Maxem stared at that trailer. That was the trailer she was in earlier, changing in. The trailer that Charlot had been staying in. Was she going to be bold enough to go knock and see if he was in? She had no guarantee that he would even be there.
And in any case, it wasn’t even his trailer.
But seeing as how renovations on Maxem, Lucrezia, and Wing Ting’s trailer had begun, Maxem was hoping to ask Charlot if he could kindly paint the top end of the trailer where Maxem couldn’t reach. That was her story, at least.
Finally, after much internal debate, she stepped to the door and let forth a confident knock to the trailer door.

Ankita was lounging on her chaise, cup of tea laying on her chest and Sarava on her stomach. Her leg was hanging off, swinging between each sip she took as she listened to the bells and chimes ringing as the wind hit them.
The moment she heard the door, she quickly shot up, spilling the tea mostly on herself, and partially on Sarava.
"Shitshitshitshit!" she shrieked as the tea hit her skin. Luckily it was warm, though unfortunately on the hotter side, so there was no real serious harm in it all, just a major nuisance. At this point, Sarava was laying on the floor, and quickly scampered underneath the chaise as her familiar quickly shot up, patting herself furiously and cursed under her breath. She finally calmed herself down, blowing her hair away from her face and stumbled to the door.
A forceful hand pushed opened the door haphazardly, "Yes?" she said hastily. After her poor greeting she quickly withdrew into herself, hoping to not have offended or terrorized some poor individual.

It wasn’t particularly hard to hear a woman scream profanity from the outside of the trailer, and Maxem cocked a brow thinking of just what could bother her to use those words—probably something terrible.
When Ankita finally did open the door, Maxem clasped her hands to her mouth to hide the gasp that erupted from her. This was Ankita, the blind woman she had offended, and yet also it was Ankita, the mysterious woman who owned the trailer. Maxem cursed to herself silently, wondering how she didn’t realize that earlier.
Nevertheless, just because Ankita was there doesn’t mean Charlot was not.
“Uhm… Hello.” Her voice was trying to sound as if she was just meeting her for the first time, in case Ankita may not recognize it. “I’m looking for Mr. M’Queen. He wouldn’t happen to be in, would he?”

Unfortunatly, Ankita was fairly good at remembering voice and tried to hide what chortle escaped every now and then. She hardly expected to encounter Maxem again, but raised an eyebrow to who she was searching for. In the back of her mind, she wondered if he'd done something wrong, but quickly brushed it off.
"Hm, nope. I haven't seen him in a bit. Is something wrong?"

“Oh,” Her voice dropped a bit, she was hoping to see him. … Because she didn’t want to go get the stools to reach that high, yea… That was it.
“No, no, there’s nothing too serious, I just wanted to see if he could help me out a bit.”
She bit her lip, trying to think of just what to say in order to escape this situation without it turned awkward.
“Do you know when he may be back?”
She failed. It still sounded awkward. She felt somewhat like a school girl looking to play with her friends. Ankita was certainly not Charlot’s guardian; there was no reason why she should know where he was or where he should be all the time. She sighed a bit, realizing her folly a bit too late.

"Soon." She said with a blank face. Though it quickly disappeared, and the laugh she tried to hide finally escaped with the periodic snort. "No, I'm joking. I don't really know. He just comes in when he wants and such." she said shrugging.
Surely her finding this much pleasure in the situation was unatural. Or at least she half wondered that for a moment, but the amusement that came from it devoured it quickly.
"Is it anything I could help with?" She said, snorting. Wow, how can I possibly make her feel more awkward?

“… Considering the situation, probably not.” She shrugged, if Ankita wasn’t blind, she probably would have let her. A blind woman trying to clean, though, made no sense. She wouldn’t even be able to see stains to clean up.
But at the very least, Ankita’s words reassured something within Maxem. He was like a stray cat, and stray cats never seemed to have too much attachment to those who took care of them, they simply came and went as they pleased, taking advantage of whomever they could along the way. She found this comparison particularly witty, and was fairly proud of herself.
Proud enough to share, actually.
“So then he’s kind of like a stray cat, just roaming from place to place in order to get by?”
Deep down, she did want to suggest that Ankita may not have any particular special place in Charlot's heart, but really, she had no idea if that was true or not.

Ankita's eyebrows furrowed, she wasn't very sure how to respond to that.
"I suppose. I just offered him a place to stay since he couldn't find where he was supposed to be staying. So he stayed. I'm not exactly going to lock him up like some sort of pet when he has his own business to do." she placed her hand on the molding of the door to lean against it.
There was a hint of attitude in her voice and demeanor, and for a moment that surprised her. She was rarely one to get so defensive, but the current situation seemed to bring out her competative side.

