((Pictures will come later. Too much hassle sweatdrop )) [edit] MS-06A Zaku II The MS-06A Zaku II Early-Type.The MS-06A Zaku II was the first production Zaku II produced in U.C. 0077 by the Principality of Zeon. The MS-06A was deemed insufficient to meet the expectations of Kycilia Zabi, the director in charge of the Zaku II project. The designers went back to the drawing board and, a few months later, they came back with the MS-06C design.
[edit] MS-06C Zaku II The MS-06C Zaku II was deemed a success and put into mass production for the Zeon Military Forces. It was deployed in January U.C. 0078 and was the Zeon's main mobile suit at the outbreak of the One Year War. The C-Type, and later Zaku and non-Zaku mobile suits, typically used a 120 mm drum-fed machine gun or a 280 mm bazooka. Later, a 90 mm machine gun became a common weapon among Zeon mobile suits. Zakus, prior to the Antarctic Treaty, were also issued nuclear bazookas (which bear a remakable similarity to the design later used for the Federation's Gundam GP-02) and lightweight nerve gas guns, which they used to devastating effect in the One Week War.
Several pilots became famous for their actions inside the cockpit of the MS-06C Zaku II. In the Battle of Loum, Lieutenant Jr. Grade Char Aznable destroyed 5 of the Earth Federation's Magellan-class battleships in his red-painted C-Type Zaku II, earning him the nickname "Red Comet". The infamous Black Tri-Stars: Gaia, Ortega, and Mash, used their C-Type Zaku II's to capture the Federation's General Revil after crippling his Magellan Battleship Ananke during the Battle of Loum. Chief Petty Officer Johnny Ridden, earned his nickname "Crimson Lighting" after sinking 3 Magellan Battleships. Lastly, The "White Wolf of Solomon" Private 1st Class Shin Matsunaga was promoted to Lieutenant Jr. Grade after destroying a Magellan-Class Battleship and 5 Salamis-Class Cruisers.
MS-06F Zaku II [edit] MS-06F Zaku II With the signing of the Antarctic Treaty, the Zaku II C-Type was upgraded into the MS-06F Zaku II. The C-Type had been heavily shielded and strongly armored to resist nuclear radiation, which had made it much heavier. However, since the Antarctic Treaty prohibited such weapons, the C-Type was removed of nuclear radiation shielding and designated the F-Type Zaku II. The F-Type would quickly become the definitive version of the Zaku II, and all future variants would begin from the F-type as a baseline.
The Principality of Zeon saw great potential within the unit for having it perform in various mission roles. The Zeon Military forces produced successful designs, decent designs, and utter failures from the basic Zaku II design. Vice Admiral Dozle Zabi had his own custom Zaku II, which he took out into the Battle of Loum. His MS-06F Zaku II had ornate engravings and markings, double shoulder spiked armor, and lastly, a gigantic Heat Hawk. Even the youngest Zabi son, Garma Zabi had his own Zaku II, the MS-06Fs Zaku II. This slight variation of the Zaku II designed featured twin 40 mm Vulcan guns. However, he is not known to have used it in battle.
The Zaku II was eventually replaced by the MS-07B Gouf for ground combat. With the debut of the MS-09 Dom and the MS-09R Rick Dom, the Zaku II was largely regarded as obsolete and the MS-09 became the new frontline mobile suit. Lastly, the MS-14A Gelgoog had all but sealed the Zaku II's fate due its high-performance and ability to use beam weaponry. However, despite the fact that Zeon had developed more powerful mobile suits, they also produced several variations of the Zaku II as the war continued. This is sometimes justified by describing the Zaku as being easier to pilot than other, more powerful mobile suits.
[edit] MS-06F2 Zaku II F2 Type The MS-06F2 Zaku II F2 Type was an upgraded and improved version of the original MS-06F Zaku II, introduced in the middle of the One Year War because the original F-Type Zaku II was becoming outdated with the newer, more powerful Zaku variants, and later the more efficient MS-09 Dom and MS-14A Gelgoog mobile suit lines.
