Arith's ears flicked backwards as te hissing of "Shhh!" coming for about the 100th time from the old librarian lady behind the desk.He snorted and ducked behind a shelf, mumbling to himself."Old lady is the one that needs to be quiet.."He have another snort and left the isle of books, wandering aimlessly bask other shelves. They made him think of dominos, all stacked no nice adn straight, but then when you pushed one over it knocked ito the next, then the next.A chain reaction?Thats what his mom had said atleast, before mumpling something about a bush?
Arith turned on the heels of his new boots, that had earlier been forced onto his feet and then he had been threatened into keeping them on.He looked at the last of the large bookcases, wondering if it fell over, if the rest would be taken down, like dominos. He took a step back and bumped into the book cart, that metal cart the old hag of a librarian pushed around sometimes, and knocked it over. After it crashed to the floor he heard footsteps, no doubt the librarians, and hurried off to the other side of the library so as not to be seen near the mess.

The noise was loud enough that Narayan looked up from where he had been checking some of the books out. Reading was not something he liked, but it was punishment given by JD for the other... reading materials he kept bringing into the house. Having to read one book every two days and give his father an oral report was The punishment of all punishments.
So far he had been in here for fifteen minutes, and none of the books looked short enough.
Using the noise as a distraction, Narayan looked up from where the noise came, and saw the boy heading his way. Huh. How... fluffy. Immediatly curious, he raised his hand in partial wave. Not because he recognized the boy perse, but because...well.
Two brothers who didn't belong in a library were bound to recognize each other.

Arith noticed the boy and gave a small wave, he didn't recognize him, an elephant boy?Thats what it looked like, he had seen elephants on tv before, but hadn't really payed attention. He took a few steps passed the boy, stopped, adn turned."Hello."He gave a small smile and glanced around the elephant kid at the librarian to see if she had noticed him walking away from the knocked over cart.
Seeing she hadn't he leaned back against the bookshelf behind him, glancing over his shoulder to see what books they were."Lookin for something to read?"He turned and looked att he books more closely, tail twitching in a bored manner. He had been dropped of to find something to read, Mia insisted he do something other than watching tv all day.

Narayan frowned, nodding his head. "I haveta." he responded, waving his nose to the selection of books with disgust. "I'm in trouble with da, so he said I need to read to book if I want to get out of trouble." Jeez. The things he ended up being forced to do in the name of punishment.
Turning to the boy and seeing the tail twitch, he grinned. So, the boy didn't really like to read either? Pulling one book out, he offered it. "I read this one. Not that many pictures, so it makes you look real smart but the words are really easy. " maybe if he offered one, the boy would have something to give him too in return?
Yeah. That was the way to do it.

Arith nodded as he pulld one of the books out a little, looked at the cover, and pushed it back in.Why did they even make bookss when you could just watch the movie? He looked over at the offered book and took it, leafng through a few pages to see.The elephant boy was right, there weren't many pages, but it looked like it would be an easy read."Thanks."He grinned.
Figuring it wouldn't be a fair trade if he didn't offer something he tried to think of a good, easy book.He bit his bottom lip lightly, brow furrowing in though. After a moment he grinned again and dissapeared, coming back a few moments later with a book in hand.It looked as if it was long and boring, since..who wouldn't think a long book was boring. He offered it to the elephant bow, ears twitching forward."Here, it looks big, but it has bigger print than others, and it's really easy to read to."He stuck his tongue out, wars twitching again in amusement. It was like some big joke on their parents that they would never figure out.
"Oh, im Arith!"He had realized he hadn't offered his name, and was curious to know who the elephant boy was.

Narayan held the book in his hands and flipped open the pages with his nose. Yeah, the font WAS big. Grinning as if they had shared a secret between them, he nodded. "Yeah, thanks."
"Rayan." he nodded his head, tucking the book under one arm. "Narayan, but people call me whatever they want." Getting up and looking around, he decided this mission was complete.
"I don't likes the books here. They don't have many good magazines. And then people yell at me if I end up looking at them." no. The big adult books were full of too many strange words for him to understand (although in that romance section... some of the covers were quite pretty) and the magazines he liked seemed to be kept on the tallest of shelves...

"Nice to meet ya, Rayan."Arith smiled and looked around, nodding in agreement."Yeah, I can't find anything good here..don't even know what I did wrong to have t read a book."his ears flicked backwards slightly before perking forward again, blinking at the Narayan."They yell at ya, what for?"

