I've only met one transgender person before but she was really nice. She's the biological father of one of the kids in my school and she came to talk to the GSA ^-^ it was very informative.

I met a really nice transgendered person in my psychology class last fall. She even brought photos of the surgery for the braver among us to peruse. It was strange to me that almost none of my classmates noted that she was... off... nor did they attribute it to the possibility that she was transgendered.

I found it! 3nodding (I've been searching for a transgender thread for a while.) Also, reviving it after about a year and a half... sorry if that's not allowed (?). Anyway, I've started trying to get my friends to whom I've come out to call me by a more gender neutral name (Jay, instead of Jenn). I eventually want to go by this completely, but it's kind of hard since not many people know and I'm not ready to talk to my parents. Anyone here have any experience with this, or even with the issue of pronouns? EDIT: Also, for anyone who may not be entirely familiar with trans-related terms, this is a good site that will at least give you a general idea. smile

Myself, I'm androgynous, mentally. I dress in clothing regardless of what others think, only based on what I want to wear. Also, I have no real preference when people call me a 'he' or a 'she'. Physically I'm male[Damn my facial hair!], but mentally I'm pretty much half-and-half. Leaning a bit towards female every now and then, though.

Physically I'm male[Damn my facial hair!], but mentally I'm pretty much half-and-half. Leaning a bit towards female every now and then, though. I'm pretty much half-and-half too, though I sometimes tend to lean one way or the other depending on the situation. I'm really not concerned with pronouns, but I do want the gender neutral name. And no, you didn't kill it. You're actually doing more of the "helping me make it live after a year and a half coma" sort of thing, I think.

well it's dead again after your post so....kidding... I consider myself a boy but I can't imagine myself ever having any surgryies.which I spelled wrong. and I still like to look pretty, and be effiminate.I hate the fact that all the transgendered men you see in the media are very manly, and macho. I want to be called 'he' and be seen as a 'pretty boy', you know? I don't think it makes me any less of a man, not being all hairy. When I move out [I'm seventeen]I plan on getting more masculine in my apperance. I already wear boy or gender neutral clothes that hide my chest. but I can't wait to start binding. which I've dabbled with, with ace bandages, but they just hurt, hellas bad.
sorry I'm done talking about myself, it's just none of my friends or family knows, this is the only chance I've had to talk.
