Try not to think of your schoolwork as your schoolwork. Think of every finished piece as you selling your abilities.
That is a good plan in terms of getting good work out of yourself, and bad in that it can drive you completely nuts. gonk

They look like your average highschool art assignments to me, which makes me cringe because I hated doing that carefully positioned, random objects still life stuff. Grarrgg.
The last one is kinda pretty, though. The shading adds a bit of uniqueness to it.
How about posting some of your own art now? wink

X(
being forced to draw from life like this is soooooo good for you. i was really pissed when my drawing II instructor started going really really minimal with still life/observational assignments.
i need moooorrre..
Drawing in my own personal style is perfect on my own time. When i'm paying for instruction i actually want something that will make me better at drawing.
So, stick with it! looks good.
You should show us some personal work too, so we can get a sense of what you like to do and how you can improve wink otherwise, i think more you get used to really looking at your subjects the more you'll overcome the tendency to draw things the way you already think they should look, which often tends to be the culprit in beginner's art work. At first there is just sooo much visual information to process before in get's on your paper, it's overwhelming, but practice makes it better and better.