The F2 Type featured a slightly (approx. 4%) more powerful Minovsky fusion reactor than the standard Zaku. The Zeon's new Zaku II F2 Type had more armor placed around the cockpit's exterior, making projectile weapon attacks less effective at hitting the inner cockpit and reactor inside the torso. The F2 Type was also made significantly lighter in weight, which made the mobile suit much more fuel efficient. Because of this, the F2 Type had a greater operational time. The Zaku II F2 Type could also be outfitted with a pair of solid rocket boosters on its backpack that could give it a brief but tremendous increase in overall thruster output. The overall combination of a more powerful reactor and less weight made the F2 Type a more agile and maneuverable combatant. With these upgrades, the F2 Type would also be on a more equal ground when the Earth Federation began to field their first mass production mobile suit, the RGM-79 GM.
Many of the older F-Types were retrofitted into the improved F2 Type because of the cost effectiveness in doing so. The MS-06F2 Zaku II F2 Type served until the war ended in U.C. 0080. Zaku II F2 Types were used extensively by the Delaz Fleet during Operation Stardust in UC 0083. A few of the units even fell into the Federation's hands and were used for pilot training squads. After Operation Stardust, many of the F2 Types were retired and went out of service.
[edit] MS-06FZ Zaku II Kai Developed very late during the One Year War as part of the "United Maintenance Plan", the MS-06FZ Zaku II Kai ("Kai" is Japanese Kanji character "改". In English means "Modified".) was an improved and redesigned version of the Zaku II. The United Maintenance Plan was an effort by the Zeon military to simplify the production of their different types of mobile suits by standardizing parts and systems where possible.
The MS-06FZ Zaku II Kai featured greater acceleration and a redesigned and improved cockpit. It also had the option of two different "helmet" designs. The "A-Type" helmet, which was the more common design, was similar to the typical helmet of the Zaku II series. The "B-Type" helmet was modeled after the Stahlhelm helmet used by the German army in World War II. The Zaku II Kai's main improvement came from its greatly increased thruster acceleration and overall improved maneuverability. However, this also meant that due to increased fuel consumption the unit's operational time was shorter: about 50% of that of the original Zaku II. It also used a titanium and ceramic composite armor rather than the super high-tensile steel armor of the original Zaku, which proved more resistant to both regular ballistics and beam weapons. In addition, it was lighter than the previous armor, leaving more space for fuel, thrusters and additional equipment.
Finally, its weapons were upgraded. The Zaku Kai featured a new 90 mm machine gun, the MMP-80. Although the MMP-80 fired shells of smaller caliber than the standard 120 mm MMP-78 weapon used by standard Zakus, it had a higher penetration and an improved firing rate. The machine gun itself was also equipped with a grenade launcher, which despite being a one-shot weapon, proved to be highly effective. Additionally, the Zaku Kai had a new grenade rack on its right hip in which three cylindrical grenades could be stored for convenient access. (The Zaku Kai's grenades were more compact than the "cracker" grenades used by the original Zaku - their comparative effectiveness is unknown.) Its Heat Hawk remained mostly the same as that used by other Zaku units. The Zaku Kai also could equip weapons used by other Zeon mobile suits, such as sturm fausts, which were a large-scale version of the Panzerfaust anti-tank weapon capable of destroying a mobile suit in a single shot.
Due to the MS-06FZ Zaku II Kai's late introduction into the One Year War, only a handful of the units were produced. Few, if any, of the mobile suits survived the war.
[edit] MS-06J Zaku II Ground Type The J-Type Zaku II was built specifically for operations on Earth and lacked the proper equipment to operate in space, unlike the F-Type which could do both. The J-Type model had all its vernier thrusters apart from the two main thrusters on its backpack removed. It also featured a slightly more powerful reactor to assist in its mobility under the full-gravity conditions of Earth. Lastly, it was also better insulated against its environment, and could be used in brief underwater operations. However, the J-Type Zaku II was eventually replaced by the better designed MS-07B Gouf and MS-09 Dom mobile suits.
