Chapter 1
Title: Friends And Foes
Characters: Charlie, Claire, Sun, Boone, Shannon, Sayid, and Locke

Charlie Pace sat on the beach watching Claire write in her diary. She looked puzzled as if she didn't know what to write. She bit her lip and continued writing she sighed heavily as a cool calming wind passed by. Charlie focused his attention to Boone who was standing in front of the vast ocean. He scooped up the water, bits and pieces of sand floating in it and splashed it on his face. Hoping for refreshing cool water, it was nothing but warm, salty, rough water. Out of the corner of Charlie's eye, he saw Shannon storming towards Boone, Charlie rolled his eyes and had the same thought he always thinks when he sees Shannon with a smirk on her face walking to Boone. "Shannon, whats wrong now?!" Boone automatically started the fight. "Did i say anything?" Shannon snapped back and frowned. "Well i heard you stamping towards me what am i supposed to expect from you?" Boone questioned and walked passed her. Charlie stopped listening from there, it was the same stuff they always argued about, they argued about nothing.
Without awareness, Sayid was only sitting a few feet away from Charlie. He seemed to be looking at the same argument Charlie was. Only Sayid had a worried look on his face unlike Charlie who was annoyed at the moment from the constant bickering.
Shannon and Boone set off in different directions, Shannon went directly towards Sayid. "Something wrong Shannon?" Sayid asked as if he didn't know. Shannon shook her head, "No."
Charlie heard the sound of Claire giggling and turned towards her, she was talking to Boone. Charlie got up from his sitting position and walked towards Claire and Boone. "Something up?" Charlie asked putting his hands in his jacket pockets. He couldn't help but feel jealous everytime some guy would come up and talk to Claire, he was afraid he would be replaced with someone else. Claire looked at Charlie quizically and said, "Why would there be?" She was confused why Charlie always had to stand up and say something when she was just having a conversation with someone else. Boone felt a little awkward, he knew that Charlie and Claire were the best of friends and he didn't want to interfere with their relationship. "I gotta go, talk to you later." Boone said to Claire deciding to leave.
"What was with that Charlie?" Claire asked and frowned. "Well Boone never talks to you, i was just wondering if something was the matter." Charlie explained, he knew he should just tell her the truth, that he was jealous. "What i can't talk to anyone different?" Claire said a little annoyed, it was like Charlie just drove Boone away. "No, Claire! It's not that, i just you know want to protect you." Charlie continued explaining trying to think of something Claire would approve of. "From what?" Claire asked him, she really wasn't understanding what Charlie was getting at. "Why don't we go for a walk or something and just forget about this." Charlie replied hoping Claire would completly forget about the conversation and preventing any further argument.
Claire turned around and looked at Sun who was holding and taking care of Aaron for a while. "Alright." Claire said accepting Charlie's invitation and decided to ignore her and Charlie's weird conversation.
Locke was in his tent packing up to go to the hatch, Jack was waiting for him to come to take his shift. Boone walked into the tent and stood there watching Locke. Locke didn't look up to see who it was but knew it was Boone, "Hello Boone." He said and finally looked up and smiled. "Are you going to the hatch?" Boone asked him figuring he was since he was gathering his stuff. "Yup. That and hunting." Locke replied and zipped up his bag. "Hunting? I thought there was nothing to hunt." Boone said in confusion. "Oh theres always something out there Boone. Maybe some people are sick of all this Dharma initative food we are just giving out by the handfuls." Locke explained, he actually really wanted to hunt, he was tired of doing the same things.
"Can i come?" Boone asked eagerly, it seemed like he has been sitting on the beach for days. "Yeah, sure Boone. Follow me." Locke said and walked out of the tent, and into the jungle. They both felt immediate relief from the heat as soon as they walked into the jungle. The heat from the sun stopped beating on their sholders, it was like a different world. "So i saw you and your sister Shannon arguing before, everything alright?" Locke asked, he couldn't help but feel curious what they were actually arguing about all the time. "Eh it's just the same stuff. She complains about everything thats all." Boone said trying to shorten up all the stuff she talks about. "She complains? About what?" Locke asked questions as he peered around looking for any boar. "Nothing Locke." Boone said annoyed, he didn't know why Locke always had to be so nosy about it.