Narayan smiled. Slowly, happily as he motioned for Arith to follow. "They have some magazines full of really really pretty women. But every time I look at them, I get into trouble. Tha's why I'm here. Da yelled at me for showing hte magazine to a girl. Her ma' called and talked to dad." he winced. Now that was still a sore spot.
Never again. Next time, he would make the people promise not to tell on him first.
"You want to see? I saw them on the high shelf of magazines at the back." They didn't look new, but that was okay. Art was art, right?
Besides, they had traded one type of information already. It wouldn't hurt to share another.

Arith followed after Narayan, ears twitching as the elephant boy spoke."Pretty women? Why'd ya get in trouble for that?"He was a tad confused, why would someone get in trouble for showing someone a magazine? He gave a small nod att he question, curius to know what these magazine were that could get one in trouble."Sure!"

Narayan let out a little, a little whoop fo delight as he nodded his head. Hurray! Clutching the book even tighter, he made his way towards the back of the library, the slightly seedy magazine section that he had actually passed more then once.
"They very high up." he started again, turning to watch Arith. Hmmm... he had a cute tail, and while Narayan could stretch a little bit further with his nose, it was certainly not long enough. Maybe Arith had a hidden tongue, or something? Something long and big and...
"There." he pointed. MAXIM. It read. FHM. And then, next to it (and Narayan's favorite)
SPORTS ILLUSTRATED.

Arith followed after him, glancing around in a dissinterested way at the bookcases they passed. As Narayan stopped he stopped beside him, glancing up at what Narayan was pointing at.They were high up, hwo were they gonna get at them?He gave a quick glance around, but didn't really see anything useful.
"How we gonna get it?"He looked at Rayan's trunk, but it didn't look long enough, and after another quick glance around he frwoned, blinking lightly."Well.."He looked at the boy again, ears twitching as he sort of..sized Narayn up.With another twitch of his ears he looked abck up at the magazines."Maybe if..I got on your shoulders? Then we migth be able to reach it."He looked back at Narayan, wondeing if he would want someone climbing atop him.

Narayan paused too, tilting his head as he stared down at his own feet. Well. If would be easier then Narayan himself climbing on Arith's shoulders. His own feet were a trifle too wide to climb.
"That be good." he answered, nodding as he stretched to point at the one he was looking at. "It's the Sports one. You know, the one with the girl in the yellow bathing suit?"
Children couldn't have lecherous smiles, right? So he merely nodded his head, placing his hands against the rack and testing out his balance.
"Are you heavy?"

Arith nodded as he was told which one to get, though blinked slightly as the question."Heavy?I don't..think so."He bounced slightly, trying to figre out if he was or not.Well, he could carry himself when he walked, so he must not be that heavy, right?
With a shrug me moved behind Narayan takin a small step further back.He took a ciuple quick steps and jumped landing a bit akwardly on the elaphant kid's shoulders. He steadied himself and stoof up, placing a hand again sthe shelves infront of him to keep from falling.
He poked through and found the one Narayan has mentioned with the girl yellow bathing suit."got it!"with a grin he bent down a bit and jumped off Narayan's shoulders, turning slightly around so he wasn't landing blindly. After a wobbly second, as he land landed pretty hard adn his legs were tingling, he stood up and held out the magazine."This it, right?"

WOW THAT WAS HEAVY. But Narayan had been braced with big legs and sturdy shelf, so he only nodded. And it had been fast too! "You were really fast." and this? This was so promising.
Narayan nodded, excited as he stared at the magazine. Pointing to the cover, he looked over. "I showed one of these to a girl and that got me into trouble." deciding that THAT was surely the reason (and not all the boobie talk) that he was forced through this punishment in the first place.
Reaching for it and flipping it open, he paused on one page of a beach and a blonde in a white and pink bikini, and sat down, showing it to Arith.
"Waddaya think?"

Arith smiled, ear twitching, but he said nothing. He moved around to Narayan's side and looked at the cover of the magazine."I don't see why it get you in trouble. He plopped down as Narayan did, head cocking slightly to the side as Rayan showed him the page with the blonde in a bikini."Wacha mean?"He glanced at Narayan then abck at the magazine."She pretty, but she gots no fur?"He was sort of used to seing people with fur and such, his mom was a cat after all, and it seemed weird to have a magazine of 'normal' people.
