A new development can be found over on the southern edge of the village, west of the lake. Throughout the day, noises of hammering, sawing, shouting, and other work-related noises can be heard.
Right now, it’s more a mess than anything, some stakes have been stuck in the ground around the perimeter of where the theater is to be set up, and tools sit atop piles of lumber, ready to be used. A table’s been dragged out, atop which sit the blueprints for the project, detailing the stage layout as well as rows of benches for seating and a couple shallow troughs to be filled with water for the aquatically inclined islanders.
((Directions for the thread: This place is open RP, like the Halloween event thread, with no posting order. Feel free to come and go as you please! If you want to RP with someone else in here, that is perfectly fine, and you can set up meetings in here.
If you want your character to join in, you can just say they were either asked by Gaius, or saw his noticed on the bulletin board and came over to help, or they can also just wander over, curious about the racket going on.
This will likely go on for a couple weeks, depending on how long it takes to get work done and how many people RP! Also, if you make progress on the project in a multi-character RP, please make a note in your last post along the lines of “Update: The first row of benches are now done” or “The stage foundation has been laid out” just to give folks a heads-up of what’s been done and can be built upon!
Also, there CAN be misshaps! Not everyone is as adept at construction, after all! Just be sure to include those set-backs in the update too!
Have fun!))
Edit: A day of labor later... A large rectangular area is in the process of being dug out by various workers. Things are slowly starting to make progress.

A small yawned escape the penguin boy's mouth as he found himself wandering through the village. Marshall had stayed up late watching movies with his new British friend, but some how sleep didn't sound all that appealing. As he continued on his walk, he noticed a large pile of lumber and sounds of...Well, they weren't Power Tools. They sounded like old, traditional tools. Did people even use those any more?
"...Ello?" he called out, wandering into the construction site, looking around curiously.

Gaius was in the midst of sawing when Marshall walked up. Catching the movement out of the corner of his eye, Gaius looked up with pricked ears, grinning broadly. "Marshall!"
Waving a hand at the setup, he looked quite proud of himself. "The grand project is finally under way!"

Marshall looked around blankly, before looking back at Gaius with a perplexed look on his stretched face.
"Ummm...What project?" Marshall asked meekly. Whatever it was, Gaius sure was proud of it.

Gaius blinked, frowning. The look he gave Marshall clearly looked like the penguin had missed something obvious. "The theater, of course! It's what all this work is!"
He glanced back at the project and winced. Alright, it wasn't much of a construction site yet... but it was getting worked on! "It'll look better after we get some work done." His grin quickly returned and he leaned towards his feathered friend with a cheeky grin. "So! Here to lend a hand?"

"Ooohhhh...Okay! I didn't know you were going to build any thing...But yeah, I'll help. Kind of sounds like fun, y'know? Just tell me what to do, Cheif!" Marshall said, giving a small salute to Gaius. He had never actually built any thing before, but it couldn't be that hard, right?

"Know how to use a shovel?" Gaius chuckled as he picked up said tool and tossed it in Marshall's direction. "The area of the stage's been marked out over there," he pointed to an area near the trees that had little posts hammered into the ground in a wide rectangle shape, "and needs to have the edges dug out for the walls to be put in. Don't have any cement, so we'll just have to work with deep poles."

Marshall has begun digging for the foundation
"G-Got it! So I go over there and just dig out room for support beams and junk?" Marshall asked, clumsily catching the shovel.

Gaius nodded encouragingly. "That's right, just dig in the marked spots, and if you're confused, the blueprints are over there." He waved a hand in the direction of the table where papers sat with rocks at their corners to keep them from moving.
"Don't worry, it's easy to do. I'm sure you'll be fine."

"Yes Sir, Gaius!" Marshall chuckled, heading over to the marked spot to start digging. It was surprisingly easy work, though in some parts he had to get on his hands and knees and move a stubborn rock or two.

Shenzi approached the construction site, looking around with a critical eye. Not much had been done so far, not that she could see at least. After Billy mentioned that Gaius was overseeing the building of the theater, she had decided to check it out. And she had only seen Gaius the one time with Brian, then thanksgiving.
Shrugging to herself, she carefully walked through the dirt, not caring if her feet got muddy, in a short green skirt and a close fitting striped shirt, with her hat pulled down over her hair, her hair combed over her ears, though the feathered tips still stuck out. She couldn't see him anywhere, but he might be somewhere else.

Gaius, to his credit, had abandoned the saw to help Marshall with the digging, loading the extra dirt into a wheelbarrow. Setting aside his shovel, the big guy trundled the dirt away to where it'd be dumped on the side until it was needed for packing in foundations.
He didn't notice Shenzi at first, despite her colorful clothing, too caught up in his work. It felt good to be productive again and doing what he'd always loved. He was so happy, in fact, he couldn't help but whistle a little Christmas tune, in light of the season, though the tropical sun and balmy atmosphere certainly didn't feel like the kind of Christmas the Eastern Coast boy was used to.

Shenzi was about to leave, when she finally saw Gaius pushing along a wheelbarrow full of dirt. Raising an eyebrow, she hopped over to walk behind him; he hadn't seen her yet. Grinning to herself, the dirt under her feet muffling her steps, she followed after him step for step, only a few inches behind him as she grinned, her tail swinging behind her. But when he started whisteling, she couldn't help but laugh. She held it in, but a small titter still came out.

One of his ears twitched indignantly and he stopped suddenly in his steps, causing the girl to crash into his back. He let out a yelp, head swinging around to try and see what'd made the noise and was assaulting him from the rear, and finally spun around to see Shenzi. His surprised expression faded to a warm grin as he quickly recognized the uniquely-dressed young woman.
"Ah! ...Sarah!" he flubbed, memory for names failing him once again. "It's good to see you! Doing alright with laundry and all now?" He chuckled, taking a moment to settle the wheelbarrow down properly before turning back.

Shenzi plowed into his back as he stopped moving, and she smacked her nose on his spine. Rubbing her nose with the back of her hand, she grinned at Gaius, though it turned into a small smirk, accompanied by a raised eyebrow when he adressed her. "Sarah? Since when's my name Sarah?" She grinned again, laughing under her breath. "The laundry is doing well enough, it thanks you kindly for asking." Shenzi said, leaning against the now stationary wheelbarrow.
