You've read the books (right?) and imagined "What if I were at Hogwarts? What if I could roam the enchanted castle at night? Or sneak into the woods by moonlight? Well, here's your chance to be a witch or wizard and fulfill you dream of turning your little/big brother/sister into the toads you think they should be. Leave behind the overly dramatic muggle realm, grab you wands, cloaks, hats, and broomsticks and prepare for an awesome school year! You first stop? Who knows.

The nitty gritty rules (you knew it was coming.)
To avoid confusion, arguements, etc. this will not go exactly as the books went. An entirely new plot may make it's appearence here, but that will show itself in good time.
You are not allowed to be any of the main characters (Harry, Hermione, Dumbledore, etc.) and your character cannot be a copy of a main character. Changing names, age, etc. does not make them an entirely new character. Remember that originalty is encouraged here, and it makes the character easier for you to roleplay.
Do not make your characters unbelievably powerful, as this can make it frustrating for the rest of us. Unusual power or resistance for specific types of spells are fine, as they help make a character more unique.
Your character may be of another race or part of another race. Make sure that the race you choose resembles a human (Dwarf, Nymph, etc.).
Either post your character profile here, or send it to me through private messages. Whether you post your character here or send it to me, please do not roleplay until it has been O.K.'d. With all characters, sometimes they need a little work to make sure that there will be no problems in the future.
Your character may be from any year. If, before the roleplay is over, your character graduates, you may either make a new character or find a way to get them to stay at the school (assistant teacher, teacher, etc.)

Making a character
As those of you who have read the series know, there are four Houses in Hogwarts. In your first year at the school, you are sorted into a House by use of a Sorting hat that is quite good with rhymes. WHat you make your character, have in mind which House you want that character to be sorted into, as each one has a different stereotype. If you don't know what Hosue to choose, just create a character, and I (or someone who may volunteer for this job) will sort you based on your characters profile.
Slytherine: Cunning, crafty, etc. The rumor is that everyone who has been sorted into Slytherin has turned out bad. They absolutely despise Gryffindor.
Gryffindor: Brave, daring, lots of nerve. They absolutely despise Slytherin.
Hufflepuff: Patient, true, dilligent. They tend to get along with everyone...usually.
Ravenclaw: Smart, witty, sharp minded. They also tend to get along with everyone. Some, more so than others.
Wands:
Your character will need a wand in school so as to cast spells and other magic. You can either recieve a wand from an old family member, go to a wand shop and buy one from there, or have someone (or thing) create on for you. Every wand must have the hair or feather of a magical creature. Example: Unicorn Hair, Pegasus Hair/Feather, Pheonix Feather, Vila Hair etc. They can be made from any sort of wood, but not metal or stone.
Broomsticks:
Being in a magical world, it's nice to have a broomstick to be able to play quidditch (a version of basketball on brooms). First years aren't allowed their own brooms, so if your brand new, you'll need to borrow one from Madam Hooch, the Quidditch instructor. There are various types of broomsticks, and I'll have a list of most of them and their pro's/con's soon. For now, here are the three newest models.
Nimbus 2000 Nimbus 2001 Firebolt- Swift, nimble, great, especially for seekers. Problems might appear for those of larger, heavier builds when it comes to turning and speeding up. Concidered to be among the best broomsticks currently on the market.
Animals:
Beings so far from home, you may want an animal companion to be with you. You may bring one pet with you, but be sure not to forget about it during your studies and fun. ((If you want a different pet, but it's not listed here, just put it on your profile. Make sure it's something that would seem like a practical pet to bring to a school, too.))
Owl- An owl will allow you to easily send and recieve letters from friends and family who are not at hogwarts. You will also be able to order supplies you may have forgotten or run out of. You may even be able to order dungbombs and other such nuiscances, just make sure Filch the caretaker doesn't catch you. Make sure you give them plenty of attention though, or you'll find your fingers to be rather red and slippery...if you can find them at all.
-If you choose not to have an owl, no worries. There are plenty of school owls which you can borrow.-
Frog/Toad- You know that fairytale where the princess kisses a frog and it turns into a prince? That may be one of the very limited uses of one of these creatures other than frightening nearby females.
Cat- Ah, the feline comforts of a cat. They're there to curl up on your lap, to purr when you pet them, to claw your bed posts, cause you to trip, and rip up your homework getting you in trouble with your teacher. Ah, the feline comforts of a cat.
Raven/Crow- These creatures are able to do the same things as an owl, though not quite as well. They tend to bunch up in flocks during their deliveries, often times slowling down the proccess, but they're mighty smart creatures with some of the keenest eyes you'll find.
Rats: Sometimes lazy and useless, these creatures can be quite handy for sneaking notes to your fellow students in class. Beware though, or they may get stepped on.
Bats: A nice discussion pet, but hard to care for, and not very useful, especially during the day. You might be able to get a few laughs though by putting the under someones covers and pouring some tomato juice on them.
Spiders: These creatures can be quite cool to have, aside from the fact that they might bite you, and you may find a sticky material all over your bedposts. If you bring one of these to school, keep an eye on them or someone may let out a loud scream while you're not looking.
Rabbits: A cuddley pet that never seems to stop chewing. They hop and they bounce and they flop about. QUite the campanion type, I must say. Just keep them away from the owls and other carnivirous pets.
Reptiles: Each type of reptile has it's own pro's and cons. Snakes- Snakes have a knack for finding paths in the castle that aren't well traveled, and may help you in the future. If the snake happens to catch hold of something it shouldn't, such as a student, then there is that chance it may have to have a special cage built for it at your cost.
Lizards: All lizards except for crocodiles, alligators, and other lizards that exceed 4 feet in length are not allowed since a young student nearly lost her leg to one. The smaller ones are fast, nimble, and have a knack for getting away, but they always show up with a strange treat of some sort. It is suspected that these "treats" are found in the teachers' stashes of private ingredients for each class. It's wise not to eat any.
Turtles: Turtles are slow, patient creatures. They're easy to care for, and quite content with their current living quarters. If you happen to have a jeweled turtle though, who knows what may happen. Beware.
Dragons: Most dragons are not allowed to come to Hogwarts, since many are illegal to own in the first place. The miniature dragons though are allowed in. Each species has a different ability, and since there are so many different types, I find that I cannot list them here.