[edit] MS-06K (MS-06J-12) Zaku Cannon The MS-06K Zaku Cannon was a mass production artillery test-type developed during the One Year War. The Zaku Cannon was developed out of the Zeon's MS-06J-12 Project, which was to build an anti-aircraft Zaku II unit. That project was scrapped when the Zeons learned of the Earth Federal Force's close-combat RX-78-2 Gundam and their mid-range fire support RX-77-2 Guncannon. Thus, the scope of the project changed from anti-aircraft mobile suit to an anti-mobile suit and mid-range support unit.
The MS-06K was based on the Zeon's highly successful MS-06F Zaku II design. This new model feeatured a powerful 180 mm cannon mounted on the right shoulder, the same cannon size as the Federation's RX-75-4 Guntank. The Zaku II K-Type could even be refitted with a MS-06J Zaku II Ground Type's standard backpack by removing the K-Type backpack and cannon. The Zaku Cannon also featured a 360 degree camera eye for improved vision and target acquisition. Lastly, the mobile suit had more powerful thrusters placed in its legs to overcome its increased mass. However, The Zaku Cannon suffered from poor balance due to the large cannon's recoil. This problem was significant enough to cancel its production by the Zeon Military Force after a production run of only nine units.
This wasn't the end of the Zaku Cannon though. In U.C. 0087, the Earth Federation picked up the designs. After the costly battle with the Delaz Fleet, the Federation's new and powerful mobile suits had been destroyed. They needed very cheap models to replace the advanced mobile suits that had been lost (the Titans taskforce was using up a great deal of the Federation's money for the military). Thus, the Federal Force filled their ranks with a few of the old Zeon designs, such as the MS-06K Zaku Cannon, to provide aid in their forces.
[edit] MSM-01 (MS-06M) Zaku Marine Type See MSM-01 Zaku Marine Type.
[edit] MS-06S Zaku II Commander Type Char Aznable's personal MS-06S Zaku II Commander Type with 280 mm Zaku Bazooka and Heat Hawk. The MS-06S Zaku II Commander Type looks very similar to the normal Zaku, so much so, that the Earth Federation can generally only tell the difference from color schemes most pilots apply to their units and the increased performance of this version.
The S-Type Zaku II features a squad-leader "antenna" that is mounted on the head on the Zaku II, which is used to designate squad-leaders or higher ranking pilots from other squad-members or lower ranking pilots. It also featured a more powerful Minovsky type ultracompact fusion reactor. In turn, the S-Type Zaku II had greater thrust and acceleration. This allowed them to move at speeds 30% faster than a normal Zaku II. This made it incredibly dangerous in the hands of the ace pilots it was handed out to, such as the "Red Comet" Char Aznable, who sank 5 Magellan-Class Battleships in the Battle of Loum.
[edit] Later Developments Although the original Zaku II was obsolete by the end of Zeon's war for independence, its design was frequently revisited in following conflicts; for instance, the RMS-106 Hi-Zack of the Gryps war, the AMX-011 Zaku III of the first Neo-Zeon war, (to a lesser extent) the AMS-119 Geara Doga of the second Neo-Zeon war and the OMS-06RF RF Zaku of the Mars Zeon Rebellion.
[edit] Variations Many of the following configurations never appeared in any actual animated form, but they are official Mobile Suit Variation.
[edit] MS-06D Zaku Desert Type During the One Year War the battle field shifted from space to Earth after the signing of the Antarctic Treaty. Because of Earth's many different terrains and environments, the Principality of Zeon had to adjust their mass production MS-06F Zaku II model to be more suitable in the varying climates.
Developed in the captured Earth Federation California Base, the MS-06D Zaku Desert Type, also known as the D-Type, was designed for Earth's desert and tropical regions. Early test units used a double antennae but when Zeon finalized the mobile suit for mass production, they dropped it down to a single antenna. They also repainted the Zakus to a more sandlike colour. The Zaku Desert Type featured several new features for its adaptation to the new climates. The biggest change was the replacement of the Zaku II's standard thruster jetpack with a heat-dissipating radiator backpack. The D-Type was thus fitted with jet thrusters in the legs and skirt armor so that it had a small boost in mobility.