Chapter 2

Title: To Rethink
Characters: Shannon, Sayid, Boone and Kate

Shannon snuggled up with Sayid, they were sitting outside his tent. Shannon looked up into his eyes, but Sayid didn't look back he's been like this for the past five minutes. Shannon sat up straight away from the comfort of Sayid's arms. Her eyes were big and she said, "You okay?" She stared straight into his eyes for an answer.
Sayid seemed distracted, starting off at different things and looked back at Shannon. "Do you want to go for a walk?" Sayid asked, he was talking in a very serious deep tone of voice. He usually never talks that way with Shannon, she was automatically suspicous.
"Why?" Shannon asked, she brushed a few strands out of her hair she didn't understand why Sayid and her couldn't just talk where they were. "Sayid..." Shannon said after Sayid wasn't saying anything. "What did you want to talk about?" She asked with such curiousity. "Us." Sayid said almost immedietly and sat up straighter. Shannon stood up and frowned, she knew exactly what was comming, "You breaking up with me?" Shannon didn't ask she practically demanded. She was red in the face, she didn't blink Sayid became blurry in Shannon's eyes. "I think we need some space." Sayid try to break it to her easily. "What did he say?" Shannon said with long pauses between each word and closed her eyes. "Who?" Sayid asked even though he knew what she was talking about. "Don't play stupid Sayid, Boone? My brother? What the hell did he say to you?!" Shannon said now shouting, tears flowing down her cheeks. "Shannon, i just need space. It's for the best for us." Sayid said standing up wiping a tear from her cheek. Shannon jerked his hand away and turned around and wiped her own cheeks. And turned around but Sayid was already gone. He was carrying a bag of his belongings walking up the beach. "SAYID!!!" Shannon shouted as loud as she could, he didn't look back and kept walking. She crossed her arms she was red with anger the tears felt warm flowing down her cheeks she turned around and walked into their tent. All that was left was Shannon's stuff, she sat down on the chair in the corner of the tent and put her feet up on the edge of it and buried her head in her knees.
Boone was back at the beach now he gave up with Locke he was always asking him about Shannon, it wasn't worth the argument. Shannon looked behind her and saw Boone's shadow outside her tent. She raged with anger just at the sight on him, she jumped out of her chair and slowly peered outside of the tent, Boone was collecting firewood for himself. Shannon wanted to hurt him so bad, he was literally ruining her life. She waited until Boone turned around and slapped him in the face. Shocked Boone dropped his fire wood and put a hand to where she hit him, it was beating and red hot as if it was burning fire. He was afraid to look at Shannon but made himself do it. "Are you happy?" Shannon asked with raised eyebrows and a hand on her hip. Boone didn't answer and was still on the ground. Shannon grabbed the collar of his shirt and made him look into her eyes. "ARE YOU HAPPY?!" Shannon shouted this time and threw him back on the ground.
"What the hell Shannon?" Boone asked quietly still concentrated on the pain. "What the hell nothing Boone! What the hell did you say to Sayid?!" Shannon put her blonde hair behind her ears she wanted to hurt Boone more than just slap him. "I didn't say anything to him Shannon!" Boone sat up with his hand still on his right cheek, he slowly removed his hand to reveal a red splash on his face, which seemed like a everlasting scar. "Thats bull and you know it!" Shannon yelled back at him pushing him a little. She walked away in rage, talking to Boone wouldn't help he wouldn't say anything. She let out a cry of sadness and anger and screamed once she got in her tent.
Boone rolled his eyes and looked at everyone at the beach they were all looking back at him. He was embarassed and pretended like none of that happend and picked up the rest of the fire wood.
Kate who happend to be watching the whole time was about to break up the fight she was wondering if she should talk to Shannon, she already had a indication what they were arguing about. Once everyone stopped looking at Boone they talked to themselves about the whole incident. Kate was the only brave one to go near them, she stood at the front of Shannon's tent and rustled the tarp a little bit. "Shannon? Can i talk to you?" Kate asked she sighed and looked back at Boone who was looking at Kate, she quickly looked away. Kate was tired of waiting for a responce and walked in. Shannon was in the same position as she was before on the chair.
"Shannon, hun i want to talk to you." Kate said kneeling down trying to look at Shannon's eyes. "What is it?" Shannon asked weakly.
"Listen, um, i really think and this is just my opinion you shouldn't take your rage out on Boone anymore. I know your angry but you can't just take it out on other people. Everyone is starting to talk." Kate softly explained.