She smiled slyly, knowing Ankita had no way of seeing her facial expressions.
“I should hope you don’t, else you would be quite a desperate woman. Besides that, it seems you have your hands full with that one … creature; no need to take care of a man too.”
Now that-- that statement-- was a hint. Sure, Ankita was pretty and desirable enough to get a man, but Maxem still needed to imply that she was a crazy animal-obsessed woman. There would be all out war, now; Maxem had no intention to back down from a cat fight, especially after their first meeting not turning out too nicely.

Ankita's head cocked. Are you trying to fight with me?
"Creature?" Her head seemed to swivel slightly as she placed her hand on her hip, stil leaning against the door frame. She could take an attack on herself but oh no, Sarava was not fair game in this. "Pardon me, madame, but I do believe that creature you speak of is probably more capable of taking care of her own person than you."
Sure, she couldn't really blame her for being lost, her first time around. But that was of no matter in the current situation. Her face began to get more warm as the seconds passed.

“Oh, yes. I hear animals thrive off of human scraps, I’m sure it’ll be fine. You’ll have a companion for as long as you both may live; granted it’s furry, but alive nonetheless.”
She cocked her head back, looking over the woman and sizing her up. She didn’t appear to be one to resort to violence, but the monkey was something to be careful of; Maxem would keep on guard. Regardless of her caution, her sarcasm was nearly dripping off of her words in globs.
“Why, it must be so wonderful to get along without requiring human contact! How I do wish I could romp around with animals like you do. “

Ankita could feel her nails digging into the door frame. She was a pacifist, there was no denying in that. But for once, she felt the kind of tension that a boxer must feel in his first fight, but held back in throwing any blows. But rather, resorted to using her tongue in it's place.
"You're right. I will have a companion for as long as the both of us live. I'm sure the same can be said for you." A half-hearted smile creeped onto her face. "But oh! Wait, that's right. I suppose you can't really say that, now can you? How sad that must be." She frowned slightly.
"And I don't need constant human contact. That's one of the joys of being independant. But I suppose if one was so desperate for attention as to play damsel in distress over petty things wouldn't fully comprehend that, now would they?" Her tongue glided across her teeth, almost prepared to throw herself forward and give a deadly bite.

“Oh, well quite so! Because you know being a blind woman depending on a giant rodent is independent by today’s standards! Good for you, relying on a monkey must really make you feel empowered! I sure wish I had an animal I needed for survival so I could feel just as important as you must when it hands you your food in the mornings!”
Now she had sunken to a new low, but she was more than annoyed at the personal attack that had just been made. Her trip to the circus had been a trip for independence, yes, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t indulge in the perks that she could milk out of it. Acting and conning were two very well honed skills; they were used when they needed to be for conveniences sake, not because she needed it.
“Oh, but forgive me! For surely I must be keeping you from picking up animal feces somewhere! Don’t let me be a bother, we all have our work we must attend to. Some just a bit more... important than others.”

Ankita's eyes widened at her comment and her jaw dropped. She quickly straightened her posture, clenching her fists.
"You find yourself so self-righteous! A foolish girl with nothing better to do on her time than to harass someone because of her own blatant and pointless jealousy!" Her face was filled with fury as she angrily stomped her foot.
"Yes, I need slight aid in finding my way around but at least I try to do it myself rather than to impose on others nothing but a pesky burden! I do many things by myself with no outside aid. What makes me feel empowered is the fact that I will never be such. Such. Such. Such a foolish, naive cretin as you are!" She began to clench the loose fabrics of her sari tightly, her teeth grinding.
There were very few things on this earth that really made Ankita angry. But people trying to make her feel as though she's nothing but a dependant leech was more likely than not on the top of her list.
"You're nothing but a fool of a girl! A fool! You're likely as patheticly dependant and. and. and. Incompetant as you presume me to be!"
The more and more she spoke, the higher her voice seemed to get, until finally she seemed to reach the highest note she could.
"If Sarava had taken a crap, I'd be sure to have shoved it down your throat, as well as your stupidity!"

“And who are you but a woman who makes assumptions about everyone else! Barely even a woman with words like yours, it’s no wonder you’re stuck with the rats!”
She was keeping her voice even, but her hands were tightly clenched at her sides. Ankita could not see her fury and that fact alone kept Maxem stable. At least she could sound collected.
“And what a lady you must be, making a scene in public! Have you no shame? Clearly not, with stunts like yours.”
She was looking at Ankita’s choice of dress and how little it left to the imagination; her shoulder was actually exposed for the entire world to see. She must be some kind of harlot.
And on that note, she was allowing a man to stay with her out of wedlock; it was without doubt that Ankita was surely a whore. A good one, at the very least, if Charlot kept coming back to her.
