Cristallin Arrose had been searching through the snow for some tender roots to munch on. His nose brushed against the surface of the frozen stream, chilling his velvety nose. The stallion seemed to naturally head towards water sources. He assumed it had something to do with where he was born.
He loved snow. He loved how it chilled his body, and how it melted into glorious water when it touched his warm body. He looked at the frosty ice on the stream, sniffed it...
And licked it.
His tongue ran along the ice for a moment, then froze to it and stuck. He started to pull away, but some...strange force kept him from pulling back. He blinked, and pulled a bit harder. His tongue stretched a bit, but wouldn't let go. His ears pulled back in embarassment, and he muttered lightly through his tongue.
"Oh buggeh."

"Huff. Huff. Huff." Breathing a bit heavily, Ladius cantered through the snowy woodlands, her sides heaving and her braids whipping in the wind. She'd been running for a long time, ever since that little rabbit had crossed her field of vision and provoked her to run. Granted, she'd left the rabbit behind long ago, but once she'd gotten caught up in the urge to run, she couldn't fight it until she'd run herself out.
Well, that moment had nearly come. Glancing off to the side, she slowed gradually to a stop as she spied the shimmering sight of what appeared to be a frozen stream. She could do with a drink right about now.
Breathing still heavily, she walked over to the water's edge, peering down at the ice thoughtfully for a moment before suddenly cracking down sharply on the surface with a hoof. Smiling, she leaned down to drink from the hole she'd bashed in the ice...then stopped. What on earth???
Raising an eyebrow, then her head, she turned to look down stream at the sight that had caught her attention: a stallion...who seemed to be stuck to the water. "Scuse my, boya, but what are you trying to accomplish with that little..." Pause. "Act?"

Arro struggled a bit, he silver hooves sliding and clicking on the ice. He was beginning to lose feeling in his tongue, and that didn't do much to help him think clearly.
He suddenly heard the loud crash of ice breaking, and his eyes averted upwards to see a brown hued mare a few feet off. He felt himself blushing, the pink contrasting deeply from his turquoise coat.
"Umm...it sheems that my tongue ish shtuck to the icsh." he said through his tongue. (I guarantee ya that's a genuine speech! *actually held tongue and said line aloud. XD)

...Obviously her first impression had been right after all. Her eyebrow still arched, Ladius strolled down the stream until she was standing right next to the trapped stallion, then made a point of walking in a circle around him, eyeing his predicament with a combination of amusement, incredulousity, and pity. "Poor sap of a stallion, didn't it occur to you to break the ice first?" Obviously not, otherwise he wouldn't be in that specific predicament. Still, in spite of the tragedy of the situation all Ladius could see was the humor. It was nice to see a stallion as the victim of himself from time to time.

He snorted lightly at her, his eyes following the mare's movements are him, until he could not anymore.
"I washn't dwinking fwom it. I jusht licked it." he said testily, annoyed she wasn't helping him. He hadn't thought before he acted, and now he regretted it. This mare was rubbing it in his icy cold nose.

"Drank, licked. What do the details matter when the end result is the same?" Smirking a bit in amusement, Ladius finished her circling as she came to a stop in front of the stallion's head, staring down at his stuck tongue thoughtfully. "So, why don't you just yank it off? Unless you like it stuck, for some reason." Which was entirely possible. Sometimes the behavior of stallions defied logic.
On the positive side, at least this one wasn't being all dominant. Maybe more stallions needed to go out and stick their tongues to ice.

Arro narrowed his eyes slightly, but it was hidden by his mane. "Well, that would caush a great deal of pain now wouldn't itsh?" he snorted, breathing steamy air onto the ice below it, seeing that it was working and beginning to melt the ice a bit.

...Was he kidding her? Good grief, the idea of maintaining that silly position because the most plausible way out might hurt a little...the very idea made Ladius nearly choke. As it was, she simply shook her head incredulously. "I'd hardly call it a great deal of pain, Boya. In fact, I'd call it infintisimal, and at the same time infinitely preferable to your current...situation."
However, he didn't seem to feel the same way; and there was only so much time she could spend contemplating the foolish before her head started to hurt. That aside, she had a perfectly good hole in the ice freezing over even as she was standing here, so...
"Well, you have fun with your stream bonding." Turning on one heel, she strolled back upstream, cracking the thin new layer of ice that had formed over the hole, then lowering her head for a drink.

