hadn't been expecting anyone out in the long savannah grasses where she was now... this part of the place was very thick, and hard to navigate if you weren't sure where you were.

So, the earthy wild dog paid no attention to her surroundings. The only things she cared for were the items on her 'list'...

'That's right!' she thought, grinning, eyes looking this way and that for signs of edible vegetation, 'Today, I have to keep my mind off things I don't need to think about, and concentrate more on finding some her -'

It was small, but the sound was there. Jibanza's ears flicked. There was movement in the grass, just ahead of her. Something was there... something small.
She bent down into a crouch, and sniffed the air.

The scent of a mouse.

And it was just in front of her, too. So close, Jibanza could not stop her mouth from watering. Sure, she didn't need a feed right now. Meat wasn't part of her preparations. Yet... a snack wouldn't hurt her, right?

Having lost her willpower to stick to only berries, Jibanza crept forward, stalking the mouse ahead of her. Her muscles quivered as she moved... it was only a matter of time before the mouse was hers.

'Just a snack,' she thought to herself, mouth watering. Then, she leapt, paws outstretched...

And missed the target, completely, rolling into something with spotted, orange fur instead.