Chapter 3

Title: Anger Stikes
Characters: Sayid, Boone, Jack, Locke

Sayid walked on the beach, he felt as if all eyes were on him, he ignored it and kept walking. He wasn't even sure where he was going or what he was doing. All he knew was that he had reason to leave Shannon and he had to take Boone's word for it. He recalled the conversation he had with Boone before.
"Man listen, im telling you Shannon uses guys to get whatever it is she wants and let me tell you she's good at it." Boone explained as he watched Sayid break a coconut. "I know her, and love her why should i listen to you? Perharps it hurts you too much to see her with me?" Sayid suggested annoyed trying to break open a coconut, hitting it harder each time. "Thats not it Sayid, your not getting it. You have known her for what? 2 months? And you think you know every thing about her? Well you have a lot to learn." Boone said trying to pick up some argument. Sayid stopped hitting the coconut and layed it down next to him. "I have time. But it doesn't mean that i believe everything you say." Sayid said half curious about what Boone had to say, he wasn't sure whether to believe Boone or not, but he didn't want to take any chances. "Well there was this one guy, Charles real rich guy right? Shannon was out of a job, met this guy of course being mean to him until he offers her to go to dinner at this fancy resturant no one could afford. Of corse she says yes and does her little sweet talking her way telling him she was sorry for being mean. So they went out, he bought her anything she wanted. She hated the guy, real snot to everyone, Shannon hates people like that. And Sayid, thats only one instance." Boone said assuringly. Sayid rubbed his foreheard and put his arm on his knee. He believed Boone for once about Shannon, he couldn't have made up that story as we went along his rant. "So what are you suggesting i do Boone?" Sayid asked. Boone shook his head, "Best thing to do, dump her but don't tell her about this conversation." Sayid looked at Boone many questions still rang through his head, "What do you think she is using be for?" He asked. "Well your a good guy, she wants off this island your basically the only one that could do that. Im telling you man if we ever get rescused she'll dump you and it's going to hurt." Boone said to Sayid and picked up his bag and walked away.
Sayid refocused on what he was doing and stopped thinking about that conversation with Boone.

Jack sat in the hatch on the computer chair swinging back and forth he stared at the countdown clock impatiently, he sighed and tapped his fingers on the keyboard without pressing anything. He was waiting for Locke to resume his turn pushing the button. Without warning the hatch door swung open and Locke enterd in the hatch. "Morning!" Locke said happily pretending like he wasn't late for his shift. "You were supposed to be here 2 hours ago Locke." Jack said sprinting out of the computer chair and let it roll behind him. "Oh sorry Jack, won't happen again." Locke said grabbing the computer chair and rolling it back to the desk. Jack walked a few steps closer to Locke, "What were you doing?" Jack asked, he wanted to know. Locke remained silent for a moment and looked back up at Jack, "Hunting." Locke assured knowing Jack wouldn't believe him. "Hunting huh? What about all this John? This Dharma Initative mini mart?! Filled with FOOD!" Jack said walking towards the pantry, angry at Locke. "Some of us don't want this anymore." Locke calmy explained trying to make himself look like he was the better person making up more logical explainations. "Some of us huh?" Jack said and let out a fake chuckle. "Some of us meaning YOU?!" Jack said emphasizing the you.

Chapter 4

Title: Jealousy Is With Me
Characters: Kate, Jack, Sawyer, Claire, Sayid, and Hurley

Without saying a word, Jack stormed off as if he was in a rush even though he had nothing to do, his head throbbed from yelling at Locke sometimes he just couldn't handle what he had to say or what his opinions were because Jack always disagreed. Jack looked down at the damp dirty ground as he walked not paying attention where he was going, he began to walk faster towards the beach until something got in his way. He ran into it and fell backwards and his body reached the ground, he stared up straight into the sky and sat up slowly, braches of twigs were digging into his skin. Jack looked up, it was Kate who he ran into. She looked astonished that Jack would just run into her like that. She let out a hand to Jack offering to help him up. Jack grabbed her hand and stood up. "You okay?" Kate questioned and began resuming her berry picking.

"Yeah, yeah im fine." Jack replied putting his hands on his hips. "Well the fact that you ran into me without saying anything is telling me something is up." Kate replied a little suspicous, she always knew when something was bothering Jack. "It's just Locke, he's just... you know the usual with him." Jack explained, he didn't really want to get into the whole story. Kate slowly revealed a smile to Jack, "The usual huh? Well im going back to the beach now, if you want to walk with me you can." Kate said trying to lead on the fact she really wanted him to. "Yeah i'll come, i was going to the beach anyway." Jack said following Kate. "I think something is up with Boone and Shannon." Kate said she looked down at her worn out jeans with a few holes towards the bottom. "Besides the usual bickering?" Jack said surprised lifting up both eyebrows. Kate nodded and brushed her curley brown hair out of her face. "Yeah. I saw them arguing today, apparently Sayid left Shannon and Boone was the cause of it or something. I was just getting a little worried, i mean they were really mad Shannon was beating up on him. I tried talking to her but she wouldn't talk." Kate explained hoping Jack would come up with a good solution.

