I just made it into top band at my school, and switched to base, because I'm last chair anyway, and they need a base, plus one of our directors, and amazing trombone player, said I've got something with my low range, and that it could really come out on base.

do you have any tips on how to acquire this "something with my low range?" i'm great when it comes to playing high notes, but the lowest i can get to is a f (one octave below the staff). if you have any tips that would be great.

My section leader told me that she got her ability with the lower register by playing pettle tones with her warm up.

Congratulations on top band. ^^ I switched from flute to trombone about a year or two ago and my band director and teacher both say I have a better sound on trombone and I play it better than I could ever play flute. In Flute choir, they have me on alto flute and I have amazing sound on it.

We go straight from marching to concert.. with a bit of overlay towards Winter Break because of our Winter Parade..

My trombone section in marching band this year did that, we had no sectionals, we probably practiced outside of band, during rehearsal and during band class

The trombone and baritone are the only brass instruments I can buzz into. Trumpets are too tiny. x_X (I won't even try tuba/sousaphone)

Trumpets are too tiny. x_X (I won't even try tuba/sousaphone) trombone and baritone are the only only instruments i can play, ive gotten a few notes oout of a clarinet, but its a woodwind so that doesnt really count... ive tried to play my friends tuba before... it was nightmarish.

I play 18 instruments, so it wasn't as drastic as flute to trombone, I kinda switched around first, but I do have better tone quality on trombone than anything else. Except percussion lol but that doesn't count for tone...