The D-Type was a great success. Overall, 114 MS-06D Zaku Desert Types were produced, with 43 two-antennae types and 71 one-antenna types. The Zaku Desert Type was well suited for its environment and operated very effectively. The Zaku D-Type would dominate Zeon's Earth forces in North Africa and the Middle East for many months until it was replaced by the more mobile and powerful MS-09F/trop Dom Tropen. Eight years later, surviving units were still known to be in operation in the hands of Zeon forces operating in Africa.
[edit] MS-06G Zaku II Improved Ground Combat Type As the Zeonic Company developed the MS-07 Gouf ground combat mobile suit, they realized that one of its most useful features was the incorporation of thrusters in the legs to allow the unit to perform jet-assisted jumps. This new advance would be taken and applied to the old line of Zaku II Ground Type mobile suits. The retrofitted MS-06J Zaku II Ground Types which featured the additional leg thrusters and extra armor were referred to as Zaku II Improved Ground Combat Types (or G-Types for short), and proved to be much more mobile than a standard Zaku II Ground Type.
The MS-06E Zaku II Reconnaissance Type [edit] MS-06E Zaku Reconnaissance Type The MS-06E Zaku Reconnaissance Type, or just Zaku Recon Type for short, was designed for scouting and reconnaissance missions.
These Zaku Recon Types, also known as E-Types, mounted specialized cameras and sensor systems. The Zaku II's original monoeye was replaced with a higher powered, longer ranged monoeye that actually jutted out from the head. On the shoulders and front pelvic skirt armor were other sensors and camera. The E-Type also incorporated powerful thrusters in the chest for fast retreats. Along with the upgraded thrusters, it had more propellant storage capacity for long-range missions and a longer operational times. The Zaku Recon Type was completely unarmed, but held in its hands a small "camera gun" for recording its findings.
The MS-06E Zaku Reconnaissance Type was a good success for the Zeon Military Force. They were able to provide information from behind enemy lines and give the Zeonic forces good intel. Roughly 100 units were produced. Many of the Zaku II E-Types survived the One Year War and were later used by the Earth Federal Forces and the Titan taskforce. The RMS-119 EWAC Zack "Eye-Zack" could be considered a distant relative of the MS-06E Zaku Reconnaissance Type.
[edit] MS-06E-3 Zaku Flipper Of the one hundred or so MS-06E Zaku Reconnaissance Types that were built during the One Year War, a handful were further upgraded into the MS-06E-3 Zaku Flipper. The Zaku Flipper was designed to play the role of a reconnaissance and scouting unit. The Zaku Flipper mounted the highest performance thruster array of the MS-06S Zaku II Commander Type, giving it three times the speed of a standard MS-06 Zaku II, as well as two additional thrusters in the chest and larger capacity fuel tanks.
To properly fill its role as a scouting unit, the Zaku Flipper featured several external cameras in both of its shoulders and its front pelvic armor, as well as high-tech sensory equipment and sonars in its head. However, the Zaku Flipper's standard Zaku head was replaced by a more sophisticated design, with extra equipment on a swiveling pivot so it could quickly flip backwards without having to rotate the head, or move past the fins projecting up from behind the Zaku Flipper's shoulders.
The Zaku Flipper's most distinguishing feature was the six fin-like projections on its backpack. These six fins were directional laser and sonic sensors that had the quirky habit of making flapping and flipping motions as they moved to acquire and track objects. The flipping motions of the fins on the Zaku Flipper's backpack is what earned the unit the nickname "Flipper" amongst the Zeon ranks.
[edit] MS-06F (Stutzer version) MS-06F Zaku II "Stutzer"After the One Year War, the remnants of the Zeon forces upgraded their Zaku II units to this MS-06F Zaku II "Stutzer" configuration to counter the Titans' new machines, as Zeon no longer had any production capabilities for any new mobile suit designs. The Zaku II "Stutzer" was enhanced with winch units, which were able to launch wire-guided arm parts that could entangle enemy machines with wire, or throw hand grenades at them while the mobile suit itself remained hidden. Additionally, the Stutzer mounted the Gelgoog's beam rifle, which was powered by an auxiliary generator on its back.
[edit] MS-06F (MS-06H) Zaku Minelayer The Zaku Minelayer is not a new mobile suit per se, but actually just a standard MS-06F Zaku II equipped with a different style backpack.