Arro ignore her question for a moment, as the ice melted away from his breath and allowed him his tongue..and his freedom.
He looked up to her, and frowned. "Well, I surely don't want to lose my tongue." he snapped testily, his patience running out. He snorted lightly, calming himself down again. His tongue was cold and numb, but at least it was still there. He'd rather not become a mute stallion.

Taking her time lipping the icy cold water, Ladius made a point to completely satisfy her thirst before once again raising her head to look at Arro. This time, her smile was mocking and sardonic; all of a sudden her stallion friend seemed to have forgotten he wasn't a foal anymore! How sad.
Tossing back her braids, she gave Arro an 'are-you-stupid' look. "Surely you don't think that you would have lost your tongue from something as minor as getting it stuck to the ice. But even if you had, there would have been ways to deal with it." Never get yourself into a situation that you can't see a way out of, or else you deserve the worst of all possible scenarios. In his case, losing his tongue.

Arro's brows furrowed together in a glare. "Well..." he muttered through clenched teeth. "Let's stick your tongue to the ice and find out if you lose your tongue or not." he growled lightly.
Whatever happened to the days when mares were polite? he thought lightly.

Running a hoof over her mouth to catch any stray bits of water, Ladius found herself smiling an amusement at the stallion's touchy behavior. Oh dear, had she struck a nerve? What a wuss.
Strolling over from where she'd been standing next to the hole in the ice, she walked right over to the larger stallion, then laughed. "Gods, you're a funny one, Boya. Peeling tongues off of ice is for the idiots who don't know not to try it; only a fool would do something so idiotic to prove their mettle. All that such behavior would prove is that the person doing it had no sense of pride."
As she spoke, she eyed up the stallion, walking slightly around him once more. Now that his head wasn't stuck to the ice, she could see that he was pretty tall; still, he wasn't exceptionally muscular, so she strongly doubted he did much fighting. His mane was braided in a similar fashion to hers, so apparently he had a two-legger he visited...perhaps too much. "If it's my toughness you're doubting, though," Here her eyes narrowed slightly and her smile became more calculated and cold. "Then bring it on, and we'll see who handles pain best."

He narrowed his eyes slightly, from his nostrlis coming a plume of steam. "I wish not to fight you." he said softly, being kind hearted by nature. He shook his head, one of his braids falling over one of his eyes. Unlike popular belief, Arro didn't have a two-legger. He'd gotten his trinkets from various other two-leggers, and he had his braids all his life, since he was just a foal. He couldn't remember how he'd gotten them, but it always vaguely made him think of his mother. So he kept them for that tiny reason.
"I do not doubt at all that you are strong. I'm smart enough to know when I've met a stronger foe." he said gently, avoiding any conflict.

Well, obviously sparkly blue boy wasn't a total case of runaway testosterone; though Ladius always had a great time kicking the asses of macho men who wanted to 'prove a point'. Yeah, their point was that they fought worse than a bunny rabbit! And with less pride, too.
At Arro's admission, it was suddenly as though she were a totally different mare. Instantly the coldness was gone from both expression and eyes, and she was laughing in honest amusement. "I like you, Boya; you have a decent head on your shoulders, even if the brain contained therein doesn't know enough to keep it's tongue off the ice. What do you call yourself, anyway?"
Perhaps a little complicated to the uninitiated, Ladius' mood swing actually made perfect sense. She hated being patronized or belittled, and especially loathed stallions who indulged in such behaviors. However, once she had suitably asserted her dominance, everything was good. Provided the stallion wasn't THAT type of stallion.

Upon Arro's face, the tiniest of smiles flashed across, but only for a moment. Then as quickly as one would blink, it vanished.
"Now that, I am glad to hear. I wouldn't want to be on the bad side of a fiesty mare like you." he said with a chuckle. "My name is Cristallin Arrose, or simply Arro, for short. And what should I call you, m'lady?" he nickered politely, glad that the friction was gone between them.