Jack looked at Kate, "It will blow over, just like every argument they have. Sayid will come back to Shannon." Jack said with confidence. Kate didn't say anything in responce she asked questions to herself asking how Jack could have so much confidence.

Claire overhearing the argument sat down on the beach fustrated she saw a shadow on the ground come closer to her until it came to a hault. "Howdy." A familiar voice said behind her. Claire looked up, it was Sawyer he was sweaty and dirty, the collar of his shirt frayed and he wasn't wearing any shoes. He had a smirk on his face like he usually did. "Hi." Claire responded, she knew Sawyer would probably want something from her. "So you seen Kate and Doc anywhere?" Sawyer asked he always had to know where the both of them were. "I saw Kate go in the jungle about an hour ago." Claire responded and looked back up at Sawyer. "Ah. Whatta think their doing out there?" Sawyer asked in curiousity, he was hoping he wasn't the only one thinking there was something going on between Kate and Jack but whatever it was, Sawyer didn't like it. Claire swinted her eyes, she always had a inkling that Sawyer liked Kate and would get jealous whenever she was around Jack. Claire tried to get Sawyer on her good side by saying, "Jack's in the hatch, im sure their not near eachother." Sawyer looked up as Claire was talking and rolled his eyes when he saw Kate and Jack walk on the beach together. "What do you call that?" Sawyer questioned in a weak voice. Claire shrugged and grabbed her diary and began writing, she stopped after she wrote a few words and was surprised Sawyer was still standing there, "Is there something you want Sawyer?" Claire finally asked.
"Nah, just... see ya later." Sawyer mumbled and walked away. Claire watched Sawyer for a moment walk away, he would occasionally look at Kate and Jack.

Sayid finally found a spot to make a new tent, he put down his belongings and grabbed his water bottle instead of the water being nice cool and refreshing, it was warm and not satisfying at all. Sayid quickly twisted the cap back on and resumed his thoughts on making the tent.

He grabbed a bunch of extra bamboo lying in the hot sun and stuck one in the ground and twisted it in. He sighed wondering if he made the right choice. He continued building the shelter until he felt like it was finished. He lifted the tarp on the top and secured it with vine. He walked into his tent for the first time but it just didn't feel right.

To Sayid's surprise, Hurley burst into his tent, "Whoa, you did this all now?" Hurley asked, he was watching him build it before but missed when Sayid put on the finishing touches. "Yes Hurley." Sayid replied sitting in the emptiness of his tent. "So uh where's Shannon?" Hurley asked curiously. "Back at her tent." Sayid replied hoping he wouldn't have to explain the situation to everyone. "Why? You guys are like peanut butter and jelly. You know always together." Hurley commented looking around the empty tent recently built. "Well Hurley, things have changed. Time to move on." Sayid left the conversation at that, he wasn't about to explain anymore to him. Hurley stood still looking at Sayid with a puzzled look and turned around and walked out of the tent. Sayid sighed and grabbed his bag and slowly unzipped it. He turned the whole bag over and his belongings poured out of the bag. He didn't have much with him, a few water bottles, clothes, a blanket and several other little things he salvaged from his luggage. Sayid started setting things up in his tent, he put his clothes in one corner and set down his blanket in the other. He nestled in the corner of his tent, all he could think of was Shannon.

Chapter 5

Title: The Best Policy
Characters: Michael, Walt, Locke, Charlie, Sawyer, Claire and Boone

Michael watched his son Walt toss the ball to his dog Vincent everytime he was with his dog, he was happy and Michael felt like that was the only time he was happy. He couldn't help but smile but it slowly faded when he saw Locke return back from the jungle. Walt was always interested in what Locke had to do, where he was going, everything about him. It botherd Michael, he wasn't used to being a father and to him, everyone on the island was a friend but Locke seemed like a stranger. "Hey Walt, why don't you come over here. Talk to your old man." Michael said smiling glancing at Locke hoping to grab Walt's attention away from him. "Nah Dad it's okay, i think im going to talk to Mr. Locke." Walt regected Michaels invitation and he knew Michael would speak up at any moment saying 'No Walt you can't go with Mr. Locke.' And he was right, just moments later, Michael stood up from his seat. "Hey! Get over here man. Your not going anywhere with Mr. Locke." He argued with a clear annoyance in his eyes.