With this new backpack, the Zaku II is adapted to play the role of a mine-laying unit. The new backpack houses several drums filled with space mines, with twelve mines packed into every drum. The backpack also has a few additional maneuvering thrusters and carries five times the amount of fuel of a standard Zaku II. However, the Zaku Minelayer requires a special loading area on a Musai to reload, launch, or land.
MS-06F Zaku II Dozle Zabi Custom [edit] MS-06F Zaku II Dozle Zabi Custom This was the customized MS-06F designed for Vice Admiral Dozle Zabi, the commander of the Zeon's Space Attack Force, which Dozle used for his infamous frontline "inspections". It is similar to the standard MS-06F Zaku II, but with a spiked shoulder armor on both arms, ornate gold engravings and trim all over its frame, and a special large heat tomahawk melee weapon. Also, due to Dozle Zabi's huge size, he had to have the cockpit specially enlarged.
[edit] MS-06FS Zaku II Garma Zabi Custom This was a limited edition MS-06Fs built for Captain Garma Zabi, commander of the Zeon's Earth Attack Force, similar to the standard MS-06F Zaku II, but with four 40 mm machineguns in the head for increased effectiveness in close combat.
When Garma Zabi was assigned to Earth, he brought his Zaku II Custom with him, however he rarely sortied with it after being assigned to a leadership role.
The MS-06R-1 Zaku II High Mobility Test Type [edit] MS-06RP/MS-06R-1/MS-06R-1A High Mobility Type Zaku II As the One Year War dragged on, the Zeon engineers strived to create a high-performance unit to replace their aging space fleet of MS-06F Zaku IIs, which were quickly being outclassed by the Earth Federation's new RGM-79 GM series of mobile suits. The first of the new improved units created was the MS-06RP Zaku II High Mobility Test Type. The Zaku II High Mobility Test Type added several thrusters around the edges of the leg armor, giving it greater speed, acceleration, and mobility, and larger propellant tanks which increased the unit's fuel storage capacity.
Only two of these prototype Zaku II High Mobility Test Type units would be constructed, and both of them would be piloted by Zeon ace pilot, and former Zeonic Company mobile suit developer, Elliot Lem. After Major Lem gave the new unit his personal approval, the MS-06RP underwent a few very minor modifications and was slated for mass-production as the MS-06R-1 Zaku II High Mobility Test Type.
A total of twenty-two MS-06R-1 Zaku II High Mobility Test Type were constructed and given to some of Zeon's notable ace pilots. One such unit was given to Shin Matsunaga, who earned the nickname the "White Wolf of Solomon" because of his exploits in his white Zaku II High Mobility Test Type around the asteroid fortress of Solomon.
Overall, the Zaku II High Mobility Test Type proved to be an incredibly popular design. With its increased armor and fuel capacity, the design was a vast improvement over the standard Zaku II.
After the successful release of the MS-06R-1 Zaku II High Mobility Test Type the Zeon engineers began to receive feedback from the pilots of the new units on ways the design of the mobile suit could be further improved upon. The new ideas were incorporated into the next release of the MS-06R-1A Zaku II High Mobility Type. The Zaku II High Mobility Type had some minor engine problems corrected, and the larger capacity propellant tanks were removed and replaced with exchangeable fuel cartridges, which were much quicker to reload and refuel.
A total of fifty-six Zaku II High Mobility Types would be constructed, with half of the existing Zaku II High Mobility Test Types upgraded to the R1-A model. The Zaku II High Mobility Type became a highly sought after unit by many notable ace pilots such as the Black Tri-Stars, Eric Mansfield, Masaya Nakagawa, and Shin Matsunaga. But despite its incredible popularity and high performance, the suit was considered too difficult for rookie pilots to handle, as well as too expensive for a mass production run.
The MS-06RD-4 High Mobility Type Zaku II. [edit] MS-06RD-4 High Mobility Type Zaku II The MS-06RD-4 Zaku II Prototype was created by the Zimmand Company by modifying a standard MS-06F Zaku II. It was given the wider legs and added thrusters of the MS-09 Dom. The unit was used to simulate the characteristics of the MS-09 Dom for testing its combat performance in space. Only one unit was constructed. During a test flight on 6 October 0079, it engaged and destroyed a team of early-model GMs, only to be destroyed itself by an RB-79K ball. Data from the test unit survived, however, as the pilot managed to take the data disks from the MS before it exploded, and shortly after was recovered by a Zeon search team.
