Listen up maggots, what you're going to do is you're going to click the link in my signature and read the journal entry. Then you're going to come back to this thread and answer this question: Can you dig it?

Your refrences to fiction I know nothing about in the begining confused me.

Are you trying to say the MPAA is too lax? sweatdrop

There must be something in other cultures that prevents kids from killing each other, something that the US lost somehow.

But it doesn't make sense why we lost it and no one else did.

Few things in life ever make sense, unfortunately.

If you want my honest opinion, Morality was lost because it was allowed to be taken away by the "politically correct" and the Modernists. (well ... maybe not the Modernists ... the "philosophy" that believes that nothing is wrong and that people should do what is right in their own eyes)

No ... Daoism has a center that dictates right from wrong (The Way) but it must be sought through meditation and the wanting of nothing. (granted, the center is very ambiguous and indirect, whereas most other philosophies have a more direct center, such as Buddhism and Christianity) The philosophy I'm thinking of seems to believe in no center, that there is nothing that dictates except the individual. Rome had this ideal (among many others) but it died at the fall of Rome, but has only recently been made "popular" again.

The Chinese are also very dedicated, to country, to family, to others, and to the self. The priority list is different and is taught distinctly by not just the family. America has seemed to grow lazy in this aspect, with the family not being the main teaching center of the next generation.

I am very glad to see a disscussion about Fight Club. It is a very manly film and I enjoy it very much. Sadly I could not find the book, I am suspicious that a certain government group would have the book ripped from shelves. I will not devulge their name here.

I feel a great need to check out Battle Royale.

What I have to say is this; To me, Fight Club illustrates the reason why man would turn to senceless violence. To feel.

I know it sounds silly, but how come so many angsty thirteen year old girls threaten suicide?

From checking their live journals, this phrase is used the most often, it often has variations.

Quote:
I don't feel anything.

In my opinion, men arn't as wimpy to turn to killing themselves, suicide is a greatly cowardly and selfish thing, if one is to threaten suicide, I would not give them any sympathy. The pain they have is often brought on themselves and their misintereptation on the words and actions of others, or their lack of interest in doing anything to change their current state.

Back on the subject, yes, America has lost its sence of morality. Most sitcoms before 1998 didn't contain the word damn, when I change the channel to ABC I often hear the word, "b***h" and/or "a**".

With Battle Royale, I don't see why they don't bring it here. There have been much more violent movies then anything Quentin Tarentino made. (Besides, the guy's a p***y compared to me). I think it has to do with the deeper monolouge (SP?) of Battle Royale. American consumer culture is about a subliminal controlling of the consumer. I know it sounds like it came out of Conspiracy Theory but it's true. Anything that can awaken the free thought of Americans is a threat to the economy. That is why I think Battle Royale won't be seen on American screens.

Clara's got to disagree a little here. Sure, there are some people who are just angsty and disturbed and off themselves instead of getting help and dealing with s**t. There are even more people who threaten suicide just to get attention. But I do think there are times when a suicide attempt would be undestandable.

Clara also wants to see this Battle Royale, but she doubts that she can. Oh poo. sad

You DO know who you're talking to here right?

I make Rambo look like Barbie. mad

Ehhh.. There is reason why I feel that way, because my ex-girlfriend kept threatening suicide because she was....

xxxblackgothkittywitchxxx

I'm fat, I'm ugly, I'm stupid, and I'm crap!

After months and months of trying to cheer her up, give her advice, help her out, and actually do the "life changing" things for her, she kept doing it.

I'm so glad I dumped her. domokun Yeah, I know that doesn't justify much, but I steel feel the same way about that kinda crap, but this isn't really the place to discuss it.

Battle Royale won't be brought over because it's kids killing kids. The "why" doesn't matter. Parents will see that 'Suzie' is chopping 'Annie's' head off, and imediately say that the movie will corrupt our youth and drive them to such acts. Remember, it's all about "the health and safety of our children".

The book is way better anyway. It gets into the psychology of the situation(s) a lot more than the movie, and isn't bothered with pointless fan service like the manga.

I got mine in a Barnes and Noble... so I'd imagine any bookstore would have it.

Aw ******** and now I remember that I posted this. Sorry guys, you must think me an utter a*****e for asking for comments and not responding. sweatdrop The comment you brought up about needing violence to feel is a very interesting point SJL. The theme of not being able to feel was all over Fight Club, from Jack's inability to sleep to the popularity of the fight clubs to Marla's suicide attempt. Of course if you really want to see how ******** up America's "morals" are just look at all this Hot Coffee bullshit.