Locke looked down at his bags he just came back from the hatch and was going to go hunting again. He pretended like he didn't hear the conversation going on, he was flattered Walt always wanted to learn what he does but he understands Michael and was apprecaitive he was so concerned about his son. He examined the texture of his backpack how it was brown with the dirt from in the mysterious jungle. Many threads were broken he wondered how much longer the bag will hold together for.

Walt slammed down the tennis ball, Vincent was quick to pick it up. "Why not? I always have to stay here with you." Walt said shuffling the sand with his foot. Michael knew Walt had a point, but it was for his own protection that he stayed with him. "Because Walt, im your father. I don't want you going off with strangers do you understand?" Michael said sternly looking at Walt straight in his eyes. Walt hated when Michael would give him the same lecture and rolled his eyes. "Mr. Locke is not a stranger." Walt said almost immedietly and squinted. "Do you understand?" Michael questioned again this time with a very clear pause in between each word.

Walt nodded even though he wanted to shake his head now. "Yeah, yeah, i understand."

Charlie passed by Michael and Walt, he felt as though everytime he passed someone a different emotion flodded through him, some people were happy, some sad, some annoyed, some heart broken, some confused, he just couldn't keep it straight. He looked down at his worn out converse, he rememberd them when they first crashed, he pure white and black they were they were so comfortable and he was happy with them. Now they felt as though it was no different than walking through the sand with socks on. They were sticky and damp the whites of them were now a light brown that was darker on the sides, the blacks of them were slowly fading to white and the bottoms were falling off of them. Charlie took his attention off of them and kept walking the beach.

He was looking for Claire, he saw her diary sitting in her tent right where she left it, Aaron was in the hands of Sun. He was wondering if he should start asking around but he didn't want to get too worried too soon. He saw Sawyer walking towards him with his head down. "Hey, you havn't happend to see Claire have you?" Charlie finally asked, Sawyer looked at him, his blue eyes sparkled in the sun and the clear blue of the ocean seemed to reflect off them, but Sawyer ruined the purity of them by frowning. "No. Havn't seen her." Sawyer responded in such a wraspy tone and continued walking. Something was clearly wrong with Sawyer, Charlie felt as if he couldn't just leave him alone, but resisted the urge and kept walking.

Charlie heard faint talking, he listened closer to see if any of the voices sounded like Claire. It sounded like gibberish to Charlie, he had to get closer to see if he could hear any better. The voices were comming behind a tent, he slowly crept up the side and as he got closer it became clear one of the voices was Claire. He slowly turned around and saw her laughing and turned more so the other person would be revealed, it was Boone. They were talking close to eachother, just like Claire and Charlie would all the time. His heart sank just at the sight imagining himself being replaced with Boone. They both didn't realize Charlie was standing right in front of them until Claire whipped around.

"Oh Charlie, i didn't realize you were there." Claire said with clear joy in her tone. Her smile was bright, there was no way Charlie could ever be mad at her. "I thought we were going to go for a walk together." Charlie made up an excuse on the top of his head, his attention was grabbed by Boone whom he felt looking at him. "Oh um sorry, i didn't realize you wanted to." Claire said getting up, she looked at Charlie, she could tell he probably felt uncomfortable. "Yeah lets go." Charlie said and they left without another word.

Chapter 6

Title: When You Need Somebody
Characters: Charlie, Claire, Sayid, and Kate

Charlie walked with Claire, hoping for a peaceful walk like they usually had clinging on to each other. At those times, everything was fine it was like they were the only people on the island in their own world and everything else didn't matter. This time was different, they were in seperate worlds, Claire hardley spoke unless Charlie said something, he was avoiding the Boone topic for a reason.

Claire didn't know why she went with Charlie and listened to him all the time, she always felt it was right, he always protected her. "Are you jealous?" Claire asked abruptly, she stopped walking and expected an answer. Charlie was shocked by Claire's words. The word jealously rang through Charlie's head like a curse word. Charlie looked at Claire, her hair was perfect except for a few stray strands flowing in the wind, her clear blue eyes were now wide with concern instead of smiling, it was turned upside down. "No." Charlie responded quickly without thinking and continued walking but stopped when he realized Claire was still standing there. "Sorry." Claire mumbled and followed Charlie again, a cool breeze whipped past them, it was the only comfort of that moment. "Don't be sorry, you have reason to ask." Charlie responded truthfully, but he didn't want to tell Claire he was jealous of her and Boone. Claire let out a forced smile the sun reflected off the silver buttons of her orange blouse almost blinding Charlie everytime he looked at them.

