The french stallions eyes went back to the bleak whiteness that had resided upon the earth a few short days ago. How he despised the stuff. It was cold, wet, and there seemed to be no real reason for it, other than maybe to annoy him. Of course, he knew how true that was. Not at all. The weather gods didnt care anything about him, and it was probably a good thing, as he would most likely end up being disliked by them, causing mass mayhem for him.
He crunched the snow under his hoof and shook his head.
"Tres mal.."
Looking up to the cloud darkened sky, he allowed his midnight blue eyes to connect with the night, allowing him to blend and not let his eyes be told apart from the sky.
His jet black hair that hung in ringlets around his shoulder bounced as he moved.

She was prancing, almost childishly, merrily through the frost. "Sleigh bells ring, are you listening, In the lane, snow is glistening, A beautiful sight, We're happy tonight, Walking in a winter wonderland..." her voice caught out in the still air. It was silent, still, calm, and the only thing real this time of night was the crunch of the snow, and the moon glistening through dead trees.
It made her want to sing something else.
The unicorn took a moment to pause, glancing over the still form of a bird. He had been old, and probably had chosen to stay the winter rather than take the tiresome flight further south, closer to warmth. For a moment... she wished. But unicorns were not that powerful. They couldn't raise the dead... only halt the progression.

Jean-Claude heard the mare before he saw her. His jaw dropped, or would have if it hadnt been frozen in place. Walking over to her, his feet like hammers hitting the cold hard ground.
"Well Bonjour."
He said, offering a kind eye.

She smiled politely as the stallion came into view and offered a greeting. "Bon joor." she greeted back. Mutilating the word, but she tried. "And hello." she glanced up at the tree above as a branch broke, and a drop of snow started falling; she sidestepped neatly. "It's a lovely night, isn't it?"

He gave a smile, offering a little bow.
A beautiful night? Yes. The snow would be better off gone though, but by her markings, she looked like the woodlands covered with snow. He had never seen such a beautiful mare.
"Beautiful? Yes. Very." He smiled.
Her attempt at BonJour made him give a small laugh. Shrugging his shoulders, hey, at least she tried.
"My name is Jean-Claude, ma cherie, and what is your name? Surely something as exotic as you, has a name to fit the owner."

She tilted her head, watching him silently for a moment. "My name is Feryal." her voice was cool, but her eyes were curious as she looked over at him. He seemed... pleasant. A lovely dark mane. And an interesting almost... glowy-burn in an odd shape on his chest, like she'd heard that paleskins bowed to. She dipped her head in response to his bow with a smile.

"Feryal. My yes. Why you do have a name as exotic as you are. It suits you well. And might I add that it is a lovely name." He said.
His eyes were light, and he seemed happy enough. He hoped she'd seen that he was being genuine in his quest for friendship, and maybe more someday. So many mares saw him as something that was flitty, and they would turn away.

She smiled faintly. "Thank you, Jean-Claude." She didn't quite know how to respond to him... she'd never really, truly... met another Soquili without the added influence of one of those she lived with. She couldn't keep the curiosity back though, as she eyed him. What kind of a soquili was he? "So, what brings you out this late, and this far into the chill?"

He gave his own, gallic shrug. If what he was doing was considered a shrug. No other motion could describe what he had done.
"I am out because the night is beautiful, and I find the sun hurts my eyes. But this far out in the chill? Well, I am desperate to get out of it. It is a nasty bit of trouble. I dare say I despise the cold bleakness."

She smiled. "A shame. I don't find it bleak at all." her nose dipped to the ground, touched the chill whiteness that remained. "I think it's beautiful. Like a blanket, covering up the promise that lies underneath, hiding it until spring. Is that too idealistic?"
