Drowning Lessons will be told between a first person narative, Ariel's point of view, and a third person narrative so the story can be told from the best angles at the best times. (With a chance of switching to another's point of view.) A characters thought will be in italisized quotes. "Like this."
I may add in character journal/diary entries or letters to people to help and tell the story. The entry will be signed by the writer and assigned a certain color for said character. I will be making a list of characters such far in this post, I'll have them in the characters color. (When a story is being told through a characters point of view they'll get their assigned entry color too. Third person is in black)
I may run out of colors after a while so only characters that have already made at least one entry will get their own color.
Character list
Ariel Ray Gerard Mikey Bob Frankie
This'll be set in a public highschool setting. Ages changed, of course.
Ariel age 15/grade 10 (sophmore) Ray age 16/grade 11 (Junior) Gerard age 17/grade 11 (Junior) Mikey age 15/grade 10 (sophmore) Bob age 17/grade 12 (senior) Frankie age 16/grade 11 (junior)
--Yes I know Bob came from Chicago and not New Jersey. But oh well. xD--
Titled Drowning Lessons for a reason, yes a water based reason.
Please leave comments and critique, it can help me improve and may just be what keeps me up with the story.
[Rated PG-13 for any language or violence that may occur.]

Prologue.
I never liked the water, not one bit. I hated it. If I was given a choice between drowning and burning up I’d rather burn up, even if it’d make my body demented. (Not that I’d care anyway I’d be dead.) I hate the water, it’s the worst element ever. Why is it even here? Even drinking it sickens me, mostly because I know I need it to live. What a shame that I really need it.

Later today, what'd I tell ya'?//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// A puddle? A-a puddle? A deep, black, pit of a puddle, just sitting here in the street? It hasn’t rained in a while though. So how’d this--? Rain drops? It was clear two seconds ago! Damn it! Oh, I have an umbrella. Might as well put it up. Didn’t I leave the house without it though? Wait, it’s raining under the umbrella?! s**t, it’s blood under here!
“ARIEL!” Light? My room? It was just another dream? “ARIEL!” Oh, it’s mom. I guess I’ll answer, “What do you want mom?” I have to yell who knows how far. “Ariel, it’s time to wake up! It’s time for school!” Damn it, the first day of school.- -Time Lapse- -
Ariel walked through the empty road, a few children waited in front of their houses for their bus to come, such was an elementary kids morning. But Ariel had to walk about a block and a half before getting to her bus stop. Still munching on some toast from the morning she gazed at the clear sunny sky thinking of the most basics of things, the weather, “Not a cloud in sight and warm, warm sunshine. For once a good time to start school off with.”
Soon enough though the bright and cheery mood would weaken, for of course what does she stumble upon but a deep, black, pit of a puddle, just sitting in the street, right by her bus stop. Ariel stopped dead in her tracks. Her eyes widened and her legs brought her back a few steps onto the sidewalk.
“You almost missed the bus stop,” a deep voice spoke from behind her and she whirled around to find a boy she wasn’t quite familiar with with a huge grin on his face. “No one’s moved in around here lately but I haven’t seen this kid before, who the hell is he?” Ariel couldn’t help but let her rudeness seep from her mouth, “Who the ******** are you?” The raven haired boy’s face dropped, “My name’s Frankie, … Don’t you remember me?” Ariel was fast to reaspon "Hell, no. We've never met." Frankie seemed to look more and more confused, "Oh well, sorry then. I must've mistaken you for...someone else." Little did Ariel know that she had known Frank a long time ago.
Before too long another boy showed up at the stop, looking a bit older than the first. Half tamed hair and an almost smirk painted across his face, this boy she remembered, he had been in her swimming lessons when she was a little girl. Neither of them would ever even touch the water, along with another little boy named Gerard. Ray was this ones name. A long time friend of hers. "Hey, princess," Ray said as he joined her and Frank on the side walk. He often jested with her for being named Ariel, like the mermaid princess, and not being able to swim and never quite acting like a little lady. "Drop it fuss-ball." Ariel shot right back at him.
3rd person narative>
Good now it won't be so awkward now that Ray's here. "Hey princess," there he goes again starting that up. "Drop it fuss-ball." Glaring, I better be looking pretty scary right now. "Aaw, don't do that you know I'm only kidding," Ray talked to me through my what must be an ugly face.
The bus pulled up and I had climbed on leaving Ray and Weirdo-Kid to follow. "Gee-Man!" I shouted back to the end of the bus. I saw one of my best friends sleepy heads rise off of the window, "Damn I just sat down." The bus was empty except for Gerard and his younger brother Mikey and some other kid I didn't know talking to Mikey. Wow pretty early in the pick up program I guess.
I made my way back to where Gerard sat, motioning Ray to follow. Damn Weirdo-Kid followed too. Gerard sat at the end of his two seater and leaned himself into the isle. I took the three seater across from him to myself and Ray took the two seater next to Gerard. Weirdo kid took the three seater across from Ray, which would be right next to me. "DAMN IT," I couldn't help but burst out, "Who the <******** are you anyway?" Everyone stopped their mutal greetings and half started conversations just to stare at me. Mikey and his friend peeped out from their last row seats, it was Bob, I knew whoever he was talking to had a familiar voice, I just couldn't see his face.
Still the pressure was on and I turned my head back to Weirdo-Kid, who didn't look too happy. Damn, he looks scary when he's pissed.

FadeToBlack_x Love it :]!! She's being so mean to Frankie! but it makes me laugh how she keeps referring to him as Weirdo-Kid. Yeah she doesn't really like Frank because of the puddle comment. xD Nor does she know his name, so hence he has a nickname he doesn't know about.