Something faint was heard on the beach that only Charlie and Claire seemed to hear. They looked at each other with the same expression, puzzled and concerned, Claire was the first to speak, "What was that?" The sound seemd louder this time, it sounded like a screech or a scream. Claire and Charlie stood before the vast jungle, clouds comming in overhead, they were a part from the beach group walking away from them. It was louder this time and a definite, "AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!" scream was echoing from the jungle to the beach. Claire looked at Charlie and breathed loudly and blinked several times. Both of them quiet.

"I think someone is in trouble." Charlie spoke with definite concern in his voice he took a few steps closer to the jungle half afraid to go in his heart raced at just the thought. "Claire, stay here!" He demanded taking deep breaths before entering. "No! Your not going, you can't leave me here Charlie please, not now." Claire said grabbing his arm, he was sweaty from the fear he felt, he knew he had to hurry but he wasn't sure how much confidence he had in himself.

At the same moment, Sayid walked along the beach once again, he frowned at the sight of Claire pulling Charlie away. "AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" This time, the scream was more ear pericing and loud. Sayid dropped his stuff, and violently ran to Charlie, "Claire, stay here, Charlie come with me." Sayid demanded he quickly turned to Claire, "We will be back soon. Don't worry."

Claire watched as Sayid and Charlie bravley treked into the jungle, she sighed heavily and waiting until their footprints faded into the jungle and sat down in the sand, as soon as she reached the ground rain poured from the cloud, the ocean roared behind her, her heart beat faster waiting for them both to get back.

"The rain will wash the trail away! We must hurry!" Sayid shouted over the rain, soaked they both ran the correct way hopefully to find someone to save. Charlie followed Sayid, he knew what he was doing. Droplets of rain ran off his fingers as he ran all the heat seemed to lift of his body as more of the cold refreshing rain fell down on him, he wanted to stop and appreciate the moment that they rarley have on the island, relief.

"Someone was dragged here..." Sayid oberved as he noticed the mud was shoved to the sides of the trail. A thought traced Charlie's mind as he noticed Sayid's obsevations, "You don't think it was, you know that monster made of smoke?" He questioned.

Sayid shook his head, he looked as though he knew the exact answer, "There are several set of footprints here, and unless the monster has feet... it's not it." He closed his eyes slowly also apprecaiting the moment Charlie just had which was relief, and took a deep breath and continued running.

The rain stopped without warning and rays of sun shone through the trees. They both stopped for a moment of amazment of the wacky weather they have been getting latley. "We must hurry." Sayid demanded and continued, Charlie was close behind.

Sayid came to immediate stop at the sight of something. It was Kate, her hands were bound together behind her tugging on a tall but weak tree, she was blind folded about bound tightly against the tree, she showed no movement. Charlie who was right behind him froze at the sight, millions of questions raced through his head.

Sayid ran to Kate, his first action was to unblindfold her, her eyes were closed. His hands shook in terror when he saw the scatches up and down her arms, they wern't severe but looked like they happend when she was dragged on the ground.

"Charlie, untie her hands!" Sayid ordered and held Kate's face rocking her gently back and forth looking closley to see if he could see any movement at all. Charlie did as Sayid said and got behind Kate and quickly untied her hands, and after that cut open the rope that was binding her to the tree.

"Kate... Kate... it's me Sayid." Sayid said as he saw her eyes flutter open. Kate looked at Sayid cautiously as if she didn't know what to think or do or what to even say. Charlie quickly walked to Sayid and bent down as well trying to communicate with Kate.

"Shhh... shhh Charlie." Sayid suggested as he slowly let go of her face. Kate's head throbbed, she didn't know what from, she couldn't really remember the events that lead up to where she was now. She looked down at the sleeves of her shirt, they were torn at the ends strings were scatterd in all directions. Her jeans ripped even more than they were before.

"Kate, it's Sayid and Charlie. Are you okay?" Sayid questions leaning in closer to her face. Sayid questioned the several scratches on her cheeks. Kate gasped and leaned back a little more. "Sayid and Charlie?" She said under her breath. Sayid nodded, "We found you here." He explained.

"You were screaming in the jungle. Me and Claire heard you and me and Sayid came and found you." Charlie expanded more on Sayid's story hoping Kate would recall the event. Kate shook her head, "Claire?" Clearly dazed, Sayid picked her up and left on the way to the beach.

