One of the South Dakota senators is sick. He's now in critical condition, although apparently people are saying that his health is improving. Should he die that leaves the senate in a very interesting position. The South Dakota senator is a democrat, and going into the next session democrats will have a bare majority of 51-49. Should he die or resign his seat would likely turn republican, because due to legalities the republican governor of that state would likely chose another republican to replace him. If this were to happen that would put the Senate at a 50-50 split, which then d**k Cheney would have to make the tie breaking vote. So then the question is, say the said scenario occurs, then should the VP vote for a republican senate majority leader or a democratic majority? If he would vote republican it would leave the senate in republican control, however that would be a serious slap in the face to the voters who just recently gave control of congress over to the dems. What do you guys think?

If he would vote republican it would leave the senate in republican control, however that would be a serious slap in the face to the voters who just recently gave control of congress over to the dems. You think Cheney would be nice enough to pass over a chance to pwn Dems? You underestimate the power of the dark side, young padawan.

Gah. I'm sick of this. The guy just had a stroke, he's come out of brain surgery, and everywhere I go, no one's saying, I hope he gets better, or, his poor family!
They're going, Oh Noes, the Evil Republicans shall win!!! or even worse,
I hope he won't be able to make it so that we get back what's ours!
That is what I think.

Just one more example of how little the left respects human life.
I personally hope he recovers. Granted, i want a republican in there, but he was elected by the people, and it seems rather wrong to pull a switch like that on someone they elected, even if it's something i'd like.
I'd rather see it turn conservative because the people WANT it that way, not because some dude up and died.
Plus, even if i hated the guy's views, i don't think it's right to wish him dead or too sick to perform his duty.

No you're right, I think he'd vote republican in a heart beat, its just kinda sad people put thier political ambitions above democracy, or above someone else's life for that matter.

I'd put my politicle ambitions above democracy in a heartbeat. I don't want to see America as a democracy, atleast not in my life time. I want it to stay a republic.

He's actually kinda conservative. But he's still pro-abortion, so I guess people in prolife groups are going to find a conflict between what to wish for...him living or him dying.