In preparations to adapt their ground-breaking MS-09 Dom mobile suit for use in space combat, the Zimmad Company decided to field test their new rocket thruster arrays designed for the MS-09R Rick Dom, which was currently in development. Zimmad took a standard MS-06F Zaku II, modified the waist armor area, and attached a larger pair of legs equipped with several new thrusters, renaming the unit the MS-06RD-4 Zaku II Prototype.
The Zaku II Prototype was constructed at Zeon's Granada facility on the moon. It was assigned to test-pilot Aina Sahalin, and was taken for its first flight on October 6th, Universal Century 0079. However, the Zaku II Prototype and its escort units came under attack from an Earth Federation Forces squadron. One of the Zaku II Prototype's escort units was destroyed, and all of the Federation units were destroyed with the exception of one RGM-79[E] GM Type-E, piloted by Terry Sanders Jr..
The Zaku II Prototype attempted to pursue the GM Type-E and was able to slightly damage it, but Aina was separated from her remaining Zaku II escort. Out of ammunition, the GM Type-E sent out a distress signal, which was picked up by a passing Federation shuttle. The shuttle sent out a RB-79K Ball K Type, piloted by Shiro Amada, to attempt to help the GM Type-E. Astonishingly, Shiro was able to severely damage the Zaku II Prototype, but his Ball K Type was critically damaged in the process and both he and Aina were forced to bail out of their respective units before they both exploded.
Although the Zaku II Prototype was destroyed, Aina Sahalin was able to escape with the test-flight data of the unit before it exploded. This was a great boon to the Zimmad Company, who immediately put the information to good use fine-tuning their Rick Doms.
[edit] MS-06V Zaku Tank As the One Year War dragged on, the Zeon forces found themselves in desperate need of replacement parts for their mobile suits and other weapons. Forced to salvage whatever they could, inoperable machines were often disassembled for use as replacement parts, new unit designs cobbled together from whatever was available in order to get more combat units to the field. One of the most common variations was the MS-06V Zaku Tank, created from mounting a Zaku torso, head and arms on the drive base of a Magella attack tank. These units were prized by field commanders starved for replacement mobile suits, and were used for both construction and combat. After the end of the war, many captured Zaku Tanks were employed at Earth Federation Forces bases across Earth, particularly at the Jaburo military headquarters in South America.
[edit] MS-06W Worker Zaku The Worker Zaku was a variant on the traditional Zaku design designed exclusively for labor. The unit's cockpit was modified and constructed from the cockpit of a standard construction vehicle, allowing someone without the military training needed to operate a Regular Zaku to pilot the suit. The suit's left arm had a winch, and the right had a shovel. The suits were fielded in western Asia, until the production was moved towards the MS-06V, which used most of the same parts as the MS-06W.
[edit] MS-06Z-3 Psycommu System Zaku MS-06Z-3 Psycommu System ZakuThe MS-06Z Psycommu System Zaku was the final Zaku variant developed under the MS-16X(Bishop) plan. Three test units were created, but the plan was halted due to a fatal flaw. The suit's incredibly high energy consumption meant that they could only fight for a maximum of 10 minutes. The wire-guided forearms with beam cannons mounted in each of the fingers were almost identical to the ones that would later be implemented in the MSN-02 Zeong. Additionally, the suit's unique weaponry, psycommu system, and additional apogee thrusters brought the price of the suit up to the equivalent of several Zaku IIs.

