The night was chill, but at least the brisk air made for good star-gazing. Nice and clear, the starts stark against the velvet sky. The pride thought that old kings lived on as stars... but Matsai wasn't sure what he thought of that. It would mean his grandfather was up there, looking down, but... it was hard to believe that just because one was a king that you got to be a star when you died.
Sighing, the blue cub dropped his eyes to the lands spread out below Priderock, shrouded in darkness and shadow. The sight of the night time world did a little to soothe the troubled Matsai, but it wasn't enough. Nothing was ever enough to calm him after a restless night spent in the grip of powerful nightmares. Why did this happen to him? Ahai never complained of bad dreams... His twin wasn't the one that dreamed of the day their father lost his wings and gained his scars, or the night their grandfather died... living through every blood-drenched moment over and over again, hearing every cry of pain, the splintering of bone and the sick, sloshy sound of torn flesh.
Emerald eyes squeezed tightly shut as the cub's normally icy facade cracked and a soft whimper slipped from him. What was wrong with him? Why did he dream like this, when no one else did? Even the voices Belial heard seemed better than the dispear that filled him every time the sun set.

Khari, flying out in the night sky, glided her wings down to find perhaps, a rest stop. Her wings flapped slightly as if to brush away the cool, in hopes of making the air warmer. She tucked in neatly, her wings afterwards, and noticed the black wing seemed to blend in with the darkness of the night. "One winged." she smiled amusedly at herself.
Feeling, soothed for once. She heard a small sigh, and looked around curiously. 'Who was here, at this time of the night?' Her eyes darting back and forth, before she saw something other than the land around her. Something dark blue, that wouldnt be seen unless you actually looked. "Hello?" she called out softly, her voice has a musical note to it. Noticing the whimper that soon followed and the tear, she felt her heart break. "Is there something wrong?" She asked in the silence, praying that it wasnt a problem entirely out of her hands. Perhaps she could help?

The blue cub started as a soft voice came out of the darkness. He jumped to his white-tipped paws, whirling to face the speaker. His head dropped low, black ears pressing against his head.
"Who's there?" He called out, tail dipping between his legs. "What do you want?" His voice hardened, turning cold and emotionless as his mask rose to mask his feelings again. Who could be out so late at night? Normally he had Priderock to himself at this time of night... He wasn't looking forward to having his sanctuary invaded.
And that voice... it wasn't a voice he'd heard before. Which ment it wasn't a pridemember... Green eyes narrowed as the cub struggled to pierce the darkness. Rouges were dirty, lazy things... good for nothing, or so his mother said. But...
Power, he could feel it thrumming from where the voice had come from. It washed over him, reminding him of his father, but in a different way. It made those strange visions tickle at the edges of his vision and he struggled to push them back. Now was not the time to be overwhelmed.

She stepped out of the darkness, her white fur, seemingly illuminated by the moonlight giving her a faint glow. Noticing his stance, she wondered, keeping her giggle in to herself, if the lion planned to attack her.
"I am Khari, well, a go -- no not that. I prefer to say myself as a regular lion. What do you think? She said tilting her head and giving him a smile. She had noticed, the change in voice, and said gently "You dont need to disguise yourself in front of me. I daresay I have no intention of blackmail, and its not very nice, is it?"
She narrowed her eyes straight back at the green eyes that stared at her. Now she could clearly be seen, as the cub was at this distance. 'A cub!" She looked at surprise. Apparently this cub, was beyond his years, as cubs didnt normally hide behind a mask, but instead were naive and a open book. What made this cub different? She wondered.

Matsai frowned as he looked over the... lioness? She certainly wasn't part of the pride. He was sure he'd remember someone like her. His suspicions confirmed the cub drew himself up to his full height, his lineage putting him at well over a normal cub's weight and height at his age. He was hefty, and well muscled... something that he prided himself on.
"Khari, huh? What are you doing in the Pridelands? You're not part of the pride... and I'm not disguising anything." There was a flicker of something over his face, something that might have been a frown. " This is how I always am." Her words... 'regular lion', confused him. Just what did she mean by that?
Snorting lightly, Matsai stalked a few steps closer, the fur down his spine bristling. He didn't like people to see him in his moments of weakness.

"Whats wrong with going where you want to go? I mean, you dont have to be part of a jungle pride to go into a jungle, or a hunting pride to go hunting, correct?" She said simply. Why was this cub against her? Taking a closer look at the cub, she was inwardly impressed. A bit more than your average cubs, actually.
"Your not? Then is it your eyes or my eyes that are mistaken? I thought I had 100% vision!" She said cheerfully. "Just because thats the way you are, doesnt mean its you, right?" She pointed out. "But of course, if you prefer, you can be you and I can be I."
Khari stayed where she was. The cub could simply walk to her, if it wanted to. "Perhaps we could be friends?" Her posture was a relaxed manner. "What about your name?" She made an attempt to be friendly.

Matsai snorted as she spoke. Confusing thing, she was. He let her words slip past him for the most part, not even trying to comprehend what she ment but those strange phrases.
"Going into a Pride's territory, when you're not part of that pride, can be a dangerous thing. Not all prides are as easy going as mine. You'd probably get scars on that white hide of yours, if not lose your life entirely." He stopped just outside of her reach, his eyes narrowed. Another snort left him, this time sounding almost like laughter.
"Friends are for the weak." He said, conveniently leaving out the fact that he did have some lions he considered friends. "And my name is Matsailema, and I'm a prince, grandson to the rulers. Now it would be polite if you gave me yours." The cub didn't seem to care that he might come off as overly hostile. Lack of sleep and fear did much to dampen even his mood.

