Angaza limped in a deep as he could into the graveyard, and collapsed, his broken leg by now nearly numb. He wouldn't have ventured into lion territory with just Schatz, but he was hyungry, and unlucky as far as finding dying animals. Desperation drove him out, and luckily, coming in, he had found a tasty rabbit. It would do for now.
For now, he had to tend to his leg. It hurt, and he was fairly sure it was broken, but he had no way to fix it. The bone wasn't poking out, but he had a feeling it wouldn't heal properly.
He was, in effect, going to be crippled. He knew it, and he knew damn well the others would mock him for it. Damn it! Why'd that lion have to jump on him?! This was why he made a shitty fighter. He was more brains, not brawn, or perhaps he wouldn't be injured...
How close to hyena property was he, anyhow? He had to be close. The hyena grumbled, sitting up some. They'd mock him for sure. If he was close enough to flee, he would...
How could this get any worse?!

Amleth dragged her kill home happily. She was in high spirits. Finally the cubs were old enough to be cared for by Duhushi while she went out hunting. The hyena-marked lioness had been lucky, too, bringing down a small gazelle that had gotten seperated from its herd. This would certainly be a welcome break from the scrawny rabbits and mice that she had been eating lately.
Her ears perked up, and as she took her attention off of the gazelle, she spotted Angaza limping along. She tilted her head. A hyena? Well.. it was hurt, but the looks of it, so it probably wouldn't come after her if it was smart. Still, they had been known to steal kills.
She growled in warning, trying to make herself look as big as possible to discourage any attacks.

GODS DAMNIT. Angaza's ears flickered towards the noise, and he growled back, narrowing his eyes.
"What? More? And have you come to fight as well? Or just mock me?"
The Hyena snarled. He was in no mood for another fight.

Amleth dropped the gazelle carefully, eyes narrowed at him suspiciously. "I won't attack you if you don't attack me," she said finally, nodding towards the carcass she'd been dragging. "I have more important things to take care of. You ought to have that leg looked at, though," she added, picking the gazelle back up and beginning to drag it towards her den. It was still a ways off. It didn't occur to her that the hyena would be stupid enough to try and follow her, but if he did... well, she and Duhushi could chase him off.

"Hmph." Angaza turned to trot away when the broken leg wobbled, and gave. The Hyena reached with a feral scream as he fell, and snarled at noone.
"GODS DAMNED ORANGE LION!!!!"

Amleth winced as the hyena screeched his curse, and dropped her kill in surprise. Sighing, she glanced back over her shoulder at him. Hyena or not, he was in fairly bad shape. She hesitated, shifting her weight from one paw to the other for a moment, then picked the gazelle back up with resignation and padded back over to Angaza, a few feet away in case he decided to try to bite.
"What orange lion?" She asked cautiously, keeping the gazelle between herself and the hyena. "What happened to your leg?"

"YOUR kind." Angaza huffed. "Excuse ME for starving. One does when what must to live."
He didn't push it, but he remained down, lcurling a bit to try licking his leg.

Amleth rolled her eyes, but felt a pang of pity for the mangy creature before her. "My kind, huh," she repeated, watching as he tried to clean his leg.
Starving? Amleth eyed the gazelle in front of her and sighed. She stood and ripped a haunch from the beast and tossed it to the hyena, sitting back and waiting for the response.

....Angaza tried to look menacing... Till she threw him food. And then he looked perplexed, taking it closer slowly. What was with THIS lion?
Confusion wrote itself on his face. If Mafa heard about this...
"....What's this for?"

"You said you were starving," Amleth said slowly, still watching him. "This is more than enough for my family and I." the lioness added, indicating the remaining gazelle.
She waited, still staring hard to make sure he didn't try anything, then relaxed a little bit, curling her tail around her forepaws. "You should eat."

"....Thanks."
Angaza dug in. Sure, rabbit was good, but this was more food. Finally, he could eat! After a few minutes of munching, he licked his chops, looking up.
"You know it's not safe here, right?"

Amleth watched him as he ate, expressionless. At his question, she couldn't help grinning.
"I live here," she replied, sounding amused. "Well, not HERE. A little closer to the edge. It's quite nice actually, in my opinion," she added, tailtip waving a bit as she thought about the other places she'd been. Sure, they were all brighter and less dusty, but the graveyard felt like home.

"I don't mean that." Angaza rose up.
"I'm a pretty dirty b*****d. I'm not above eating a cub if I'm hungry. Don't think I'm a NICE b*****d, though, I've never done it. Tried, failed. Got my leg screwed. But the rest of this pack..."
He snorted.
"They'd kill me and you. Me, for accepting help. You... For being a lion."

"Think of it as preventive matienence," Amleth retorted, tensing up a bit as he stood. "You're not hungry, you don't try to kill cubs. Make perfect sense."
She narrowed her eyes. "And don't think there aren't other lions here. I am a part of the Maziko Pride," she informed him, ears folding back. "I'm quite sure they'd be just as willing to kill hyenas as you apparently are to kill lions." She picked up the rest of the gazelle and, giving him one last calculating look, began to pad off in the direction of her den.

".....I'm not going to kill a lion for no damn good reason. And I owe you for your help. I'm a b*****d, not dishonourable." The hyena frowned, eating at his gazelle leg some more.
"The others... Not so lucky."
