Wandering seemed to be his hobby these days, he reflected, as he shifted his wings idly. The cool, crisp air gave him an oddly warm, calming feeling, perhaps the reason being he had emerged from a cooler climate. His Clan, or what they liked to call themselves, the Scarlet-Flame Tribe (though he knew not why; probably to sound both rediculous and frightening at the same time, to be considered a myth... that old fool, his master Lucarios, was probably the one who came up with the ingenius name), had the issue for staying hidden from the world.
Creatures of death, bloodlust, and murder mingled together under the rule of Lucarios Kien, who was the one who had taught Windflame everything. Banned for something that he found ironically idiotic, he now wandered the lands in search for the one mare who had been the cause of his exile. He still had yet to find her, and although he knew it would take some time before he found the one, he would have to just bear this punishment and continue forth. Of course, he just hoped no other creature was around should he be forced into his bloodlust, the wanting of blood that no Kalona could not resist; such was their gift, such was their curse. He could do nothing to refuse its call, though that was the reason he trained hard and long, to have control.

Wandering seemed to be the pastime for the day. However, in the case of the somewhat lanky mare, that particular pastime had worn out it's welcome. As it was, Ladius lay curled up in the tall grass, her nose nestled between her forelegs and an ear twitching periodically at the insects that seemed to think a sleeping Soquili was something to harrass. Perhaps if she'd been awake, she would have been more annoyed at the bothersome insects than she actually was.
But as things stood, all that mattered to the mare at the moment was the chance to grab a nice doze.

As he walked, he nearly tripped over a dozing mare, and frowned at this obstruction in his way. An apology still fell from his lips however, for his childhood teachings always kicked in. "Apologies, small one, for this one's foolishness. Thou art unhurt?" he dearly hoped he hadn't been stupid enough to hurt the mare with his sharp hooves, but he doubted she'd been hurt too badly.

It was entirely possible that Ladius might have just slept through the whole incident, being kicked or no; after all, she was rather used to getting clipped and injured due to her rather rough and tumble lifestyle. No, what drew her attention and snapped her out of her drowsy reclination was the tone she was addressed in, to say nothing of the words. Small one? SMALL ONE????
Turning her head to take a good look at the patronizing stallion who had so rudely insulted her, Ladius rose to her feet with icy cold dignity, her eyes flashing with anger but her demeanor polished. "I'm fine. It would take a great deal more than a little prod like that to hurt me. Good day to you, and don't keep yourself around on my part." As soon as she finished speaking, she turned her head away from the kalona, her attitude one of complete dismissal. Though she sported a bloody slice across her side where she'd been kicked, she took no notice; no, all that mattered was her wounded pride at being belittle by a COMPLETE STRANGER!

Were he any other Kalona but himself, he knew other Kalona would not apologize, would not ask if the other was hurt, and would smirk, laugh, and then attack the mare for the angered, insulting way she had just addressed him. Fortunately for the mare, Windflame was no such blaggard with impulsiveness, and all he merely did was eye the mare who had was huffing indignantly. "Little one, this one meant no insult to thee small one no more than little one. To be sure, thou art a full grown mare, but thou are fairly smaller in size compared to this one, yes?"
He tried to reason with her, hoping she wouldn't be too offended. "Thou art bleeding profusedly, mare." He sighed. All the mares he'd met so far, save Kanti, had all been uptight, scrutinizing, and or, like this mare, very rude. They all seemed to assume something that he himself was not very aware of; but then again, he analyzed things to the bare minimum detail so that not even the smallest mistake escaped his calculating mind. "This one apologizes, lady, but thou art a spitfire," he added wryly, somewhat amused. "If'th thou doth not find thyself a healing poultice or a healer, thou wilt surely die of infected wound!"

Oaf that he was, this stallion didn't seem to realize that he was making the situation even worse for himself by continuing to speak than he could have if he'd remained silent. The very audacity of him, continuing to speak to her in such a familiar and belittling fashion! Grr...
However, just because she practiced righteous indignation did not mean that she was a fool. Under normal circumstances she would have likely attacked him...but kalonas were a totally new thing. Not that excused him in any way, it just meant that rather than ripping into him she would simply TRY to ignore him.
Consequently, she simply turned and stalked off, giving no attention to what he was saying. If he wanted to paternize someone, fine. But she wouldn't hang around to listen.

He shook his head at the stubborn mare. Be that as it may, he was not one to persist if the other refused advice or help. Now, he merely watched as she stomped off, ignoring him--rude as it was--and obviously sulked. She did not forgive him even though he had apologized, and with how she was acting, it was beginning to grate on his nerves, his patience. Well, two could play at that game. Moving until he was under the tree the mare had previously laid under, he settled himself so that he could watch the sulking mare. It was amusing that the mare was loath to have anything to do with him. Stubborn twit, but amusing nonetheless. Red eyes watched her critically as she stalked away.

Her spot. He had taken HER spot, the insufferable blackguard! This was EXACTLY why Ladius disliked the majority of the male species, and she already disliked this one more than most. Damn it, if only she wasn't so practical she already would have lit into him for that bloody paternizing tone. What did he think he was, the benevolent parent figure of the meadow???
However, though she knew better to take on a kalona in a fight that didn't mean she was going to back off completely, not when SHE had been there first. Besides, wasn't he going somewhere? b*****d was probably just trying to tick her off. Still, she could keep her dignity.
After stalking off a goodly bit, she came up to the spring. She'd always loved the meadow's spring; it was so clear and sparkling, and cold as ice. Perfect for a swim on a hot day, or even a cold day, and definitely good for bathing a wound. Tossing back her braided mane, she splashed right into the water and submerged completely. Yeah, this was nice.

