The company christmas party was always an interesting affair. Generally because Reno could not resist the temptation to spike every drink available but this year the addition of a new Turk seemed to have caused a stir. The other employees were more than happy to meet the blond magician and many of the scientists wives were more than happy to fawn over him.
He was rather bored sipping on a glass of eggnog and talking to a buisness associate about something he wasn't really paying attention to.
Making sure the security was in place for the third time he wandered back though the crowd gathered in the large lounge.
"Nah, ya see ya just gotta do exactally what he wants, not what he says. Then he'll stop being as much of a b*****d, for a while at least" He had his arms around two younger women was was, most likely, regaling them of how he'd managed to not get fired all these years.
Rude was standing behind Rufus occasionally making a comment when a question was directed at him but generally just being the large shadow he usually was.

Kaleb felt like he was being pulled two ways as he slipped through the crowds and tried to find someone he recognised. On one hand, the place was fascinating to wander around in, all lit up with festive lights and glittering with decorations of gold and silver. There was so much to catch his eyes, but on the other hand, talking with the other employees made him nervous and he had a couple really fascinating new books in his apartment...
He caught sight of Reno and would have been tempted to join him, if he weren't still somewhat scarred from the women at the last social event he attended. Spotting Tseng next, his face lit up with relief and happiness as he made his way over.

He stopped to speak to an older aquantiance of Rufus' for a moment. The holidays were always good times for business and somehow the man thought Rufus would be more generous with his offers. If only the poor man knew.
"I'm afraid that you'd have to take that up with Rufus himself." A small smirk crossed his muzzle. "And he is booked until well after new years."

Kaleb didn't want to interrupt as he approached, but he didn't really have to worry about that since he got distracted by the decorations overhead. A string of clear, glittering snowflake decorations were reflecting the holiday lights in a fascinating manner, and the little mage couldn't help but stop to admire it for a bit.

Eventually the man got frustrated with Tseng's round about answers and wandered off. Most likely to find Rufus and hopefully con something out of him. Looking over at Kaleb he followed his gaze up to the decorations before he looked back at the blond.
"There are rather nice decorations this year"

Kaleb grinned lopsidedly, his eyes lingering on the snowflakes a moment longer before glancing at Tseng. "They are beautiful, I-I've never seen anything so extravagant." He had been amazed at the decorations since stepping through the front door, it seemed he couldn't go anywhere without seeing something else that caught his eye.

"Rufus is well known for throwing rather extravagant parties." Kaleb would be surprised at New years if this was a surprise. "Though i think some of the guests are far more interested in you than in the decorations"

Kaleb blinked and blushed a bit, and smiled sheepishly. "I-I don't think that's possible, the decorations are really nice." He fidgeted a bit, giving the string of snowflakes another glance.

"Ahh but you are new and interesting while decorations are something they see every year" He smirked at Kaleb but the expression fell as Reno leaned on his shoulder.
"Trying to scare the poor kid again? Didn't Rufus tell you not do that that." He grinned Tseng, completely ignoring the glare he was receiving.

Kaleb jumped as Reno leaned on him, he hadn't heard him coming at all over the general buzz of conversation. "H-hi, Reno," he said shyly, still blushing over Tseng's comment. The thought of having others notice him and be interested in him still scared the small mage somewhat, he would be thankful when the novelty wore off.

"I believe Rufus told you to stop trying to entice him with thins he doesn't understand. None of that has anything to do with me other than having to deal with you later."
"Aww come on, supose to be nice on holidays. Here, have some eggnog." He held a glass out in front of Kaleb.

Kaleb hesitantly took the glass with a timid thank you, but he didn't drink any yet as he listened to the discussion. He didn't know Rufus had talked to Reno about how he was or was not to be treated, but somehow he still didn't think Reno would adjust his behavior anyway.

"Nice has nothing to do with the rules." He eyed Reno.
"I've been good, promise."
"That is doubtful." He shook his head and tucked a strand of hair behind his headphones. "Kaleb ... be careful of whatever he hands you"

Kaleb took a sip of the eggnog while the two conversed, barely noting that it tasted a little... odd. Maybe that was just what expensive eggnog tasted like, if the decorations were so extravagant, certainly the drinks would be expensive. That was when he heard Tseng address him, and his eyes widened a bit. "Wh-why?" He asked, looking a little nervous.

"I would suspect Reno's put something in the eggnog that's not suppose to be there"
"Right, the eggnog gets spiked and everyone always suspects Reno." he grinned. "Sides it was only a shot or two and that's a pretty big bowl"