Nowhere Man to the rescue! Let's clean up some of these mini-profiles! Quote: Zakus, prior to the Antarctic Treaty, were also issued nuclear bazookas (which bear a remakable similarity to the design later used for the Federation's Gundam GP-02) and lightweight nerve gas guns, which they used to devastating effect in the One Week War. Are you basing this claim off of the Atomic Bazooka that comes with the Zeonography of Ramba Ral's Zaku I? That's the only place we see such a Bazooka on a Zeon Mobile Suit. Otherwise, it's always been said that the standard 280mm Zaku Bazooka was designed to fire nuclear warheads. For the record, however, the Mark-82 nuclear warhead used by the RX-78GP02 Gundam "Physalis" is no ordinary warhead by any means. Maybe both the Bazooka on Ramba's Zaku I and the Bazooka on the Physalis were made to fire these special, incredibly destructive types. wink Quote: With the signing of the Antarctic Treaty, the Zaku II C-Type was upgraded into the MS-06F Zaku II. The C-Type had been heavily shielded and strongly armored to resist nuclear radiation, which had made it much heavier. However, since the Antarctic Treaty prohibited such weapons, the C-Type was removed of nuclear radiation shielding and designated the F-Type Zaku II. Actually, this claim has generally been discarded. While EB 1 claims this is the case, the MSV books and Master Grade manuals say no such thing, and indicate that production of the F-type began before the war ever started. In fact, as of the start of the One Year War (the One Week Battle), there were only 84 MS-06A Zaku IIs and 236 MS-06C Zaku IIs--for a combined total of 320 units--while there were almost 800 units of the MS-06F Zaku II. Quote: The Zaku II was eventually replaced by the MS-07B Gouf for ground combat. This never happened: there weren't near enough MS-07 Goufs to completely phase out the MS-06F and the MS-06J on Earth. Quote: With the debut of the MS-09 Dom and the MS-09R Rick Dom, the Zaku II was largely regarded as obsolete and the MS-09 became the new frontline mobile suit. Same thing here. The MS-09 Dom and its varients weren't created in great enough numbers to phase out the Zaku IIs on Earth, or even to be readily available to all theatres. In space, by contrast, Zeon rolled out enough MS-R09 Rick Doms to be a hefty force, with the best estimates indicating that Granada rolled out some 600 MS-R09 Rick Doms by the end of the One Year War. Quote: Developed very late during the One Year War as part of the "United Maintenance Plan", the MS-06FZ Zaku II Kai ("Kai" is Japanese Kanji character "改". In English means "Modified".) was an improved and redesigned version of the Zaku II. The United Maintenance Plan was an effort by the Zeon military to simplify the production of their different types of mobile suits by standardizing parts and systems where possible. ... Due to the MS-06FZ Zaku II Kai's late introduction into the One Year War, only a handful of the units were produced. The MS-06FZ Zaku IIs are just as the name suggest: "modified." These units were created simply by modifying existing MS-06F Zaku IIs under the United Maintenance Plan. Quote: However, the J-Type Zaku II was eventually replaced by the better designed MS-07B Gouf and MS-09 Dom mobile suits. As I said before, they were outdated, but they were never replaced: there were too few Doms and Goufs produced to accomplish that. wink Quote: However, The Zaku Cannon suffered from poor balance due to the large cannon's recoil. This problem was significant enough to cancel its production by the Zeon Military Force after a production run of only nine units. Though the MSV manuals stated that the California Base produced only nine MS-06K Zaku IIs, the sheer number of them that have been popping up everywhere from Southeast Asia to Australia makes me think that this nine-unit figure simply indicates what would become and initial production run: after all, the MS-06K Zaku Cannon company that Lieutenant Junior Grade Ian Graden takes command of at California Base of consists of these nine aforementioned units. wink Quote: MS-06S Zaku II Commander Type Char Aznable's personal MS-06S Zaku II Commander Type with 280 mm Zaku Bazooka and Heat Hawk. For the record, the MS-06S Zaku II Commander Type saw much heavier production than one might othwerwise believe: around a hundred units of the S-type were produced, including Char Aznable's personal machine. Of some of the more notable pilots (as MAHQ points out, to their credit): the Black Tri-Stars all piloted this varient, and Federation pilot Federico Czariano pilots a