He shook his head, bemused at this female. For a mare who seemed very intelligent, she had quite a temper. He shrugged a batwing, and lounged. What did he care? If she chose to speak with him, she would. He would only observed her until then. She seemed to be trying to calm down... did he anger her? He wasn't really sure if he had, but he had refused his advice about getting help for that wound he'd accidentally inflicted. He should have been more watchful, but he had been concentrating. On what, now that he thought back, he didn't know. He couldn't remember; he just knew he'd been in deep thought about... something.

Doing her best to completely erase the insufferability of stallions in general and that kalona in specific from her mind, Ladius gave in to the sweet pleasure of swimming around in the chilled water of the spring, smiling at the invigorating feeling she got from the increased pumping of blood. She loved swimming, even up to the point where she would break holes in the ice covering either spring, stream, lake, or river that she felt like taking a dip in.
At the moment, the water felt particularly nice on her injury, though she dismissed the severity even in her own head. She was a fighter, damnit; that meant that she was used to hard knocks, and one little cut wasn't worth getting up in arms about. She wasn't sure what he had been going on about with that 'infected wound' crap; like she didn't know how to treat an injury! The audacity of that stallion seemed to know no bounds.
However, that thought brought home the jarring realization that said kalona was still lying there, occupying her spot. Didn't he have somewhere to go??? stressed

It finally clicked in his mind that Windflame himself was the one causing the mare's upset, and his usual calm facade nearly died away due to the fact that his muzzle was twitching from amusement; he dearly wanted to laugh. He had taken her spot under the tree, hadn't he? Well, that was more her fault; anyone could claim this spot; the land was a free land, from what he could tell, so there were no territorial perks (which somewhat drove his crazy, as he was usually a territorial stallion) and as such, he didn't really give a care.
The mare seemed to enjoy herself swimming, however, and he shrugged a wing. If she preferred that to sleeping under this tree, then it was no fault of his for taking this spot. Besides, he found it entertaining to drive a hot-tempered mare like this one nuts because he'd never done that before. And as much as he found this enjoyable, he was beginning to feel bored with this as well. His attention only lasted so long, but his patience knew no bounds unless he was aggravated to the point that his patience was tried. Of course... "Thou shouldst calmth down," he called, red eyes twinkling with humor.

The chilly water had managed to soothe her injury and somewhat calm her nerves, but Ladius' keen sense of injustice was never satisfied to lie dormant when there was a threat to female empowerment around...particularly not one of this sort. And she was feeling relatively charitable, too; enough that she had come to the decision that THIS stallion would probably act insufferably towards stallions too...the b*****d. Bloody ego-complexes!
Climbing out of the water with dignity, Ladius proceded to shake herself off, the beaded braids in her mane and tail whipping about with the full energy of an annoyed mare. Having satisfied herself that she was no longer dripping, she turned enough to give the stallion a rather pointed stare. "I'll be as calm or as ruffled as I want to be, when I want to be, so you should just keep your inspired advice for some simp that actually cares. What the hell are you still doing here, anyway? Weren't you going somewhere?"

He surged to his feet, eyes narrowing. "Dost thou knowth that thou speakth with a Kalona? Perhaps thou doth know, but thou art acting foolish! This one offers thee help, and thou denies mine advice. This one doth not mindth thou to be ignorant of mine help, but thou art pushing this one." Her last words had gotten to him, where most of the time he would just ignore the implied insults and just return a few hidden ones himself. "Thou haveth a horrid mouth, little one," he said, smirking dangerously.
He moved away from under the tree and towards the smaller mare. "Shouldst thou not have a less filthy tongue? 'Tis any wonder thou art alone..." Not that he was any better, but at least he was polite. Damn bloody mare, who did she think she was? He sensed that she obviously hated him, and for no apparent reason of his did he see what he'd done to her to have her hate him. Too bad he couldn't read minds! "This one goth where this one pleases, just as thou doth proclaimed thou can be as calm or ruffled as thou wish," he said, smirking darkly as he returned a hidden insult with his words.

Perhaps it was foolish to provoke a kalona, but Ladius felt herself to be firmly in the right. Nevermind the fact that this one was acting even more assanine than she had been lead to believe that that particular breed acted.
Narrowing her eyes right back at the kalona, she stood her ground even as he headed towards her. "So, you've got pride and I wounded it, is that it? You think that I ought to fall down and kiss your bloody hooves just because you opened your mouth? Well listen, you, Kalona or no; you can be as god-damned worldly as you want, but if you want a mare around that will simper and bat her eyelashes at you in gratitude, then you're talking to the wrong one!"
To hell with this location, she was NOT going to deal with this bloody egomaniac any longer than she positively had too...starting now. Whipping her head around, she promptly turned and stalked off. He wanted to stay, fine; SHE would leave.

He paused at her words, and felt that the only way the mare could think clearly was to calm down or at least hear him yell right back at her, he held his tongue as he let her rant at him. He doubted she'd feel better about it, but her words stung on a level he didn't like. "Thou art foolish to say such words in such an assuming tone!" he snarled quietly, threateningly. He was no longer amused or entertained; this mare had really hit a sore spot. "Dost thou thinkth that this one preferth that kind of mare!? An idiotic mare like thou shouldst know better! Thou art clearly too behooved to truly try to understand others!!" He watched as she stalked off before turning in the opposite direction. He wasn't going to pursue her anymore than she would try to go after him for anything. Aggravating creature!