Additional items
Yes, aside from that which was listed above, there is so much more in the magical world. You have quills that write for you, ink that turns invisible, candy that causes you to talk like a monkey for as long as it's in your mouth. And that's just the begining. There are love potions, fireworks that burst into stars, wands that turn into flowers, candies that change you into different shapes and sizes! And don't forgot about the plants, some of which cause boils to erupt on your enemies (and possibly yourself). The wonder never ends! These items can be found in Diagon Alley (which is where you should go for any wizarding needs) and many other magical villages. At different times of the school year, you'll be able to visit a village near Hogwarts where there's a joke shop, an Inn where you can get the famous Butterbeer, the Shrieking Shack, and many other places.

The Castle
Hogwarts Castle if located in an unknown location, visible only to those of a magical nature. Normally, one gets there by traveling on a train in London, Platform 9 3/4. Though there are other ways to get to the school, this is the preffered manner as the train trolley has some rather tasty treats onboard. Getting back to the school, there are many corridors, stairwells, paintings and other such things in which you can take to get from one class to another. There are also numerous rooms, floors, trick doors, ghosts, and moving statues, not to mention a poltergeist who loves to make your stay at hogwarts miserable. Luckily, he'll probably to busy bothering the caretaker to bug you too much.
When you first come to Hogwarts, if your a first year, you'll be taken across the lake in shifty looking boats, given a brief introduction to the workings and rules of Hogwarts, and then shuffled into the dining hall where you'll be sorted into your house and given food to eat. If you're coming back for your 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, or 7th year, you'll be taken by the horseless carriages to the dining hall so you can watch the sorting and eat.
After that, you'll follow the head boy or girl of your house to the location of your common room. They will give you the code word that you will need to tell the painting that gaurds the entrance to the common room whenever you want to enter.
There are points you can earn for your House by doing different things. You can play Quidditch (explanation below), answer questions corrently in class, among other things. But, you can also have points taken from your House. This happens when you break rules, whether it's out past your curfew, being direspectful in class, throwing dungbombs, etc. At the end of the year, the House with the most points wins the House Cup.
Oh, by the way, don't be frightened if a person or other thing in a paint goes missing. They're probably visiting a neighbor or something like that. And if they start talking to you, it's probably best if you answer them. Maybe you'll have a nice conversation and learn something interesting.

Quidditch
Quidditch is the game that witches and wizards play. It's been compared to basketball, but it has quite a few differences. The biggest one being that they play it on broom sticks.
One Seeker: One player on each team that chase after a small, golden ball so they can end the game. The team who's Seeker catches the snitch recieve 150 points. The Snitch (the name of the golden ball) hovers around and above the oval shapes field. It is fast, small, and hard to see and catch.
Three Chasers: Chasers try to score points by throwing a red ball called the Quaffle through one of three loops on the opposing teams side of the field. They get 10 points every time a ball makes it through. The quaffle makes no movements unless it is thrown. It has no magical life like any of the other balls.
Two Beaters: Beaters hit the tattered bowling-ball sized Bludgers at the players of the other team with bat like clubs, trying to knock the players off their broomsticks. The Bludgers are fast and hard, but aren't too good at turning, which will help you on the field.
One Keeper: The Keeper is the player that gaurds the loops on their teams side of the feild. If a Quaffle is thrown at the loops, the Seekers try to grab the Quaffle and throw it to one of the Chasers on his or her team.
The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. All the points scored in the game goes to the House of the team that scored them. Also at the end of the year, the Quidditch Cup is awarded to the quidditch team that did the best during the season, like any other sport.