captured one of these in a battle against the YMT-05 Hidolfr. Quote: The Zaku D-Type would dominate Zeon's Earth forces in North Africa and the Middle East for many months until it was replaced by the more mobile and powerful MS-09F/trop Dom Tropen. Falls in the same category as the rest of the MS-09 Dom family: there simply weren't enough of them to replace the Zakus. Quote: The MS-06E Zaku Reconnaissance Type, or just Zaku Recon Type for short, was designed for scouting and reconnaissance missions. ... The MS-06E Zaku Reconnaissance Type was a good success for the Zeon Military Force. They were able to provide information from behind enemy lines and give the Zeonic forces good intel. Roughly 100 units were produced. Actually, the roughly hundred units of the MS-06E Zaku Reconnaissance Type were all converted from existing C-type and F-type Zaku IIs. Quote: Of the one hundred or so MS-06E Zaku Reconnaissance Types that were built during the One Year War, a handful were further upgraded into the MS-06E-3 Zaku Flipper. Sixteen MS-06E units were upgraded to the MS-06E-3 Zaku Flipper, so these, too, were simply converted from existing F-types and C-types. Quote: This was a limited edition MS-06Fs built for Captain Garma Zabi, commander of the Zeon's Earth Attack Force, similar to the standard MS-06F Zaku II, but with four 40 mm machineguns in the head for increased effectiveness in close combat. The MS-06Fs Zaku II seems to be a sub-varient of the MS-06F Zaku II, and we know of one other person who pilots one: Commander Gabby Hazard. Quote: As the One Year War dragged on, the Zeon engineers strived to create a high-performance unit to replace their aging space fleet of MS-06F Zaku IIs, which were quickly being outclassed by the Earth Federation's new RGM-79 GM series of mobile suits. Actually, the MS-06RP Zaku II High Mobility Test Type appeared long before the introduction of the RGM-79 GM. Quote: MS-06Z-3 Psycommu System Zaku The MS-06Z Psycommu System Zaku was the final Zaku variant developed under the MS-16X(Bishop) plan. There is no MS-06Z-3 Psycommu System Zaku: it's simply a regularly made typo. There is, however, the MS-06Z Psycommu System Zaku, which fits your description. wink Quote: MS-06E-2 Zaku Reconnaissance Type There's no indication that this varient ever saw the light of day: in fact, the only reason people assume it exists is that there is a noticable gap between the numbering of the E-type and the E-3-type. Quote: MS-06MP Manipulation System Type Zaku II This was simply a variation created by designer Kunio Okawara, and there is no indication that it exists within canon. Quote: MS-06MS Bulbs (Zaku II Monkey Special) Appears in Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam: Skull Heart. Quote: MS-06R-2P/MS-06R-2 High Mobility Type Zaku II There were four MS-06R-2 Zaku II High Mobility Types produced, and the MS-06R-2P is simply an early configuration of one of these machines. Zeonic's MS-06R-2 Zaku II High Mobility Type was trialed against Zimmad's MS-R09 Rick Dom for a military contract, and the MS-R09 won out. Three of these machines were said to have been placed into combat duty--in the hands of Lieutenant Commander Johnny Ridden, Commander Gabby Hazard, and Captain Robert Gilliam--and one was said to have been retained at Granada for testing purposes. However, Lieutenant Junior Grade Kurt Laswell also shows up with one of these machines in the new videogame Mobile Suit Gundam Spirits of Zeon, so someone has some explaining to do. It's possible that Laswell receives the fourth unit from Granada after Kycilia's folks have finished fiddling with it. Quote: MS-06Z-1 Psycommu System Zaku Simply the MS-06Z Psycommu System Zaku. No 1, 2, or 3 about it. Now, with all of that being said, I noticed that you basically copied and pasted all of the information found on Wikipedia. Very poor form. rolleyes Edit: I also just noticed that you've made more than one "archive." I'll help correct those later. mrgreen

Kayko Daemonia Once again, a lot of stuff to wtie and conflicting sources, kay? But, whatever, peaple should be aware of all the sides I guess... The problem is that you didn't type it: you took it wholesale from Wikipedia. wink It's true that quite a few sources conflict with each other, but there are some claims that are considered more accepted than others. If you have to go by anything, I'd say go by the most recent model kit manuals. If those don't give you enough information, start running with some of the reference sources, like Gundam Officials, the Zeon Military File, or the Entertainment Bibles.