"Whats wrong with her?" Charlie whisperd to Sayid, hoping not to frighten Kate. Sayid shook his head and looked at Charlie, "Her memory might be a little off, she questioned are names that cannot be a good thing. Im sure Jack will know whats wrong." Sayid explained thinking of the best possible way to put it. Sayid's feet sunk into the mud within every step, his worn out denims were now brown in the front with the soft gooey mud.

"Who do you think did it? Try to take her?" Charlie asked, he knew Sayid would probably have a lot of answers. "One of them maybe. But they would have been sucessful in taking her but they bound her to that tree, that still confuses me." Sayid ponderd. Once they reached the beach Claire was in the same spot, waiting the whole time. Her legs were crossed she was looking down at the wet sand and doodling in it. She looked up when she heard the sound of foot prints and immeditly got up when she saw Sayid carrying Kate.

"Oh my gosh." Claire said astonished quickly catching up to Sayid and Charlie. She looked at Sayid who was concentrated on many things, specifically questions and answers. "What happend?" Claire asked staring at Kate. "Found her in the jungle, tied to a tree." Charlie explained giving her the short version.

Chapter 7

Title: Right Here For You
Characters: Sayid, Kate, Charlie, Jack, Shannon and Boone

Sayid's arms numbed as he carried Kate to the beach, her rain soaked clothing rested on his arms as he approched the beach he tried to walk by without anyone noticing for a few reasons. He knew the same questions would be asked and second, he didn't know the answer. He slowly layed Kate down on a stretcher like bench, he looked closly at her face. Her pale skin was darkened by the marks of mud that traced along her cheeks. The brusies were even more visable in the light, she blinked slowly as if she was completly oblivious to where she was and Sayid was starting to think she really was.

Charlie was quick to track Sayid into the tent, the tarp rustled loudly as he made his entrance. "Did she say anything?" Charlie asked with concern in his voice as he looked at Kate. Sayid shook his head slowly and put his hands on his hips, "Other than what she said in the jungle, no." he replied.

Kate gasped loudly and caught Charlie and Sayid's attention immedietly, they quickly ran towards Kate as her eyes wanderd off in different directions. "Kate?! It's Sayid... calm down, your on the beach now your okay." Sayid said basically repeating his words that he said to her in the jungle.

Kate only heard what sounded like echos of voices, there was no indication to her that Sayid was talking to her directly. She moved her head towards where she heard the voice. "Charlie, your going to have to leave. Jack is in the hatch right? It will take way too long for him to get here, but someone has to go get him, will you do that for me Charlie?" Sayid asked him kneeling at Kate's side. Charlie nodded only getting a notion of what Sayid had just told him, the words he only got was 'get' and 'Jack'.

Words rambled through Kate's head, she tried to speak but she didn't know what to say. Sayid layed a hand on Kate's forehead and slowly moved his hand back to her hair to try to soothe her. "Where am i?" Kate said weakly staring straight up at the ceiling of the tent. "Your at the beach Kate, me and Charlie found you in the jungle tied to a tree, your alright." Sayid explained once again.

Meanwhile, Charlie raced through the jungle, twigs snapped from under him the cool breeze whipped past him. He was running so fast he practically missed the entranced to the hatch and put his body to the door and opened it. Jack's attention was grabbed by Charlie and stood up as soon as he saw him stumble in the hatch. "Kate... she, i mean we, i mean Sayid and I found her in the jungle, she was tied to a tree." Charlie explained quickly putting his hands on his knees and gasped, out of breath from running. Jack walked towards Charlie, "Whoa, whoa. Calm down Charlie what do you need me to do?" He said as if he didn't know the answer, he knew he would have to help Kate and he was willing to.

It has been at least a half hour since Charlie left and Sayid was still sitting with Kate, she hasn't spoken in at least 10 minutes, she was repeating the same questions which still ran through Sayid's head. Jack crept into the tent and stopped at the sight of Kate. She didn't even look up when Jack entered. "How long has she been like this?" Jack asked Sayid grabbing a water bottle and rushing it over to Kate. He put his hand under Kate's head and slowly lifted her head up so she could drink. He put the rim of the plastic bottle to Kate's dry lips and little by little it sank into Kate's mouth, she swallowed the water and sighed.

"Since i brought her back to camp which was about a half hour ago." Sayid explained, he rested his head on his hand. "Hey, Kate... it's Jack. You need to listen to me okay? Can you remember anything? What's my name Kate?" Jack said answering his own question in the scentence but he needed to test Kate. As Kate sat up she examined Jack's face stirring up names on top of her head. "J-Jack?" She questioned and leaned to the side.

