Hay guys! Took an overly large amount of time, but I did something new. (wee) And I can knock off two birds by posting it-- I can get feedback AND wish you all a Merry Christmas. 3nodding The background leaves much to be desired, but don't all of the backgrounds I make? I think so, yes. neutral

i think it might help if you added some purple on the figure itself? right now it doesn't seem she's integrated into the environment very much, giving it a very flat feel. i see some subtle hints of purple for the shading on the fur of the had and jacket, but it'd be nice to also see more of the hue coloring the actual items to kind of show the background color bouncing onto her.
if backgrounds are your weaker areas, maybe you can try applying flat shapes to give it more of a finished feel. one idea is to maybe add some white dots for snow...then you can also put some white dots in front of everything and blur some of them to show some movement. even something subtle like using a different color gradient can make a background look interesting.
i think what bothers me most is the cropping on the bottom. with the placement of the mistletoe and ribbons it feels dangerously close to the edge, like it's going to fall off the edge any minute. because of the precarious position it's in, my eyes keep focusing on it. the same goes with the incomplete coloring on the bottom of the figure. i'd probably get rid of the purple peeking through since it's kind of odd see her having a floating detached abdomen and cropped off arm.
is that your writing? it's very pretty.

I love her nubby little nose - it's very cute.
The only thing I'm really put off by is the mittenned hand, but I'd think that doing a mitten well would be pretty difficult.