"It's easygoing here? Well, I suppose in terms of possession it probably is.." She looked at the land around them in scrutiny. "But dont worry, a few scars will probably dissapar in time. and I wont die! My goal is to live, and thats something I wont give up." Her voice rang as clear as the bell in the night as she moved a bit closer close the distance between the two lions.
"Every lion must have a friend somewhere. Your grandfather and father's must've had friends. I suppose you are calling them weak as well?" She pointed out logically. "But thank you for the name. Prince is a fine title, I would say. I am Khari. Very nice to meet you, Matsailema of the pridelands." She gave a small bow.
"Now tell me why a cub like you, is awake in the middle of the night. I thought lions slept, unless I was mistaken?"

The blue cub frowned, his version of a fierce scowl, at the mention that his father or grandfather might be weak. "Father doesn't have any friends..." He said, straightening up as she stepped closer to him. He wanted to back up to prevent any chance of her touching him, but then again, he didn't want her to think he feared her or something... Still, he eyed her to make sure she did get that close, green eyes rather wide in his face.
Her question brought his ears down, pressing them against his head. He didn't like being found being weak either... and that question just reminded him of what he'd been doing when she showed up. "I was... getting some fresh air." Matsai said stiffly, his tail tucking between his legs. "I should be asleep, yes, but I couldn't sleep."

"Oh? I find that hard to believe, but if you say he doesnt, then you should know, right?" Khari stepped a few steps backward, as not to alarm the cub any furthere. Even she would be alarmed if something stepped out to greet her in the middle of the night.
Khari noticed the little lions movement, his ears, and his tail. She frowned inwardly at them, not believing the excuse that this little lion gave. Even if it werent for the movements, the stiffness of his voice gave it away. "Okaaay. If you say so. Is there anything else you want to tell me you were doing?" Khari inserted a trace of doubtfulness into her voice. This little lion.. was crying when she had come, and she wouldnt forget that, not so easily, and certainly not a few minutes, or hours from when it happened.

Matsai snorted and chose to ignore her comment about his father. He seized on the second set of questions, gladly taking the new topic even if it got dangerously close to his weakness.
"Why would I want to tell you anything? I just met you, I don't know anything about you." The cub gave a soft huff, his green eyes narrowed as he looked the lioness up and down. "But if you must know... I was having bad dreams." His voice dropped, fading out as he revealed his nightly troubles. He'd only ever told Ahai about it, trusting his twin to never reveal his little secret. Matsai didn't care to have people pitying him, or worse, teasing him about it.
Turning away ubruptly, he stalked away and sat down, staring at his paws. Just what would this stranger think? Would she laugh at him, for letting meer dreams trouble him?

"The first step to friendship is talking, isnt it? And to even things out, I dont know about about you either, so we're pretty much the same in those regards." She shrugged.
"You have bad dreams?" Judging by the volume of the little one's voice, Khari guessed, sympathetically, that this cub didnt tell anyone much of this problem. "Well! That can be resolved easily." She walked over to pat the blue cub's head, before feeling a flurry of images rushing into her head. It took more of her effort, not to wrench her paw away. Normally in her use of powers, she asorbed the dreams, and slowly dissolved the negative energy into herself. What had this cub suffered to have these sorts of dreams? She wondered before finishing her task, and lifted her paw and lightly setting it onto the ground.
"Well, everyone has one or two skeletons, they'd like to hide in their closet." She said softly, fearing that the uninvited touch, may have hurt his feelings or imposed on him..

Matsai gasped softly the first time her paw landed on him, tensing as his eyes went wide. Green as a new leaf, but blank and glassy...
His breathing sped up till he was gasping, his heart pounding in his chest. The visions... They swamped him, flooding his mind and smothering him under their weight. "I... I see..." The cub gasped out, trembling violently as he stared sightlessly ahead. So many things he saw... his past, her past... Or what he would guess was her past. She looked no older than him, but her surroundings were much differnt. Figures with wings like she had, places he'd only ever seen in dreams that were much like these visions. He couldn't stand it... his heart was going to explode in his chest, and it was so hard to breath...
No lion's touch had brought visions so strongly as this one's... This goddess of dreams. Yes, he knew her now. How strange, that she should find him now, after he'd had a particularly bad night. Gasping, he tore himself free of the flood with an effort, nearly falling on his face as he scrambled away from her. Whirling, he stared at her as he struggled to catch his breath. "Don't... don't touch me." He rasped. "It... hurts. You have no idea... how much it hurts!"

Khari just realizing that there was an exchange between them, her eyes widened in alarm. "Dont.. tell me your a seer of some sort?" Her paw seemed to burn, simply from touching the young cub. "That was.. certainly a surprise. Maybe I should be more careful from now on." She remarked dryly, trying to lighten the mood. The cub.. was in so much agony, that already she had regretted touching him
Her eyes, gentle, as she moved away farther from the pup. "..I'm sorry about touching you. I had no idea that it would affect you more greatly than any other lion. I wont come any closer to you, if that is your wish." She said quietly. But at least, she had done her job, and assisted in some way, that she was able to. "Shall I leave? I wouldnt like my presence to cause you any more trouble."

"You... you don't understand..." The blue cub panted as he sank onto his white belly, laying his paws over his head in an effort to calm him self till the pain receded a little. "Its just the touching... and the dreams. Seer?" His ears twitched as he picked up on the word she'd used, turning it over in his head. It had a rightness to it... though he wasn't entirely sure what it was that made him a 'seer'. The visions?
"Why did you touch me, Goddess?" He lowered his paws so he could dig his claws into the dirt. "Did you think you could affect my dreams some how? Its not good dreams I need... its no dreams at all. Every night... the whole time I sleep, nothing but dream upon dream upon vision...." The barest of a sigh crept past his lips as he reigned in his emotions, getting them under control.
"All I want is a night of pure sleep.... with nothing at all in my head."