Jack nodded and let out a little smile. "Thats right. Now i need you to tell me EXACTLY what you remember." Jack explained putting an emphasis on exactly. "Um... I was in the jungle, walking, someone grabbed me and next thing i realized, i was here." Kate said wearily reciving flashbacks of the event. Jack nodded and turned to Sayid, "Stay here with her, get her anything she needs, she will be fine." He exited the tent.

Shannon still sat in her tent examing the sides of her tent. The shadows of the trees were broad and detailed and swayed back and forth as a breeze passed by. Boone entered in her tent without knocking or asking. "Did you hear what happend? Someone tried to take Kate, she's okay through." Boone explained to Shannon. Shannon blinked and stared blankly at the sides of her tent not even bothering to look at Boone.

Oooh! I read the first chapter and I love it! I love Charlie and Claire fics so much. Charlie's so like... uber protective. I love him. I really liked how you put in the bit with Charlie going, "What's up?" just because Boon walked over. That was cute and very Charlie-like.

The only thing I didn't like was how you didn't change paragraphs when ever a new person spoke. But other than that the fic was extreemly good and sooo very cute. I hope you'll be writing a Desmond one soon.

I'll be back to read the others!

Title: Discovery
Characters: Desmond and Charlie
Summary: After Desmond isolates himself from the group until he finds Charlie in the jungle, they makes a discovery in the jungle wondering if they should keep the mystery to themselves.

Desmond walked the miles of the dark misty jungle. The sunlight blinded him at times when he walked in the unshaded bare areas. He rolled up the sleeves of his dark blue shirt carelessly needing relief from the heat that seemed to attack him as a target. He felt his forehead and wiped off the tiny drops of sweat but it didn't matter, everytime he would wipe them off it only took a matter of time before they reappeard.
Desmond didn't know where he was going but all he knew was he wanted to get away from all the madness he had been witnessing on the beach. He didn't even want to go to the hatch to cool himself down or at least clean himself, he shook his head at the thought. He didn't think of the hatch like the others did Desmond still referred to it as a 'prision cell' he was kept down there like a trained dog for three years.
A loud snap made Desmond stop in his tracks he looked cautiously around him in all directions his heart beating fast. He breathed slowly so he could hear his mind which was once tangled in his own thoughts was now just focused on the moment. He saw the large tropical leaves violently fall to the ground, something was comming near Desmond. He kept still and pretended like he wasn't there. Whatever it was was rapidly approching him. A figure appeared finally, it was Charlie. His hair was tossled in all directions, his shirt frayed at the collar and his pants worn out and his converse which had holes at the toes. "Oh hey!" Charlie cheerfully said to Desmond slightly surprised he saw him standing there. Desmond took a deep sigh of relief. "Hello." Desmond bluntly responded. Charlie took a few more stumbled steps towards Desmond. "So uh whatcha doing all the way out here?" Charlie was the first to speak starting the conversation. Desmond rambled through his thoughts searching for a believeable answer. "I could ask you the same, yeah?" He turned the question around and began walking. "Yeah but i asked you first." Charlie responded and was quick to follow Desmond in his path. "Just uh taking a walk, i guess you want to join." Desmond responded hearing Charlie's feet immitating his own.
Charlie smiled at Desmond's responce. "Nothing else to do. I mean all that at the beach, if it's not something it's something else. If someone's not hurt, someone's mad." Charlie told Desmond truthfully. Desmond nodded agreeing with Charlie's statement. "I havn't been at the beach too long but um what you say sounds quite right." Desmond responded. He stopped walking suddenly and looked at the ground, Charlie practically ran into him an frowned at Desmonds quick stop. "You alright?" Charlie asked he noticed Desmond was looking at the ground. Desmond didn't answer but only kept looking at the ground. It was a large, old something that was like a treasure chest just sitting the the middle of the jungle. Charlie was quick to notice was Desmond was looking at and was startled by the discovery. "What do you think is in it?" Charlie asking the question a bit stupidly as if Desmond had a better answer than Charlie had in mind. "Thats what we are going to find out brotha." Desmond said kneeling down to the case thinking of possible ways to break it open.

It's a Zelda sword! Sorry, but I'm really into the new Zelda game right now. It's really good! This chapter was so cute... even though I skipped like five of them (I will get back to those). You captured both the characters quite well--especially Charlie starting up a conversation. Please continue this one--I gotta know what is in that box, if not a Zelda sword.
