c h i l d h o o d : Uchiha Sasuke was born the youngest of two children in his family. He loved his mother, wanted to be just like his father, and was inspired by his brother. Being a member of the prestigous Uchiha clan, Sasuke was a smart and talented child, becoming the top student in his class at the Konoha Ninja Academy. He constantly trained, hoping to surpass his brother and become noticed by his father. Once, during a training session with Itachi, Sasuke revealed that he wanted to be part of the Konoha Military Police Department. His father worked there, and he wanted to work there, too. However, his dreams were shattered and altered when one night Sasuke came home to find that his brother had slaughtered his entire family. Itachi tells Sasuke to hate him, and avenge his clan. He tells Sasuke to get the Mangekyou Sharingan by killing his best friend, and leaves Konoha. Sasuke swears to avenge his clan.
t e a m k a k a s h i : After graduating from the Konoha Ninja Academy as the Number One Rookie of his class, the popular Sasuke is irritated to find that he is to be put in a squad with two other classmates. He is assigned to Team Seven, along with Haruno Sakura (a girl with a huge crush on him) and Uzumaki Naruto (a boy with a huge crush on Sakura, and whom didn't like Sasuke at all). Sasuke believes that Sakura and Naruto will only slow his progress down, but he comes to find that though he surpasses his teammates, he is far from his sensei (Hatake Kakashi)'s strength. Farther into the series, however, Sasuke admits to thinking of his team as precious people that he does not want to lose. Even so, after gaining power in the Chuunin Exams by a cursed seal from an evil sannin named Orochimaru, Sasuke chooses revenge over his team and village, and leaves Konoha behind to get more power under the training of Orochimaru.
